    This is an ant keeping hobbyist's dream! The ant farm in this video is something I have absolutely fantasized about having as a kid! In this vlog, we explore the incredible, mind-blowing Atta sp. exhibit of the Espace pour la vie Montreal Insectarium. The exhibit houses a 7 yr old colony of leafcutter ants living in acrylic containers and a network of branches, flowers, and plants.
    What makes the exhibit so amazing is that the setup allows for the display of the leafcutter ant workers' foraging behaviours, where they seek out plat matter, cut up the selected leaves and flowers, and carry these huge plants pieces back to the nest where they proceed to chew them up and cultivate the most impressive fungus gardens, which nourish the entire ant colony. We explore in this video just how spectacular these ants and this setup are! Hope you enjoy an epic ant geeking out session!

    • @JarvisPatterson01
      @JarvisPatterson01 6 лет назад +39

      The marijuana plant leaves do not contain much THC (the psycho active thing in weed) even then unprepared marijuana does not affect the human body. You have to put it through a process called de carbing. Basically you heat it so you are able to digest it. Smoking marijuana heats it as it turns into smoke so you do not have to “cook it”. Even then I do not know much about ants or how they digest anything but if I had to put money on it I would say they would look the same.

    • @matthewr1207
      @matthewr1207 6 лет назад +22

      @@JarvisPatterson01 you're saying that about a human however, ants are much smaller and would as so require a much smaller dosage to be effective.

      not really mate.
      ants are tiny in comparison to us.
      also: the leaves are in fact processed... by the fungus... where the reaction does in fact resolve in the needed reaction to trigger the effect.
      the fungus that the ants eat would have much higher THC levels than e.g. a simple joint.

You see most of these ants wrre2 dark red in color and there were 3 kinds the queens the workers and the guards (the ones with the huge jaws) and a bright orange guard appeared one day he was humongous and there was no other like him. Me and my brother called him Sun god. Eventually a hurricane here down in florida hit and they were still there until we stopped seeing sungod and they died out

You might be able to put 2 tanks together to increase the height and have a side entrance for cleaning and feeding. Or open top and use a ladder lol. Just a thought

    And if they escaped in the Philippines they would probably survive and disrupt the local ecosystem quite alot

    They help ants by keeping the species safe, they help humans by giving them insight on ants and they help the environment by keeping the ants from possibly spreading diseases to plants.

      Don't sweat it, my friend. I speak only English and understood you just fine. Ants much like snakes get a bad reputation. If people took the time to learn more, they wouldn't be so prejudice against them. Keep the English study up, you are doing well and good luck.

    Omg! Hi mikey! Im feom Montreal and seing this video took me many years back when i was a kid my father took me to the insectarium and i remember the exact set up. See, this colony might be seven years old but the set up it way older! I think i was 7 years old myself when i forst saw this (and it was like a new installation for the insectarium, witch was thereason of our visit) so if my math is correct, the installation will be 15 years old this summer! It was much smaller back then, there was only 2 or 3 acrilic fongus farms! How facinating to be brought back in time like that!
