Those keys are the colors of my teeth...I’m officially vintage, lol
Could be a business idea: teeth color key stickers to make your cheap behringer stuff look more vintage. 🤣
That’s fuckin rank but it made me laugh fucks sake 😭💀
Got so much tartar you don't have to dip your fish sticks in sh*t
You must be British lol
Matt's so funky that even the gap at 5:00 is exactly 4 bars, like some 70's MC.
This guy is so likeable, I’m not even a keyboardist but I can watch these videos for days.
but you like synthesizers lol,you want to play but you didn't try to learn
"Playing the sound" is the single most important aspect of synth playing.
I can do that on my behringer poly d and model d or phatty little moog
He's Always dropping Knowledge. I'm chasing skills and not samples. Notice how clean his runs are. Thousands of hours of scales, thats the magic. Ya'll can find me in the lab. Best to all those out there
Matt, you have been making my weekends so much better amongst all this chaos. I'm being thaught funky beats by one of my childhood's favorite musicians. Thanks for doing this man!
So true!
I was gonna ask a question but just watched the video and all questions answered.
A real master is someone who makes something ingenious seem so simple, being able to break it down in excellent explanations. Amazing video. Amazing sound. Amazing playing. Thank you Matt!
You're a legend and deserve way more than 50k subs, seriously.
People don't appreciate a musician and a instrument these days unless he is playing some body's else's sampled licks via a computer. The music business is all B.S.
I thought I had. Sorry about that, just fixed it. Catching up on the past month's vids. He's up to 63.8k since your comment, so if it was accurate at the time... progress!
deserves 1 million plus!

@@midiman5045 why do FKJ, Vulfpeck, Snarky Puppy and more do so well on RUclips then? Give this channel time and it will blossom, no doubt about it.
4:35 - Every time MJ says "Let me try that with a beat" you better strap in...
Man, I've been trying to learn some funky basslines on keyboards for like 10 years now, but never found anyone that explained it nearly as good as you, you're doing gods work sir.
He didn’t explain the main part, how to program the fucking sound.
Oh my God.. seriously..man this is holy shit.!!!!.u have been searching for this kinda video since 6 years in RUclips..today u posted it.thanks a ton❤
So spicy......
cool to see you here!
♪ ♬ ヾ(´︶`♡)ノ ♬ ♪
Trilled those D, E keys into the service shop.
Now I just need a MASTER level understanding of jazz harmony, amazing compositional skills, and a Moog... then I'll make Stevie Wonder level music! 😂
With a mono synth, at least you only need to know harmony one note at a time lol
This!!! THIS is why I love Matt's vids!! Unlike Rick Beato's "and now comes this part...", Matt actually explains you the WHY and the HOW!
Hahahaha
50 k subscriber at such level of Art Practice ?! While stupid synth demonstrators are doing millions.. I tell you world is going crazy. Thanks a lot for these pure moments of joy and lessons ...
man, you are starting so big the funk that you will received pourcentage of each next gen song till 2040
I'm always happy for a new alert from this channel. On a different note, if you turn off the autofocus on the camera, you won't see the lens "breath" when it choses a new focus point. Obv, you risk recording an entire session out of focus if the manual focus point if off.
One of the best keys players on the scene today love it definitely gives me tons of inspiration
Back again, just love you Matt. It was a Jamiroquai song called Blow Your Mind, I first heard in the early 90s in a GAP store, and I hounded the poor girl working there until she finally came back with the name of the band- boom. Been into your work ever since. Thanks buddy.
These videos are gold! I love how clearly you explain the ideas with little jargon. Makes it easy for me as a non keyboard player synth owner to follow along and pick up ideas for my own playing
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. Thanks for putting this stuff up. Excellent master class. Love how simply you break it down and the things you point out are essential and hearing them from you the way you speak of them is essential. Ultimate vibes to you!
God bless you man for giving us joy in these hard times. Keep these coming. Every video you have has been so far above the rest of RUclips in terms of wisdom, quality and relevance.
Although I wouldn't be able to play like this in 100 years I can easily grasp the concept really clearly! Goes to show how well you're doing explaining these. So so good 👏🏾
Of all the funky goodness and tips in this video, I appreciate the advice about sound design and sitting in the mix the most. So important.
Great content, as always, Matt!
Matt, just wanted to add my thanks to the already massive and well deserved positive feedback ! You’re a wonderful teacher, this is great fun to learn your playing style, I replicated the bass sound with my Matrixbrute but as you said, playing makes the difference, not the sound, hence will keep up learning and having fun ! Thanks again
I'm appreciating this channel. Right from the heart of our idols.
Your so great!!! Best synth bass tutorial I've ever seen and ive seen a few. Im a huge fan. Its so dope your such an iconic player and you are making dope content at the same time and let everyone drool over your studio!!! THANK YOU!!
This channel is a gold mine! You'll be to 100k in no time. It's your giving nature and talent
Wooot! soo super funky!! You are such a musical genius Matt! Keep it up.
Thank you Mr Johnson!! I worked on it for a couple days and I’m getting the technique down!! Please don’t stop anything 😂🎉🎉🎉
What a great guide, thanks Matt for being so generous with your knowledge, it's very much appreciated 🙂
Awesome to see you have doubled subs in the last year! This video is very well done thank you!
Matt, I love your work and show! Keep up the good work, Sir!
I love the „fastness“ of you fingers and play that like easy. 🎹❤️🎧🎼👍
Dude I was dancing to this whole lesson lol. The moog bass groove can't be avoided.
Love your work Matt.
We love you Matt! Your Moog bass is like no other!!
Awesome once again. Every time you post i try to learn exactly what you've played and then question the validity of "just copying" what you've done, but then Iater have a "Wax on wax off" moment and realise that the techniques get absorbed for when I next just have a jam. Keep em coming!
Matt, this is such a high quality video, super clear and to the point. I can barely contain the funk in this video!
To me by far the one of the best content on RUclips! Love it. "High-grade" content. Provided by an "industry professional" and not from "RUclips influencer"! Thank you for sharing
Great advice, awesome playing and gorgeous moog, thanks.
Ohhh how good is that! You are definitely my all time best keyboard teacher, thank you so much!
Man! Your funking good! Thank you. These are fabulous little tricks that give that bass line life.
This knowledge and enlightenment from a top professional is like gold dust! Thank you so much! 😀
This is great stuff! And from a master whose synth riffs I've been admiring for so long!
Matt I love your vids so much ! thank you a lot!
Love when pros drop practical useful wisdom without overwhelming you
Another smasher, Matt. Thanks!
Your vids have been incredibly helpful and inspiring to me. Thanks so much!
This channel is a goldmine for a beginner player. So much wisdom shared, and the simple things that usually get overlooked by many videos, are brought to the forefront. I’m inspired, lucky I got a poly d for Christmas!
The joy is infectious.
beginner ? 40 years after i learn so much with him
I can't thank you enough for your videos. So informative. Thanks being such a kind and sharing person.
Just awesome. You play and sound amazing.
Thank you so much for your videos. They are so educational and inspirational!!
Love it how you control impeccable tempo, when you speak over the beat and bring the bass back.
These are so special. Thank you for making them.
Thanks Matt. your tutorials are pure gold.
7:50 So wise words... to get a sound is easy but to use it is a different story... Thank You so very much for sharing all this. Bless You !
That sound: soooo good! Feeling the funk!
Great video! 🙏🏽💓
Getting my daily hit of Matt Johnson as my way of stopping and smelling the roses.
This channel will grow and grow and grow.. personally i been keeping it locked right here. thank you very much Matt for continuing to post.
Thanks for these awesome videos, learning a lot from you!
This takes me back 40 years to all the music stores I ever visited just to 'gah' over the then-unobtainable Oberheims, Prophets, Crumars, that Kurz 100, all the rest. (Eventually I got a used DX7 - joy).
DX7 rules! I'd love to see Matt get funky with some of those dope "cliché" DX7 tones.
Great sound. Great playing. Great video! Thank you so much.
That Moog looks like its earned its supper over the years! beautiful bit of kit.
Awesome as always sir.
I love your play!
Hi Matt,
i have the moog reissue of the model D and because of my playing technique i was feeling that
i didn t deserve it.
After watching this video i have understood all that really matters to play nice basss lines
i am going to work hard to play like you.
Once again thank you so much Matt.
This is the best channel on u tube for synth technique.
and stay safe!
Best regards from France
Again a nice and very helpful lession. Thanks Mat for the video🔥🙏
love your channel, so many nuggets brother!! thank you!
Amazing quality content thank you. It’s great that you share your insight like this. So grateful.
Excellent video Matt, I have been trying to integrate synth sounds with my band mates (guitars and drums) with little success and usually end up with as you say 'bread and butter sounds'. Watching you play and hearing the different sounds through your techniques is so refreshing as the context is there. Thanks again and I will look through your other videos for more on playing keys in a band.
Super Great! I really like your playing!
Thanks Matt. I'm practice this on my Yamaha CS-15. Grateful for your input
I never thought I could learn so much about how to make a good bass line.
Another great video Matt, many thanks!!
Matt you are a f... legend! From that video I was able to 100% replicate that sound on my Poly D (so kudos to Uli Behringer as well!). Its such a fun to vibe around with it!
Thanks Matt, that was great, I got lots of ideas from that, thank you for sharing and very best wishes, Neil
Exactly the video i needd today!
Thanks for this really useful explanations!

Brilliant, I love the sound of the Moog on my ipad. Obviously it's not got anywhere near the same sound as the original analogue but it's great fun and your playing tips are invaluable. Thanks so much for sharing 🙏🏾
This is great, so many tips! Thanks.
Superb Matt!
Thanks for sharing the technique. It’s what I’ve been missing. 👍
As a guitar player and a middling keys player I thoroughly enjoyed this, thanks!
Very good Vid. Thank you for sharing this with us. You are GOOD!
just what i was looking for, and from the funky master. Thanks Matt
Really enjoyed this and will make good use of your tips.
52.4 k subscribers and rising! Keep it up!
I'll never learn to play like you but these videos are a great help when I'm creating styles for Band-In-A-Box.
Wow! Thank you very much for sharing Matt. Excellent. Cheers.
fantastic Matt, cheers!
Love that fat Sound 😻 your workshops are brilliant..keep up the great tutorials
Wow! Super tutorial! Thanks for this!
