WOW! Absolutely the best versions of Cold As Stone and Sycamore Leaves I've ever heard!!! I've heard many. What a journey these two brilliant songs take you on! The mixing together was exceptional. I loved it. Mortens deep vocals are stunning and the musicality is simply dark and beautiful.

Se assemelha a um retorno suave depois de horas de sono, algo gradativo, quase imperceptível, porém denso. O solo e o vocal flui como a água do mar atingindo as rochas da encosta de uma praia, uma rebentação de fúria contida e a volta calma ao mar. Talvez não tenha muita relação, mas a canção Given to fly do Pearl Jam me causa a mesma impressão no espírito.
Então, 'Memorial Beach' faz 20 anos, agora em 2013. Para muitos brasileiros-amigos-fãs de A-ha, é um disco estranho e magnifíco ao mesmo tempo. Talvez, ele encante quando, em Cold as Stone, Pal, por volta dos 3min, tem uma viagem sonora, com um solo incrível de guitarra, que de tão bom não deveria nunca mais terminar, e Morten ao fundo grita, clama desesperado de tanta emoção palavras intraduzíveis...Ufa!! Isso é pra poucos mesmo.
Março de 2020 Brasil...quarentena do Corona Virus...vamos passar por isso tenho fé...ouvindo esse clássico que eu ainda adolecente nos anos 90 consegui uma fita cassete "tenho até hoje" e a música Cold Stone foi a que mais gostei...que som , Que Deus nos abençoe nesse periodo tão dificil e viva a música de qualidade, obrigado A-Ha
This is the best live version! Thank you for sharing! Sometimes feels like this version were performed by other people... I mean the voice and the guitar sound so deep and wild and souring and it's so magical and beautiful and with fortitude. I like all A-ha's performances but starting form 2000-es they became more... (how to say it correct on English?) noble and sophisticated. Such talanted Persons!
OMG!!! This is wonderful, fantastic! The photo's are amazing, at least 80% I have not seen before and I have thousands of photo's of Morten & a-ha. I love the live versions of both of these songs. They included Cold As Stone during there 2003-2004 conerts. I have a live version of it on video somewhere... the audio is great the visual not the best. I still say East of the Sun & Memorial Beach contained many of the best songs they ever recorded. Thank you so very, very much for sharing with us!
Cold as Stone is one of my favorite a-ha lyrics, I actually prefer dark a-ha, not necessarily rockier but darker like most of Cast in Steel album. I also love Sycamore Leaves and they are playing it in the Cast in Steel Tour, unfortunately they won't tour in North America so I won't see them :(
+dpchmdnn I prefer the darker side of a-ha as well. I was lucky enough to see them live in Luxembourg last night, it was awesome. And indeed they performed Sycamore Leaves.

Melhor fase do a-ha, auge da maturidade física e instrumental, morten fazia o que queria com a voz. MB muito subestimado, mas acho que a pausa que eles deram ajudou muito a matar o álbum .
Memorial beach is a kinda sad testimony of the rock band they could have developed into. Locust and rolling thunder are other dark a-ha favorites of mine. Too late now for a hard core concert entirely filled with rare stuff from a-ha?
+famstoren it was Pal who was trying to uncover darker side of a-ha in West of the Sun... and Memorial Beach. First two albums of Savoy were the continuation of those efforts. unfortunatelly producers did not like it
@@MrTasic Not exactly. Savoy was more like pretty American sound added to Paul songs with lack of what made 4th and 5th a-ha albums masterpieces. Listen again. what makes these songs so multidimensional and atmospheric. just feel all keyboards staff and Mortens deeper and darker tone of voice. he sounds like a dramatic tenor or even baritone during this era. it's very important. the chemistry....
