No point for huawei to make a same android os, the reason they make harmonyos is to avoid ban from google, so 100% sure harmonyos is a independent os.
Harmony is a FORK from google android..
harmonyOS Next is entirely inhouse, the last version to maintain any type of compatibility with android will be HarmonyOS 4 as that is AOSP
people need to realize they can survive and survive easily without google.

It's a better os but unfortunately it will take a very long time for the world to use it as google is easier for those outside of china,like me I'm living in south america

@@Reverse_zeth i'm from the philippines, I just change the country(malaysia) to download the lighthouse & change it again to my country......and Yes it works with google apps without using Gbox. by the way my phone is nova 9, nova 10 & nova 10pro... lighthouse is a microg the same with youtube vanced but no apps to be seen.
You seem to be writing, that you downloaded the original apps from China. These apps then worked OK on your standard android operating system.

Huawei is very smart.
If it's not supported by app developer then it will be dead, as we know microsoft, blackberry, nokia died because the lack of app, you can make os 1000 times faster and smoother but if it's lack of app then what's the point?
You know HW will just make sure a majority of Android apps will run on it...

microkernel doesn't really mean anything (within the mobile phones scenario). sure, it does have some benefits, but not at phones. and failure of windows phone and fall of blackberry had little to do with the interface (and i'm saying that as someone whose first smartphone was bb). back then people werent that used to the way they operate the phone
