    Long, long ago there was a kid's marionette which only had a horizontal support stick above it in the shape much like an overgrown lolly stick which supported the marionette and by the operator gently tapping down on the stick above the marionette's head, it would make the marionette do what looked like Riverdance. That would be an interesting project.

      I've heard them called limberjacks (in the US), but apparently they have dozens of names! From Wikipedia:
      UK/Aus - Jig doll; dancing doll; busker's puppet; clogger; jigger; Mr. Jollyboy or Mrs. Jollyboy, etc.
      USA - limberjack; limberjill; limbertoy; paddle puppet; stick puppet; Dancing Dan or Dancin' Dan; Dapper Dan; Dancing Jo or Dancin' Jo; Stepping Sam or Steppin' Sam, etc.
      In French-speaking parts of Canada they are referred to as les gigueux.

    Funny piezo wiring, its not a voltage divider but a short-circuit to the piezo if turned full ccw. Is that on purpose to reduce noise or just out of the moment?

    • @LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER
      @LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER  2 года назад +3

      it works well. usually all inputs on synths are pretty high impedance. this works better and acts like a good volume voltage control and is more useful than wiring it so the centre pot is the output, as this will cause a sink if anything else is plugged in aswell. obviously if i buffered the output i would wire it the other way. but when you keep designs cut back and simple you bend the rules and 9 times out of 10 it makes fudge all difference anyway. but it does still react like a voltage dividing volume control

    • @LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER
      @LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER  2 года назад +3

      its better to short circuit the piezo than short circuit the output, so its a weigh up between the two :)

    I grew up going to the studio my dad worked nights at. The owner of said studio was also a professional fisher. He was absolutely obsessed with everything fish related. Literally had a half million dollar fishing boat built into a custom garage that connected to his office. When the bass fish musical thing came out he immediately made his own version and ordered many, many thousands of them thinking they would sell like hotcakes. Nope. Years later I had a box filled with the innards. Haha eventually threw it out cause I didn’t know what to do with it. Guess I could have made a synth. Haha
