LOL! I just watched you 'how to shoot in a small town' video, liked it, and tried a second video. Now you are in NYC!! Quite a contrast! Looks like you are getting into a groove, though. Best of luck, have fun, stay safe!
Do what you need to do and enjoy life (take pictures) as it happens. Great POV. The casual nature of the soundtrack makes you think to slow down, look around, and appreciate simple things life offers. Again, a great video to start the year.
Nice video man. As a brazilian who will maybe never visit thoses places, I enyoyed the POV experience that the GoPro brought. Raw New York, just like it is. Keep going dude!
Pro am tip yall. Shoot a 50mm. Find a nice spot with great architecture and nice light. Stand across the street. Meter. And just wait. You have the setting and lighting. You just need your actors. I usually just stand in the middle of the sidewalk. And stare up above where I want to shoot. I stand and wait. I usually only wait a minute or two. Then, voila, my subject comes walking along. I dont walk looking for people to shoot. I walk and look for the backdrop setting. Then just wait. Try it. Its really relaxing. And all my shots are always excellent by my standards. Which is the only standard I care about. Shoot film too if you can. It slows you down and you become conservative as each shot is a resource sonsumed. I shoot a roll a day of hp5 400 bw.
I just discovered your channel, and I really like your style. I've been doing street photography for over 20 years now. My two favorite places to shoot are Philly and New York. I did spend a few years in Istanbul. What an amazing city for street photography! I can't wait to go through your videos for new ideas. I really like the way you present street photography.
Agh thanks so much!! Philly is on my list to shoot in this year, and hopefully Istanbul one day as well! It looks incredible for photos. Thanks for watching and I hope you stick around 😌🙏
Great way to start the New Year. Love the video, never really have seen the city, it’s nice to see it via my phone less chaos! All kidding aside, I’m so glad you are so happy. Wishing you the best in this NewYear. Great things will come your way. 2024, a great year😊
Happy New Year!!! Like the new video process that doesn't put too much stress on you. I enjoy watching POV's as it's good to see how the images are created. Keep doing what you're doing and I wish you all the best for 2024. 🙂
Hello Jared, this is really inspirational and motivating stuff for me. I live in Scotland and was in NYC in September last year (again), I did quite a bit of landscape (skyline, etc.) photography but realised that has its limitations and that 'street' photography is what's needed to make the most of NYC. There's no shortage of pretenders in the so-called 'street' photography (I think we used to call it candid or social photography) out there at present but what you are doing is great. Well done! I'll be back in NYC in April 2024 and have just altered my photo kit to suit a similar style to yours. Thanks for the inspiration on Chinatown, the beers are on me !!
Hi there! Thanks for sharing this man, I had a similar experience to you. I started with landscape, using architecture and light and shadow and catching someone in the frame, which is still great and I do sometimes, but I wanted to start focusing more on the story of each person or the scene. Life is always changing, and street photography allows you the opportunity to capture something unique every time you shoot. Something I love about it that keeps me coming back 🙏🏻 thanks for watching and happy shooting!
Liked this video a lot Jared. I noticed it was a different style and really like it. The editing and music fit perfect and looks like you had been doing this type of film for a long time. Love to see more buddy! Cheers, Rob
Loved the video Jared! The B-roll was great, always helps sets the tone or scene in the video. Looking forward to your videos this year and hopefully we can shoot again when you visit Providence!
Thank you Justin!! I appreciate it! More broll is definitely something I'm gonna focus on. The next time I'm down I'd love to set up a session with everyone 🙏 it'll happen soon for sure!
This means a lot, thanks so much! And very exciting to hear that you’re just getting started, it’s an amazing journey. Beware, you may get addicted haha
Loved the video dude. A great look at New York. I'm just starting out on the Street photography Road so will use yourself for ideas if that's ok. Pete in UK
Thank you man!! Appreciate this. Agh that’s exciting, best of luck to you! Absolutely you can. Best piece of advice I can give is to just have fun with it. With street photography, it’s normal to go out for a walk and not come away with photos you like all the time. The process of not knowing when you’ll find your next favorite photo is one of the reasons that keeps me coming back for more. Shoot as much possible, and that’s how it’ll start to make more sense. Enjoy it!
I’m new to Film and my sister just gave me her Pentax K1000 and I’m excited to shoot my first roll. For this year, I would like to go out and actually film my POV like you and not get so nervous about being out in public with a camera 😂 I hope everything goes well and awesome content. I find it so satisfying just to see people live their lives and getting captured.
There ya go! That's a good goal! Trust me I still have my days as well where I feel weird filming in public, I still try to find spots that aren't crowded to talk 😂 Thanks so much for watching and good luck with the film! Super exciting
I just discovered your channel and love this POV for New York! What lens were you using? I'll visit as a tourist in May and have my Canon M50 with 22mm lens. I hope to capture some typical tourist shots, but also some street photography shots. Keep up the great work!
Agh thanks so much!! I was using a 24mm in this! I'm using a Canon T7i though which is a crop sensor, so that makes my lens about a 38mm. So depending on if the M50 is full frame or cropped, it will be similar to mine
It’s funny because it happens by accident sometimes with the way I shoot. Sometimes it feels messy, but I’m accepting it as part of my process. Definitely a fan of them though! Thanks so much and thanks for watching 🙏🏻 I hope the same for you as well
Thanks Andrew! So I haven’t personally but I do know a few photographers here who have had it happen and they had a nice conversation about it if they remember haha Crazy considering how many people are in this city
I enjoyed your video, New York and it's people are one of those iconic places to photograph 📸 Definity on my 'to do' list. I added your channel, hopefully you'll connect with another creator?
Thanks so much! Agh it absolutely is 🙏🏻 no shortage of life happening to be captured. Definitely would like to collaborate with more people as I go forward!
@@ДаниилКарпинский-д5с I edit my photos!! Very basic editing to adjust the exposure and contrast, I just love the natural look of the photos out of camera
Thanks so much!! So it depends on the day, but when I’m shooting run and gun like this I don’t like to have my shutter speed below 800 if I can, 640 the lowest. Since it was bright this day I could get away with it with having my aperture set from f8-f14, and my iso was 800 or 1600. Anytime I go into the shadows I drop my aperture to 5.6 and will usually up my iso to 1600, but it definitely depends on the lighting. The black and white was white the same way, just converted when editing
It’s a dslr!! I’m using the canon T7i, the autofocus is pretty impressive especially for an older camera. It definitely misses sometimes, but it hits more often than not
Another thing I was just thinking about is the fact that I’m shooting at higher apertures here since it was a bright day, it makes it easier for the camera to focus because the focus range is longer (more is in focus), if that makes sense!
Entertaining video, 3:57( if you like fashion you missed that guy), it seems you are a bit shy to facing people with the camera. Be brave, it will improve your photos. Keep pushing forward and making progress!
@@winslow_j nice thank you. I commented on another one of your videos. I also have a T7 i. I think about upgrading but watching your video makes me realize I just need to get out and take pictures! Keep up the good work

I appreciate this 😌🙏🏻 it’s a good reminder to live first and let the work (photos) follow. Thanks for the feedback and for watching!!
It made me realize that it's technically "taking photos" rather than "taking pictures". Have a great day 😅
Happy New Year Jared. Love the POV and your photos. It helps me to stay motivated watching your videos. Thanks!
