  • Full title reads: "The Royal Tour - Round The World with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh - Fiji and Tonga". Credits at the start item.
    Children playing in a river. Village scenes, gardening, sweeping outside of huts, repairing coconut palm roof, riding a horse through village, WS village with tethered horses. Sandy beaches and blue Pacific Ocean. WS scenes of capital town Nuku'alofa, locals dressed up and passing the Wesleyan church, some wear traditional costumes. A group of women prepare bark for traditional printing. The Royal Palace, palm leaves unloaded for the Royal feast. Queen Salote walks in garden with the British Resident. Her Royal daughters feeding the tortoise left by Captain Cook. Tree full of flying foxes (Bats). Crowds gather at quayside and military band marches and plays.
    Flying boat in air, interior plane as it approaches the island and lands. Elizabeth and Philip step ashore and are greeted by Queen Salote and entourage. Troop inspection. Big sign says "Welcome" and within the letters children's arms wave flags. Salote and Elizabeth drive in an open car past crowds at the palace. CU Tongan faces. Local V.I.P's meet the Queen, some in Traditional costume made from palm leaves, they sit in long lines for an enormous feast. Traditional dancing and singing takes place in the palace gardens.
    Salote shakes hands with the Royals as the leave the quayside to continue the tour on to New Zealand. Lots of waving as the launch heads out to S.S. "Gothic".

    I think this is a wonderful thing that occurred between two cultures, and a coming togetherness. We need more of this. It's a great part of the polynesian history and for the world.

      Absolutely correct, as a indigenous Fijian I really want more of this. Tonga and fiji knows this but, we need to come together once like this every one or two years will be nice and recognise our culture. Love my toko. Bula vinaka.
