I am using Ditto+ for that purpose exactly, I loaded metronome pulses and backing tracks, and drum loops here I have all without all my work this is awesome
Derek, thanks for this extensive demo and tutorial on loading and playing backing tracks with the NUX JTC Pro looper/drum pedal! I just received one of these pedals myself, and I'm looking forward to working with it. I think it's the best looper you can buy for under US$200!
hi how long does one recording loop last ie 3 min 5 mins 10 mins like if i recorded myself playing a tune on guitar that lasted 6 mins would it record it all or would it stop betore the 6 mins was up .
Thanks Derek, this is the only detailed instruction anywhere (including the NUX website) that I could find on converting WAV or MP3 backing track files to the 24 bit to enable them to work on the looper. One additional comment would be that I tried several times to convert and was unsuccessful until I went back and looked at your video showing the format converter and noticed that in addition to having selected 24 bit, you also had selected stereo, and I had left mine on mono which would not work. So in addition to selecting the 24 bit, you need to select stereo before converting.
I have this pedal, I didn't buy it for backing tracks but I am slowly warming to the idea, as a performer I always used to build the loop live but with this there are other possibilities, I'm just undecided as whether it's live music or not, I will play guitar and sing over Bass and Drum tracks just for a few numbers as I don't want the idea to overtake me, it really is knowing when to use backing tracks.
Ozzy Mandias hi Ozzy, I hear ya, but I guess at least you have the option, plus also it doesn’t necessarily have to be the whole backing track, could just be something you’ve recorded yourself I.e. drums and a string section, possibilities are there :)) cheers man
@@DerekPaulGuitar Hi, yes, that's what I'm doing, I'm recording harmonies but the temptation to use Backing Tracks is there and growing, I'm fine with it but it's just if someone comes up after and say's 'Hey man, that's cheatin', I don't think it is, I mean. if you play more complex songs like for instance Queen, they don't always stick to the verse/chorus structure and although I'm capable of laying the songs it would take an age and by the time I was ready the Audience would be out the door...
Definitely not cheating at all! Music isn’t a sport as they say, use whatever you can to entertain your audience, I don’t think they’ll question it as long as they enjoy what you do, I spent 10 years in a band where we used drum tracks with piano and synths because we didn’t have A drummer, no-one cared, they just loved what we did :)
Great tutorial, This Nu-X JTC Pedal is doing what the now Officially Discontinued Digitech JamMan Pedals should have done ! The software puts a Wav or any othe backing track file into a NuX file that can be stored in the pedal. That is exactly what the mid 2000 Multi Track boards did . You would record in a File type only associated with the unit, then it would convert it and you could import it to your computer . The NuX you have the file on your computerin Wav, convert it and export it to the pedal . Perfect The modern Software is the key . Great Tutorial, thanks for the info, DPG!
Thanks John! absolutely agree, i remember back in the day all those proprietary file formats that other systems couldn't use, as i said in the video i wish i had this back in the day when i ran drum tracks from a 3 1/2" floppy through a Korg X3, cheers man
One thing I didn't quite understand is how to record, for example, a second six-measure loop over a two-measure loop. When I try to play the second loop, if I play for more than two bars above the first loop, what I played above the first two bars of the first loop immediately replays in real time preventing me from continuing to play the part for the following bars . How can it be done? Does the pedal allow it?
I if you loop a two bar loop and try to play a further six bar loop on top it will play a 6 bar loop if that makes sense, doesn’t sound possible if I understand correctly
As a foot pedal unit surely it is designed to be operated while standing up via the two foot switches - one for switching backimg tracks up and the other for swithching tracks down?!! I dont want to be crouching every time I want to switch tracks.
Can I add a rhythm to an already recorded a loop? The nux core deluxe has this feature built in: It automatically detects the bpm and allows to add a synched rhythm. But in my experience the manual of the nux core deluxe looper don't reveal all of their great features. There are some hidden button combinations for changing setup. It would be great to hear if the JTC Pro has these ones as well.
do the backing tracks go onto the looper side or the drum side? for a number of reasons, i would quite love to be able to load custom beats and such into rhythm sections of these loopers.
Good morning Derek, you're the only one who talked about using this pedal in backing tracks mode, the question I wanted to ask you is this, the backing tracks are played in mono or stereo because for me they play in mono
hmmm, hope you did not stop the drum and the loop on the second round so we could hear if they really synch. Thats the problem starts on the second round and so forth...
Hi Derek.. thanks for the video. The video and the unit was exactly what I was after - basically for the backing track use rather than the looper. A question if you could assist? It is about moving from one backing track to the next. I bought a NUX NMP-2 footswitch which 'should' enable this but either I’m challenged (very possible :) or the unit is faulty but I can’t make it work as I need. Interested if you've had any experience with the footswitch and/or how you move to the next back in track when gigging as the only way I can currently do it is to turn the memory select knob by hand. Many thanks, Adrian
But in my opinion the activation with the pedal as for the Rolands is much better, the activation with the switches is also noisy for recordings I think you can hear the click.
Hi Derek, thanks for a very usefull video. You sold it to me 😉 I just got my brand new NUX a few days ago. Maybe a silly question, for I’m stil learning how it works, but can you slow down a backing track too? For learning new songs. And if so, how? Greetz from Dennis (Netherlands)
Hey Dennis, thanks for the kind words, you can’t slow a backing track down unfortunately, there’s probably a lot of software options to do that though and then import them, cheers and thanks from the beautiful Netherlands
Most other demo videos focus on the looper and drum features of the pedal. Your video is the only one I've seen that deals with loading and playing backing tracks. Thanks, Derek!
Hi Derek, good review as always. I would have liked to have seen more on the drum and looper side as this is the first review of the piece of kit that I have seen and I could well see it being of benefit to me when I'm away on business. BTW, what's the current cost of these things?. I followed your' link to Amazon but there was no price displayed.
Gareth Poole sorry I missed this Gareth, RUclips only tells me about new comments, I think it’s around $150, the looper is just a regular looper style pedal, the drums are ok, not the best but they will work absolutely fine :) cheers
I bought this product and was really liking it until I tried to do a rhythm of Little Wing to put in storage. First let me say I’ve used a Jamman basic looper for years and I’m quite proficient with it so I’m not a newby. The JTC is chopping off the beginning of the first line. I can go to the Jamman , do the same thing and it works. If anyone has any idea what’s going on let me know but otherwise it’s going back.
Happy New Year, Derek. You always seem to come up with timely items. A few weeks ago, I spent fifteen minutes on the phone with a rep from an online vendor trying to describe what I needed when it came to a 'drum machine' solution. He had no suggestions, yet here is a pedal with drums, backing track capability and a looper. Sometimes you wonder why they pay these guys, but to be fair, the only place I can find it is on Zzounds and they are sold out until the middle of January. Does the looper function as well as say, a Boss RC-1?
Hi Brad, a very happy new year to you too and hope you had a good holiday break, thanks for the comment as always :) yes it does function as well as the Boss, it operates in the same way (the Boss does have stereo inputs though) but the JTC has 6 hours loops time as opposed to the Boss which has 12 Minutes, in my opinion if you are in the market for a looper (and this has the auto start function as well, meaning it will only start looping once it hears a note or chord from the guitar) then this is amazing because for me the backing track feature is incredible, thats why i focused on that part of it, if you need any more info Brad then let me know.
Thanks for the video! I bought it and it is amazing! Could you please describe how you connected with your acoustic guitar? This is because I can not hear with mine
@@DerekPaulGuitar just another question. Is it possible to have stereo input through TRS cable? This is because I think this pedal should be last one on the signal chain and it should be the able to receive stereo effects, like stereo delay or chorus
So if you add backing tracks... are those the same slots allotted for recording loops? How many loops slots can you record? Also can you record over the backing tracks... as if it was a drum loop? Thanks
Same slots allocated for loops yes, you can record 256 loops and it backing tracks and yes you can record over the backing tracks with loops, hope that helps, cheers!
If you like having backing tracks available then the NUX, if you prefer to just use drums for looping then the Flamma, they are both great loopers and drum pedals, cheers!
One thing that was not mentioned is that for the Audio Format Converter, you have to choose Stereo (on top of 24 bit, 44100Hz), if it is MONO, the unit will not play it (The Dot next to the Memory Location # (001-256) in the display won't show and won't play. All the manual Pictures show that the Mixer Outpur (R-OUT) is Stereo, have you tried that? if so, when the unit is on Output Mode F3 and you have your Backing track going out from Mixer Output, it could be in Stereo, which would be awesome, while (L-OUT) is just for your guitar channel... @Derek, Have you tried that
Hi, i haven't tried it, i use it in a simple way, i'm purely mono guitar input and stereo backing track, have you got the unit, did you try it? cheers!
@@DerekPaulGuitar I just got the unit, I tried by Mono Guitar in, and Mono cables out of each (ROUT & LOUT), and I can see that if I connect both, ROUT has Only the Drums and LOUT has only the guitar. If I just connect to LOUT, both Drums/BackingTrack and Guitar come out in Mono. I haven't got a splitter (TRS to Dual TS) so I could see if the Drums (or Backing track) come out in Stereo. On NUX website, the animation for the Recording / OverDub signals show the Drums in Stereo. Which would be really cool. If is depicted correctly. So I wanted to know if you have tried since you've had it for a long while...
@@nenesaurus ah gotcha, no I never tried it, but it would be interesting to find out if it did work that way as I know other people would be interested and may have even asked the question, cheers!
Hey DP when you've got your backing tracks in the unit, if you've not got an FX loop can you send it to the aux input of the amp instead to avoid the lead sound colouring the backing track?
Hey Chip, I don’t think you can, I think it’s all or nothing, I.e. backing track and lead out of the same output (I leant the unit to my nephew early last year and haven’t seen it since lol)
This is very good review and I particularly come back to it again and again because I am contemplating buying one and using the one-shot function to load entire drum backing tracks I create in EZ Drummer. What I would do is create the entire drum track and then export it as a wav file, then convert it using the NUX file converter. It will be like having a full-time drummer to play along with. I do have one important question though and I'm hoping you can answer it. Is it possible to just send the output of the one-shot backing tracks to a separate amplifier like you can send the individual drum rhythym patterns? This is important because I would be able to keep the drums clean and also process them using things like a preamp, compressor and EQ to get the best possible sound. Cheers!
Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately it isn’t possible, be great if there was a firmware update to rectify it as so many people have asked for that feature, cheers!
@Derek Paul Guitar Damn, I just ordered it and then saw your reply. I hope there is a firmware update to fix this but as the product is 3 years old it seems unlikely. Ifi really want to do what I plan, I may have to just use the pedal to play back the backing tracks and then just play along with them through something other than the looper, perhaps through a second looper, though that's kind of clunky.
You can of course adjust the volume of the drums and play over them but not what you were after doing, as you say though maybe another cheap looper in the chain? Cheers
Michael Caz thanks Michael, the acoustic is an Ibanez Artwood AC340 (I did a video on it, Ibanez vs Martin :)) thanks for the comment and good luck with the research man!
@@DerekPaulGuitar so the backing track volume is considered a drum loop and not on the rhythm channel? I want to be able to control the volume of the backing track and my guitar separately!
Do you know if I could load the backing tracks using a 2018 iPad Pro? Nowadays lots of people are going purely mobile and if I can connect it the iPad and use online bit conversion software then it sounds like a no-brainer. Thanks for the demo. Really relaxed manner and I learned exactly what I was looking for. Subscribing now. Cheers. Bear.
Ol Grey Bear thanks Bear! That’s a good question, I would try it but I don’t have a iPad available or the cable but as long as the ipad recognised it then it work, thanks for the comments, the feedback really helps and thanks for subscribing, look forward to chatting in the comments, maybe reach out to NUX for some advice on the iPad ? Cheers
Hi Derek. I have a Digitec Jamman Stereo which I never used all these years and came out of the box only last week. I wish to do some loops and feed some backing tracks for performances. Can I do all that on the Jamman or should I buy this NUX Pedal?
@@DerekPaulGuitar Hi Derek, its me again (pain!) in my Digitec Jamman Stereo, I cannot loop more than one bar! How do I work around it to say do a 12 bar loop? Thanks....
@@antongoonetilleke2432 hey Anton, oh I’m not sure, had a quick Google and there seems to be some forums on it if you type ‘DigiTech jam man loop more than 1 bar’ hope it helps, cheers
I've loaded backing tracks on to the JTC but it's not working...the tracks show up on the puter, but they're not loading on the JTC. I'm sure tracks are correct format and I've even used the (NUX) converter..."What am I doing wrong?" Please help...
Me again. I've figured out what is happening. The Little Wing pattern I'm trying ends on a 2 count and the drum won't allow that. It has to complete the 4 count. It will record properly without the drums.
That’s a good question and as far as I can remember (my nephew has the pedal now) it doesn’t, it just records the loop from the guitar, the drums then can be switched on and off
@@DerekPaulGuitar Thank you for the quick response. No I don't believe it does. But it still looks like a really fun and creative pedal. One popped up at my local guitar shop, used, at a good price. I am going to check it out. Thanks again. Cheers!
Thanks Rick! If I understand correctly the first half of the song is just you on acoustic and your vocalist, then you kick in the backing track for the other half of the song? If so then absolutely! Just create your backing track to start half way through the song and load it into the unit, does that help? Cheers
Superb review. A crucial question (sorry if it's answered): When you extract your loop to the PC does it extract the drums too (as a "song"/track)? Or you get only your loop? Thank you Derek
@@DerekPaulGuitar Hi Derek! I put my WAV files to the NUX JTC on my PC. And the files are in the right direction (WAVE). Now, I see the files on my pc but I don’t see them in the looper itself. For instance the first slot of my looper has no (.) dot next to (001) but the second slot, which I directly recorded in to the looper itself and I see it as (002.) Any idea of why my extracted files are visible when I connect the nux looper to my pc and are invisible when it’s connected to the pc?
Where do you get these backing tracks? (No, I do not want to make them.) Is there a machine that 'has' pre-made backing tracks with a drum machine? Thanks.
@@DerekPaulGuitar Thanks Derek, what do you think of the Line 6 JM4? (I know that it's been out for a while but it also has 'built in' songs including bass lines.)
Hi, thanks for the comment, the build quality has been and is fantastic, nothing to moan about at all, i use it fairly regularly as a looper and it been great, stay well and cheers
@UCN_Dp-sBUZtZ-8A8tn7wQAQ Your wonderful tutorial made me buy this pedal. But whatever I tried I couldn't make my cover songs to play on NUX JTC Pro Looper. I made cover songs on logic X macbook. I directly save them as 24 bit WAVE file. Then I put that song on to NUX Format Converter app and convert them one more time as 24 bit 44100 hz mono . Then I put the song into Nux looper W001 or W002 folders. I can see that the song is copying in to the looper machine. But when I unplug the looper pedal from macbook I don't see a dot next to the first slot digit on on nux looper pedal. And play button starts to record instead of playing the song. When I plug the looper again to my macbook I can see the song at W001 folder. Basically it copies but NUX refuse to play it. Can you give me any advice about this problem?
I’m not sure to be honest as everything you’ve done seems correct! Perhaps reach out to NUX, they have a great customer support, hope you get it sorted, cheers
when you import a backing track from your computer, does the pedal detect the backing track's tempo? Also, can you still loop phrases over the backing track? For example, I want a 3-minute drum and bass backing track to play for the whole song uninterrupted. Could I still record/overdub/start/stop a guitar loop without stopping the back track?
Hi Paul, the pedal doesn't detect the tempo (it just plays at the imported tempo) and secondly you can't loop over it as it uses the same footswitch to start the backing tack (although of course you can play over the backing track or get a little cheap looper to achieve the same thing, lot's out there) thanks for the comment
Hi Derek, a bit late to the party, I got one of these for the backing track ability, I've converted MP3s to 24 bit, loaded into individual wave slots, each time causing the green light to flicker on the USB connected pedal, but when I disconnect there are no tracks stored. Am I missing something? NUX don't answer my emails. thanks Nigel
@@DerekPaulGuitar Hi Derek, thanks for answering, yes I used the NUX converter. So there aren't any missing steps; I wonder if I try a different usb cable it might work, or perhaps the pedal I have is faulty? Hopefully NUX might eventually answer my email. Otherwise I'll be tying two cymbals between my knees! Thanks again
@@DerekPaulGuitar Hi Derek, the answer was to convert the files to 24 bit AND STEREO! Why they don't put it in the manual I don't know. I eventually got a reply from NUX USA which told me the key. Do you want to buy two cymbals?
i cant get the backing tracks to work, ive put them through the converter and then put them in the individual folders inside the "wave" folder. But when i go to actually play the backing tracks i cant get them to start. if i press the loop pedal like you demonstrated in the video it just starts recording and nothing plays. if i press the rhythm pedal it just plays the metronome.
Hi Derek. Best video on this on RUclips! I bought this because of your video. I'm having trouble understanding something though. Hope you can help. Is there an editor type thing from Nux for this? I downloaded the 24 bit converter and converted my backing tracks but how do I download them into the pedal? I read the manual but sadly I just can't figure this part out. Any help would really be appreciated.
Hi rolandready thanks so much for the comments, when I did it I was using a Mac, I connected the looper using a compatible cable (I used the power cable from my JBL flip 4 and that worked fine) and the NUX showed up as a drive on my Mac, and then I navigated to the ‘WAVE’ folder where the 256 folders were and dragged backing track 1 into folder 1, backing track 2 into folder 2 etc, are you using windows to do it? Cheers dude
@@DerekPaulGuitar Thank you! I really appreciate that. On windows when I plug it in it shows as "F" drive but there is no folders. I'm wondering if something is wrong with this one. Again, thanks so much. Really appreciated.
@@DerekPaulGuitar Finally got it! Thanks for your help. LOVE that it does the backing tracks not so sure on the drums though. Still messing with it. Thanks again for your help.
rolandready superb! Did you get the drive to show up and get the backing tracks in? I love it for that, I hear you on the drums, could be better but maybe running them through a compressor should help give them a better sound :))
I've got a problem. I've seem to have lost the presets in the previous order when I copied backing tracks in folders 1 through 5. Now it plays strange shuffles.
Yes, you’d have to create those parts separately as separate loops though then switch between them, can’t remember if you can use the footswitch to do this though
how long will one continuise loop last , ie if i recorded a backing track into it and the track say lasted 6 mins 30 sec would be able to store the whole track in one slot ??
Hi David, you’ll have to make sure they are 24bit .wav files, NUX have a free converter on their website nuxefx.com to do this but of course the Roland backing tracks will need to be exported as .mp3 or .wav to get them into the NUX
Good demo. I just bought this unit and I'm trying to connect it to my Mac, which is running 10.15.7 Catalina. It doesn't recognise the unit. Nor can I run the software to update the unit's firmware, or use the audio converter software, as my Mac wont load either. Any clues?
Hi Derek, I want the backing track and guitar coming out of the same output on the jtc into mixing desk, and I want guitar to go thro nux mg 300 efx pedal and the backing track to be clean, is it possible and how could I do this please ?

Hi Derek great review, just got one today but can't connect to my windows pc . The firmware download from the website comes up as mac , do you have a link please .
Hi, the only link i have is through nuxefx.com or here www.nuxefx.com/jtc-pro.html but i use a Mac so not entirely sure if its for windows as it doesn't specify, other than that NUX have great after sales support, cheers!

It’s just the sound of the snare for me, but I’m a little fussy, it’s a top quality unit though, maybe watch another YT video on the drum section of the pedal to decide, cheers
@@DerekPaulGuitar cheers! I bought it. I will find out about the drums sound quality in few days. I think it should be ok, since we can separate the drums and the guitar output, and put the drums through some equalizer / filter / enhancer in the editing software. we can even entirely replace the drums later on.
@@DerekPaulGuitar after few days of using it (many hours a day), I think it's a solid looper. the first impression of listening to the drums was bad. I wanted to return it. then I downloaded NUX JTC Pro Firmware V1.4, and upgraded the pedal through USB (it took me 1 day to figure out not all USB Micro B cables transfer DATA !!!), and BOOM! they re-did the drums samples !!! I couldn't believe how big the change was. even directly plugged to Line6 combo guitar amp. then I put my return decision on hold and I started testing all the connections: 1. F3 stereo out : guitar L to Line 6, drums R to PA (Sony integrated music system) 2. F4 stereo out: both guitar + drums to L and R (just Line6 and drums EQ) 3. F4 stereo out: both guitar + drums to headphones and it sounds excellent. the drums are not only usable for the practice or jamming. I am actually using them now for recording my songs. I decided to keep it, I don't see much benefits of getting Boss RC-10R (6 hours of storage just like NUX PRO) or Boss RC-500 (13 hours of storage). yes Boss has that dual track advantage, which could be great to have. I mostly use the looper as a digital storage (in 1 session I can record as many takes as I want and then choose the best one), to practice the phrases / techniques / licks etc. I also use it to compose my songs, I can structure the song as: - intro -verse -chorus -verse -chorus -solo -outro I can record each part as a separate phrase / loop / memory slot, using different effects / sound settings, and I can perform the song, by sequencing the sub parts using NUX NMP-2 phrase switcher. then I can copy all the pieces to the Reaper on Ubuntu Studio, and fine tune the sound / timing / transitions between parts. so yeah sorry for the lengthy comment, but the conclusion is: NUX Drum and Looper PRO is a keeper, as it does everything I need to structure a song, practice, and to use it as digital recorder, prior to processing it in the DAW. I actually prefer that workflow: to record many takes to the looper / storage, and only then edit it in the software. PS For example I recorded the background riif loop many times, trying to perfect it, and then I put 2 takes (of the same phrase in the same tempo) as a stereo track in the software, and man! it sounds so good. you get those little imperfections of live performance, panning from left to right naturally (imagine 2 Iron Maiden guitars playing the same thing synchronously but slightly differently)
@@TigerCarpenter oh wow! Glad it worked out for you and I’m glad they redid the drums, the pedal is amazing apart from those, so now it’s spot on! Your comment is fantastic and will definitely help other people who are thinking of buying it, cheers!
I thought this was the one. Till I heard the Boss RC10-R. 32 floating bit sounds SO GOOD! Twice the price but the drums actually sound like real drums. Not atari meh whatever game boy low fi. Also you can add drum intros & fills. Loops sound pretty damn good as well. If they don't the fault aint with Boss! I would suggest the following. If like me you can send the drum & backing loops to a separate amp full range combo & keep your bass/ gutar rig free for just that. GET THE BOSS!. If your running a single combo. You won't be able to exploit the fidelity capability the Boss offers anyway. So it kinda matters less. Then the NUX offers @ least in my limited experience the best bang for buck I've found yet

@@DerekPaulGuitar Watch again and you'll see I punch the first beat. I contacted Nux and they confirmed you can't split the 4 count. Something to do with the drum fills working properly. Also if you record it without the drums it works perfectly.

Perfect
The modern Software is the key .
Hi Derek where do you get the backing tracks from? I play bass
Hi Rob, I think (as I remember) I got them fro RUclips using a downloader, it was a while ago though
As a foot pedal unit surely it is designed to be operated while standing up via the two foot switches - one for switching backimg tracks up and the other for swithching tracks down?!! I dont want to be crouching every time I want to switch tracks.
The backing track functionality isn’t a primary function of the unit, it’s something I discovered, but yes, it would be great to have it!
Hi, yes you can do that and switch the drums loop in and out when needed, I agree, I think they could highlight some great features on these :)
Will this work with Keyboards ? Digital Electric Piano...etc.... ?
Absolutely :) even has an out to a mixer, cheers
do the backing tracks go onto the looper side or the drum side? for a number of reasons, i would quite love to be able to load custom beats and such into rhythm sections of these loopers.
Good morning Derek, you're the only one who talked about using this pedal in backing tracks mode, the question I wanted to ask you is this, the backing tracks are played in mono or stereo because for me they play in mono
As I remember the backing tracks are just mono, I checked the manual and no option for drums L&R unfortunately
Ok, that's what I imagined, thanks for confirming this for me
No problem at all
hmmm, hope you did not stop the drum and the loop on the second round so we could hear if they really synch. Thats the problem starts on the second round and so forth...
I can confirm the drums loop perfectly :)
Hi Derek.. thanks for the video.
I donated the unit to my nephew to use about a year ago now so I’m not sure sorry! But thanks for watching!
@@DerekPaulGuitar thanks for the reponse
But in my opinion the activation with the pedal as for the Rolands is much better, the activation with the switches is also noisy for recordings I think you can hear the click.
How long can the 1st loop be ..is there like a 90 second...or a 10 mins...etc....any ideas people ..thanks
From FRance.
No pedal to do some fills in ??
No fills on this one
Would you like to have seen more on the drum and looper side of this pedal rather than the backing track feature? Cheers guys
Most other demo videos focus on the looper and drum features of the pedal. Your video is the only one I've seen that deals with loading and playing backing tracks. Thanks, Derek!
Sorry i missed your comment Fred, thank you, i appreciate that
@@DerekPaulGuitar No problem, Derek! Thanks again for a really helpful review.
Gareth Poole sorry I missed this Gareth, RUclips only tells me about new comments, I think it’s around $150, the looper is just a regular looper style pedal, the drums are ok, not the best but they will work absolutely fine :) cheers
onde encontro essas backing tracks? parabens pelo vídeo...
Hey DP do you make your own backing tracks or if not where do you recommend as a resource?
Hey Chip! I have made some on the past but I usually just grab them from RUclips and use a downloader, cheers!
Hope you get it sorted!
Thank you! I just plugged it into the acoustic preamp (KNA SG-1 in my case) and it just worked, I know that probably doesn’t help
@@DerekPaulGuitar thanks! Perhaps, the pedals needs a higher voltage signal
@@DerekPaulGuitar just another question. Is it possible to have stereo input through TRS cable? This is because I think this pedal should be last one on the signal chain and it should be the able to receive stereo effects, like stereo delay or chorus
The newer pedals have a TRS option but I don’t think this does, cheers!
@@DerekPaulGuitar really thanks!
You reviewed the Flamma FS21 as well. Which one would you recommend? Thanks.
@@nenesaurus ah gotcha, no I never tried it, but it would be interesting to find out if it did work that way as I know other people would be interested and may have even asked the question, cheers!

does the looper record the drums
Hey guys, hello everyone. which one ? why ?
Boss Loop RC-3 VS NUX Jtc Drum& Loop ?
Hey DP when you've got your backing tracks in the unit, if you've not got an FX loop can you send it to the aux input of the amp instead to avoid the lead sound colouring the backing track?
Hey Chip, I don’t think you can, I think it’s all or nothing, I.e. backing track and lead out of the same output (I leant the unit to my nephew early last year and haven’t seen it since lol)
@DerekPaulGuitar thnx for the update bud.
No worries dude!
Cheers
How do we get those backing track into the device?
hello derek, just a quick question,i cant seem to connect it to my pc.
Hey! Sorry to hear that NUX have great support if you reach out, cheers!
The output should be stereo but when i conmect it to my reciever therr is only sound on one channel?
Nice demo. Gorgeous Acoustic Guitar - what brand? I may purchase this? or the Boss RC3? or Digitech Trio? - doing my Research.
Michael Caz thanks Michael, the acoustic is an Ibanez Artwood AC340 (I did a video on it, Ibanez vs Martin :)) thanks for the comment and good luck with the research man!
This AND the Trio.
Hell yeah.

Do the Drumloop and the Looper have Automatic Quantization?
They don't, you'll have to play the loop in time with the drums, cheers
@@DerekPaulGuitar cheers Derek. I thought as much. No improvement on the rig I have now.
No worries Chris! Happy to help
Are the backing tracks you can load able to be controlled in volume? Is this done with the loop volume or rhythm volume ?
Yea that’s correct, thanks
@@DerekPaulGuitar so the backing track volume is considered a drum loop and not on the rhythm channel? I want to be able to control the volume of the backing track and my guitar separately!
Do you know if I could load the backing tracks using a 2018 iPad Pro? Yes a dynamic mic should work fine!
Does this pedal record the drum loop WITH the guitar loop in one of the 256 memory slots?

That’s a good question and as far as I can remember (my nephew has the pedal now) it doesn’t, it just records the loop from the guitar, the drums then can be switched on and off

Could you please email me easy to understand back tracks set up thanks
you scared me with the drum sound could have been better, I nearly bought it and now I'm hesitant again
it claims to be PRO, I was expecting the sound to be of the top quality
It’s just the sound of the snare for me, but I’m a little fussy, it’s a top quality unit though, maybe watch another YT video on the drum section of the pedal to decide, cheers
@@DerekPaulGuitar cheers!
I bought it.
I will find out about the drums sound quality in few days.
I think it should be ok, since we can separate the drums and the guitar output, and put the drums through some equalizer / filter / enhancer in the editing software.
we can even entirely replace the drums later on.
@@TigerCarpenter exactly, or compress the drums and eq them, which I did, let me know how you get on, cheers!
@@DerekPaulGuitar after few days of using it (many hours a day), I think it's a solid looper.
the first impression of listening to the drums was bad. I wanted to return it.
then I downloaded NUX JTC Pro Firmware V1.4, and upgraded the pedal through USB (it took me 1 day to figure out not all USB Micro B cables transfer DATA !!!),
and BOOM! they re-did the drums samples !!! I couldn't believe how big the change was. even directly plugged to Line6 combo guitar amp.
then I put my return decision on hold and I started testing all the connections:
1. F3 stereo out : guitar L to Line 6, drums R to PA (Sony integrated music system)
2. F4 stereo out: both guitar + drums to L and R (just Line6 and drums EQ)
3. F4 stereo out: both guitar + drums to headphones
and it sounds excellent. the drums are not only usable for the practice or jamming.
I also use it to compose my songs, I can structure the song as:
- intro
-verse
-chorus
-verse
-chorus
-solo
-outro
I can record each part as a separate phrase / loop / memory slot, using different effects / sound settings, and I can perform the song, by sequencing the sub parts using NUX NMP-2 phrase switcher.
then I can copy all the pieces to the Reaper on Ubuntu Studio, and fine tune the sound / timing / transitions between parts.
so yeah sorry for the lengthy comment, but the conclusion is: NUX Drum and Looper PRO is a keeper, as it does everything I need to structure a song, practice, and to use it as digital recorder, prior to processing it in the DAW. I actually prefer that workflow: to record many takes to the looper / storage, and only then edit it in the software.
PS
For example I recorded the background riif loop many times, trying to perfect it, and then I put 2 takes (of the same phrase in the same tempo) as a stereo track in the software, and man! it sounds so good. you get those little imperfections of live performance, panning from left to right naturally (imagine 2 Iron Maiden guitars playing the same thing synchronously but slightly differently)
16 bit??,, Jesus.... .
But… CD’s were 16 bit, nothing wrong with that, you wouldn’t hear the difference

Sorry to use your post for this but your video partially convinced me to buy this pedal.
I linked to a video I made of the problem I'm having. If you or anyone else can identify what I'm doing wrong then I will try to fix it, but otherwise I'm blaming the pedal.
As far as I can tell you have to start your guitar loop on beat 1 of the loop, I think you started on beat 3? Thanks
@@DerekPaulGuitar Watch again and you'll see I punch the first beat. I contacted Nux and they confirmed you can't split the 4 count. Something to do with the drum fills working properly. Also if you record it without the drums it works perfectly.
That would make sense though if I understand correctly, glad you got a reply from NUX!
Minimal review at best . Where’s the USB port ? I didn’t hear any sampled drum sounds you complained about . Poorly done sorry
No problem, the USB port is a micro USB at the back, I didn’t use too many of them, only at the beginning, apologies, I should have demonstrated them, and I kept it low in the mix, thanks for the feedback, cheers
Too scary.
Haha sorry, I should have put a warning on the video :)
Бас-гитары не хватает .
I don’t play bass :)
gee you left out what brand of underwear you have on
I’ll be sure to mention it next time 😉
From France.
Thanks for your video .
But i don't understand why NUX provides such a poor manual !!
Nothing about how to do the backing tracks .
These people are stupid or lazy ??
Maybe it just wasn’t important enough to them, they need me in their marketing team :)
Maybe. But as you said it Maybe the Only pedal that can do this feature !
Yes, they need you in their team😊
Timing of the solos are off
I bought it.
Nice man! Enjoy it
