You know he's a good mechanic when he says 'I'm glad we did this video because we might have just saved this comstomer some money' and 'Just give me one quick second.' and didn't edit out him getting the second cap. That made me smile and press the like button right there.
Just wanted to say, this video SAVED MY CAR!!!! I couldn’t find the problem, never thought to check the cap. Super thankful man, you saved me a lot of money!
Wow I'm impressed at your ethics than what's shown in this video. You said you just saved your customer some money because you found the cap defect. Usually a bad mechanic would replace the water pump and charge the customer hundreds of dollars. I see so many mechanics trying to rip off customers with little or no knowledge about cars. I am one with no knowledge. Where do you do your business? If you're in LA, i want to go to have my car serviced no matter how far you are in LA!
Jay Lee thanks. Yea this is my passion. I love working on cars.i do hate to see other mechanics out there that just guess. But it happens. I'm actually in Texas hence the Texas flag that's up. But I could recommend you a mechanic that's from there. My girlfriends dad use to live in LA. And he's really picky when it comes to choosing mechanics
Who cares if the video editing or quality isn’t so great. The knowledge you share and honesty you have is what counts. Don’t worry about the thumbs down either, haters will always give people thumbs down. Thank you for sharing!! 👍🏼 👍🏼

I didn't know that a simple test on a cooling system is so important so basicly what I learned is that don't think only about the big stuff in a car , but look at the smaller things too. Thanks buddy . Please do more videos on Benz . God bless you :)
Nice to come across a mechanic with integrity, good stuff. Maybe worth pointing out to learners that even though you found the cap to be faulty it's still good practice to check the rest of the system also. Thumbs up
I have coolant leaks on two vehicles. 1997 Toyota Camry 2.2 4 cylinder and a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0. And they’re both kicking my ass. I hope this video helps me because I really want to be a mechanic someday but I can’t even figure a simple coolant leak out😂
Perfect timing to find this video. This is exactly what I am experiencing, and with you showing both caps, the good and the bad, It definitely helped to diagnose my leak problem. Thanks much. Excellent video!
I'm glad I watched this video I had a small leak on my Bonneville and it started getting worse so I took it to my garage and have them do a pressure check on it and nothing was leaking and I asked him to check the cap and that's what it was I would have never thought of it thanks.
Wow! Thanks for the tip and video. I'm having to add coolant every other day with no visible leaks. I'm going to check my cap tomorrow. You probably saved me a bunch of $$$! I really appreciate it. You just got a new subscriber! 👍🏽
Not sure why anyone is giving a thumbs down. I thought it was a great video, didn't waste anytime on nonsense. Here I am heating my car up to find a leak. Thanks for the training!
Any honest mechanic like this guy in sacramento ca? Good job Brother i wish i was near LA would love to stop by your shop. Best of luck on your career and thank you for saving me money.
larry Johnson the closet one to you that I know is brian from briansmobile but he's in Sacramento. And I'm actually in Texas. And thank you very much. It really means a lot when I receive comments like yours. Just made my day
I'd like to thank you for ur video on coolant caps I'm a woman on my own who has to do what I can myself I've been losing coolant and could not figure out where from until I saw ur video thank you very much 😊
Angela Peck awesome I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Also if you haven’t notice we have an Oz Mechanics store if you would like to support the channel please feel free to check out our items for sale
Thanks for the video and being and honest person!!!! I’m watching this video because just last night I noticed my coolant is leaking out under my truck… I have a new radiator so I don’t know what’s going on! Last week I noticed my coolant was low so I filled it and now it’s low again and leaking 😳 Yes I’m going to crawl under my truck now and look! 😭🌵✌🏼
ok this was very helpful. I have a very bad coolant leak. i never thought about testing the cap for pressure. thank you so much! hopefully this will fix my problem
I am surfing to find out about coolant leaks as my is leaking and came across your video, really enjoyed this, especially your own discovery of bad cap.
love honest people and like your honesty, some mechanic rip me off telling all kind of bs and only he did was change the cap i found out, you go high in life this way. good work!
That was such great information. We have a 2000 Impala that has just had the heads and gaskets done. It still overheats. We bypassed the heater core thinking that might be the problem. It wasn't. There is no evidence of a leak, that we can find anywhere. Yet all the fluids are gone each time. I will now go rent a tester to see if that is our problem which would explain why we cant see a dripping leak..
Thanks so much, I need to test this.. I have used 5l coolant this last month and can't see leaks. I know nothing about cars and this is so helpful thanks.
Last year I could get the pressure tester from Autozone for $25 and return it for my money back. I should have kept it. Now they want $250 for a kit that looks like its for a radiator shop. Advance Auto Parts is well over $300. O'Reilly has one similar to the standard in the video for around $80. You can buy a new kit at Harbor Freight for $85 if you want to open your own radiator shop, but the $25 pressure testers are history. I tried 5 different pawn shops and put an ad on Craigslist but no luck.
pete peterson yea when I first started I would get them that cheap as well. Don't forget to subscribe and hit the notification bell to get notifications on new videos. Thanks for watching
Iv beeb having problems with the cooling system too, I'm glad to learn that it could be any of these things, radiator/water pump or the cap! Very enlightening:)
Have a leak in my car so I had to buy a new overflow bottle but I'm glad i came across this video, will have to check the cap out aswell! Thanks bro. Very informative. Edit: Came on here to see how to install one lol.
Find a good honest mechanic like this guy stick with them and treat them well. I thought I was going to have to replace the wiring harness and wires (in my type of car that's 6 grand) long story short it ended up being fixed by 2 $1.27 engine bolts AND he didn't even charge me for the diagnostic fee and time that alot of mechanics like to milk as much as possible for those quick repairs. I was obviously quite jubilant about this. The mechanic impressed me so much with his honesty and courtesyc, so I took him out for a steak and lobster dinner paid for his drinks as well. In my mind he saved me 6 grand so what's a 200 dollar dinner in comparison. Next to nothing lol. But hey another plus side when I come in for general maintenance or repairs I'm always prioritized to the front! What I'm saying here is treat a good mechanic well and I guarantee you'll get that same respect back. And this guy seems really similar to the mechanic I go to. TAKE YOUR MECHANIC FOR STEAK AND LOBSTER. or whatever the favorite food is. They work harder than you know for less than you'd think.
Nyci T thank you very much for watching. This are the comments that make me want to keep on making these videos. Don't forget to subscribe and hit the notification bell to get notifications on new videos. Thanks for watching

Excellent information, but please keep the video a little more stable ,but i have subscribed to you ,your ethics are very good, for not overcharging your customer.
MHCH MHCH thank you. I recently bought a camera stand but broke it. So I have some new video with good stability. Feel free to check out my new coolant leak test
Great video I've been trying to find the coolant leak in my old chevy venture I'm tired of taking it to mechanics that take advantage of the customers, at this point I have basicly paid to change the radiator, the water pump the condenser the termosthat and every time is just a temporal fix, I love this car and I dont wanna get rid of it, but because of dishonest mechanics I been expending probably more that the car is worth, where is your shop? Dont worry about the thumbs down they are probably coming from the dishonest persons that want to continue to steal from their customers👍👍👍👍👍👍
I just went thru this with my 2012 Silverado HD Diesel. Pressure test didn’t reveal “nothing that dripped on the floor” - found out later that is because there is a shield underneath as well as a ton of other parts that a leak can hit and gather prior to making its way to the floor. It takes looking in the nooks and crannies for gathered fluid and not trust the floor.
I've learned a lot! Thank you so much. And certain things come with the territory. Your video didn't make me dizzy. Thumbs up and new subscriber. Do you have any personal knowledge of a good and trustworthy mechanic like yourself here in the Minneapolis Minnesota area?
I really appreciate this video. I was concerned why my toyota yaris always had a bit of some water after overfilling it with the coolant until I realise that it had a safety breathing valve to release some pressure and water. LOL I thought it was leaking. Strangely I never had the same problem on my dodge caliber
Hey man, thanks! Great video that taught me some very useful knowledge! I normally don't comment much but you asked at the end, so I thought I'd give you my $0.02. I gave you a thumbs up, but I bet that the majority of those few who thumbed you down were because of the lack of editing. Find a cheap/free video editing program that you like (there are several out...i'm no expert on video editing so you'll have to google around) and then just cut out the parts where you were fumbling with the camera. It'd shorten the video time and probably annoy less people. Otherwise, very solid video.
Hey I have the same motor and the problem I have is that when I check my coolant in the mornings Im low in coolant but my car doesn't overheat and thanks for posting this video!!! Should I test it the same way you did?
Glad i watched this. I can just cut a bike inner tube, stretch 1 end over inlet, other over outlet, & my bike pump will hook right up to it. Might need zip ties, but... Edit: worked like a charm!!! Idk if this guy took his radiator all the way out, but i wouldn't have found the leak without doing that. But yeah... Fukin old innertube, bike pump, &next - jb weld (fingers crossed)

I love the tin sign you have hanging behind you. "Hell hath no fury like a Dad whose tools are missing." I can totally relate. Great vid bud.
Keith thank you very much. Sign was a gift from my sister. Everyone loves that sign
Or in my case, a woman whos husband didn't put her tools back in there proper place, drives me crazy!

When people value their customers and actually help them forget what they charge this man deserves mpre than original pay.
Don't worry about the thumbs down, you can't make everyone happy bro. Great vid thanks!
Eddie Villalobos thanks man. Yea I've realized that. You really can't please everyone. But the part that sucks is that all this is free

I just went thru this with my 2012 Silverado HD Diesel. Pressure test didn’t reveal “nothing that dripped on the floor” - found out later that is because there is a shield underneath as well as a ton of other parts that a leak can hit and gather prior to making its way to the floor. It takes looking in the nooks and crannies for gathered fluid and not trust the floor.
great video. my radiator fluid is getting low. but no leaks or stain on the ground. ill have to check the cap. by cap is white stains.
