Unfortunately that is what the ielts needs. They want you to talk continously without any silences. You have to talk in a strict way. Remember English is probably not her first language. Ielts is mandatory for her, especially for jobs and universities.

I am great with speaking and listening, though Writing is what i'm worse at. Grammar issues and reusing words. It's ridiculous but at the end, at least i got 6.5 points, just enough for me to go study abroad. I agree that people with more natural and fluid english is often overlooked.

This is how I sound when I take my Spanish tests, it is how my friend sounds when she takes her French tests, and it is how my friend who is a Korean exchange student sounds when he is taking his English tests. This is the ‘Academic IELTS’, she should not sound like she is talking to a friend, because that is not the point of the course. I sounded very similar in my Mandarin Chinese Speaking Exams, although I can speak it much more naturally in real life, because I had to deliver my arguments in a certain way.
