Seeing a one handed matchup is always so fun to watch
Yes absolutely and a great opportunity for MP as young upcoming tennis star to play against probably the best ohbh players and from the highlights Stan did not disappoint like the point at 0:40
Very impressive performance from Stan, the way he was returning those 230+ km/h serves from Mpetshi Perricard was incredible.
Stan's always had a good block return. And GMP does rely on speed a bit too much, should mix up his serves a bit more, just like Shelton.
Stan's always been good at block returns and that's the best way to deal with GMP's serve
Stan the man has still got it but what's impressive is this no name player is using the now extinct one hander backhand. It is so rare nowadays.
@@jonfreeman9682 GMP won his first ATP (250) tournament in Lyon this year :)
Just Perricard is too bad, I like Stan, but his shots and moving are far from his best. But still happy for Stan
I'm so happy for Stan ❤

wawrinka. still the most beautiful backhand on the tour ...
That goes to Dimitrov

Stan is 39 what a beast this guy is!
Still the most beautiful backhand around

He channeled his inner Federer.
@@pbonacina69 hell no. maybe the best but not most beautiful
So glad that Stan The Man managed to win that one ! I'm french but if Mpetshi-Perricard had won I would have felt sad
you are a true fan.
Stan the man's Fanbase is unreal.
best backhand in history...
So heartwarming to see Stan playing well 😎
One handed backhand will live forever
Only watching this for Stan's backhand
gotta enjoy every single one of Stan's wins, it will be a sad sad day when he decides to retire, one of my fav players of all time
Wawrinka at 39 years old still has the best and most majestic one-handed backhand on tour.
As a Swiss, I'm so happy that Stan the Man won, also for him! And deservedly so! I also love the color of his clothes, he looks good - not so fast and agile anymore, but he can shift up a gear there and then win even more, keep it up, Stan! And his backhand - a dream.
nah the light pink is so girly whats up with that looks dufus
@@Lauren-vd4qe he's always had funny outfits. Remember the Pyjama pants on his French Open title run?
@@al1976-v7m dont think i recall that one, i was so un bedazzled by ostapenkos ridiculous minnie mouse outfits that looked like they were made by her granny....
Wawrinka's backhand needs entry to the hall of fame!
Men see Wawrinka win, men happy
imagine losing to the most beautiful backhand with a tummy... you can't hate that. ❤
0:37 "Quak" 🦆
I like that there's an actual mallard emoticon rather than a generic duck.
Stan wins his first match since the Olympics, it's been a tough season for him, maybe a sign of the end of his career but class is permanent.
He's 39, he looks good but doesn't have endurance anymore.
"Class?" Interesting. 🤔
Wawrinka still can hit the ball very well. At 39 years old he can still hold his own on the main tour.
Stan's style is so elegant and a joy to watch.
So nice to see Stan Wawrinka still playing like this at age 39! Congrats to him!👏👏 Big win, Mpetschi Perricard is a hard adversary!💪🎾Also big match from Berrettini, won in two tiebreaks!👏🇮🇹
Happy for Stan and super happy for Matteo Berrettini 💚🤍❤️
Stan the man, Ronaldo, LeBron James, and Luka Modric 4 legends at 39 still playing the sports they love, thank you guys ❤
STAN THE MAN👏
Good to see Stan back on the court. this guy at his best was impossible to beat
Roll back the clock Mr Stan 🔥🔥
Stan is still the man!
My name is Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard but everybody calls me Giorgio
His nickname is Petsch
He said (at Wimby) he doesn't really care but most people call him "Gio" or "Joe". I couldn't really tell because of his accent. But I'll find it again as that full name IS a mouth full! 😂🎾💕
God damn, Wawrinka is so good.
lets not curse God, He is listening. good luck getting into Heaven when your days are done if u talk like that.
As many one handers as double handers, thankfully we're not a dying breed
Happy for Stan and the enduring elegance of his game! ❤
Every time we think Stan's career is over, he bounces back. Cool guy.
Stan is the man!
Zhang should come forward more. He's pretty good at the net.
The handshake between stan and mpetshi🥶
That arrogant wannabe-hero Mp*tshi-P*rricard seems to be quite pi**ed at the end, that he was defeated by a guy almost twice as old as him. WONDERFUL. REALLY LOVE THAT
So glad and happy to see stan is back. !
He isn't back. He faced an opponent who was a pretty good matchup for him. No rallye tolerance and not much of a mover himself. That said, i love Stan and wish him good results to end his career.
@@al1976-v7m Shut up, crybaby...😂🤣
What is going on with Zhang? Two first round exits in a row, China Open and now Shanghai, after a pretty good showing in Hangzhou. Hope he can reign in his up-and-down level, because when he's on, he's really good.
Yea looks like he hasn't recovered mentally from that loss against Cilic in Hangzhou.
Competition is tough. Top 41-100 usually had similar skills. Mental toughness is also very important.
Even player in top 10, if started to lose in early rounds , sometimes find it hard to claw back to top 10 again.
He is not a good player.. overranked
He played Bergs who's had some big wins in Davis Cup recently and is high on confidence at the moment!
Because bu and shang absorbed his energy😂
For a much older man than Stan, it was so exciting to see Wawrinka play so well @ 39!
Good job Wawrinka.....
Sweeeeeeeeeeet for Stan the Man!!! Oh yeah! Always great to see the greatest one handed backhand in tennis history in action!
Vintage Wawrinka :) Nice to see two players with a single handed backhand playing !
Happy to see Stan win!
O Connell fumbled hard on that first set lol
Pretty cold handshake at the net from Mpetshi Perricard there. Should pay a little more respect to someone who has paved the way for so many players.
Can't blame him. He lost to a 39 year old who's well past his prime. Even if he is a legend.
Wawrinka didn't pave the way for anyone
French are arrogant, not humble. Mpetshi, just has plan A ( serve serve serve )
@@gb5663 With his one handed back hand oh and I guess the 3 grand slams mean nothing let alone all the finals he made
That arrogant wannabe-hero Mp*tshi-P*rricard seems to be quite pi**ed at the end, that he was defeated by a guy almost twice as old as him. WONDERFUL. REALLY LOVE THAT
I'm so proud of my compatriote Zizou Bergs! What an athlete!
Yep he's great and his name is even greater! Steady climb in ATP rankings, i'm curious how high he can get. I think he might avenge his French Open loss to Dimitrov in the next round!
I saw Berrettini at Gstaad, he has a sick slice.
Congrats Stan!🎉🎉🎉
Let's Go Stan..he's still got it!!
Not easy to win against Zhang. To do this in straight sets is impressive!
Wawrinka ❤️
This Martinez… how many different sounds you are going to make?
There should be special trophy for his opponent to endure those sounds.
Thought the same thing. Very annoying grunts. ATP and WTA should do something about this...
This kid is a dope! That's the handshake / greeting you give a legend at the net? WTF‼
You can tell there was tension I saw it lol
Maybe he was disappointed with himself for not playing at his best and losing to a 39 year old adulterer who slept with a TEENAGER (allegedly)! But to hell with that as long as legends produce and entertain, all is well right? 🤔
@@AlwaysPur3 of course there was tension because Gio held a set point in that second set tiebreak. But no hard feelings i think.
@@godz4ever404lol when did that happen ? I've never heard of that before 😂😂😂
He looked him in the eye and shook his hand. What do you want him to do, give Stan a BJ?
Stan is the Man , way to go !
Stan the Man.
MP needs massive work on his footwork if he wants to stand a chance opposite tennis legends like Stan, even at 39. Super static (for an ATP pro) and if he wants to serve and volley he has a looooong way to go in terms of movement.
Still 21 though so he has time to grow.
Stan’s backhand = most beautiful one-hander in history.
Stan the man❤
Staaaaan!!! Love it! Predator mode found today
Wawrinka has good level here. If he keeps in this level, he gone go deep here.
Mpetshi Perricard, u could said a word to wawrinka, and smile, u had play with stan the man. Stay humble, and stop oreo
our stan the man come back, bravo
At the age of 39, Stan still can play so solid
Stan is moving well. Hope he gets a good run of health to finish his career strong.
Glad for Stan but sad for Zhang. Really like that guy.
Pericard backhand needs alot of support 😮💨
My only regret in this life would be not seeing stan play irl🥲🥲🥲
Us man Us.
Stanimal rocks 🚀
Mpetshi Perricard really has to work on his mobility.
Zizou is so underrated
Love Stan…his backhand is in my dreams
Perricard well suited to the womans tour with that less than friendly handshake with a legend
Bergs will be top 20 next year.
Perricard started off arrogantly "I'm gonna toy with this guy". Stan the man wouldn't have any of it. Great stuff!
ワウリンカ凄すぎ。
Waw, so chill 🤟🏼
roger & stan are speciaux when they win everyone is happy, from switzerland what country!!!
LMAO Mpetshi looked so defeated giving Stan the hand shake. Probably thought it was gonna be an easy win
I don't think he underestimated Stan. Stan's not moving great, but neither is Gio. Everyone knows Stan can still hit the ball pretty well.
Stan the man!
Man come on Mpetshi Perricard - give the legend a warm handshake. Stan is a legend and schooled you with his experience. Appreciate the moment and give the veteran his props. He won't be around much longer.
It was a perfectly acceptable handshake. I swear there are a ton of "fans" who care more about the stupid handshake than the match
It was limp with zero eye contact. He’s just a servebot that would be nowhere near the sport if he wasn’t 10 ft
Mpetshi Perricard has had a HORRENDOUS hard court season in North America and Asia. He has an incredibly powerful game but when it starts to go wrong he can completely collapse. Looks devoid of confidence, needs to turn it around asap, plenty of players have had big games but slipped away into obscurity
tbh he can only serve, he goes big on every shot because his ability to rally is not even top 100 level. i still can't comprehend how he won in lione (especially on clay and against clay courters) and imo he will fall back to his real level that is definitely not top 50. i don't hate him, it's just my honest opinion, if he proves me wrong great for him!
Can anyone thump a backhand with such rock solid elegance than Stan the Man, a thing of brutal beauty ❤
He's still young and it's only natural for him to get tight against the best players on big points. He moves quite well for a guy his size and clay is actually his best surface. He grew up on it and it gives him a bit of extra time (whether setting up his shots or moving up to the net) and bounce on the serve.
They need to fine Martinez for noise pollution. He's the worst.
absolutely agree, this is so annoying to watch
Huge grunting should be a hinderance.
His ground is 1000% better than sonego and sabalenka grunt 😂😂😂😂
If they fine him, I would consider as normal to ban Sabalenka from ever playing the game again.
it was annoying. He even made that noise with slice backhand.
Stan the Man! 🎾 💪🦾🔨💪🫕
この前の東京の決勝といい、フランスのテニス界の未来は明るくて羨ましいね
レジェンドに負けてしまったけど気にすることはないよ
What to hell is wrong with Martinez, he screams even louder than Sabalenka, Sharapova and Azarenka together 🤯😤
Wawrinka still has top 10 tennis level. It's his lack of fitness from old age and too much wear and tear from the toils of the tours over the years... that's what's letting him down from consistently producing that top 10 level over the course of a match and, in turn, that makes him susceptible to mental fragilities and giving up when demoralised. Today however was not one of those sad cases, and his match here showed us why he was so deadly and so elite in his prime slam winning years. Sensational stuff from Stan.
OMG this no name player is using the now extinct one hander backhand. Didn't know this was still taught in tennis school but great to see there's still a few new players using the old style.
Still the Man 😎
Surprised Berrettini could play after he pulled out with an abdominal strain just a few days ago. So hopefully nothing too serious or just a matter of precaution.
Keep grinding and growing Gio, the results will come esp on hardcourts. Great job "Triple B" (Big, Beautiful, Berrettini)! 🎉 Now, what's going on with Triple Z's game lately? He has to be injured. 😢
The best match was kotov watanuki and you didn’t bother to include it
Thr commenting lady obviously mixed up the pronunciation of Double Z and Triple Z...
is it just me or is the stanimal looking a bit leaner and fitter than he has the last couple of years?
MP Big dude.!
Mpetshi perricard is good. He just makes mistakes that u don't see a pro player make.
Stan.
Why Mpetshi so salty? He didn’t even play bad Stan just played amazing. The guy got nervous in that last point, gotta be better than that if you wanna move on.
He is not salty.
What did he do that is "salty"?
How is he salty bro? He is one of most humble and quiet guys on the tour right now. He never argues complains or does anything bad
@@amphiprionoccelaris5198 he wasn't salty, just disappointed. His relative inexperience and nerves showed up in the tiebreaks, just like last week in Bejing.
he s french not him fault , if he arrogant, and not humble
Martinez grunt is worse than sonego's, I had to mute😂
Queria tanto assistir mas gira asiática pra quem vive na América do Sul é doloroso
ATP tour must really take care of its players, the courts are slow, the balls are even slower, its like watching a clay court match..many players will develop wrist & shoulder injuries in the long run after trying to wack the living daylights out of such sponge balls😢
it is quite fast actually
Try watching Indian Wells next year if this seems slow to you.
Give Zhang a racket with less spin and he would be stronger.
