Thanks Meghnaad. In the 16th Lok Sabha, Congress MP Jasbir Singh Gill introduced a private member's bill in Lok Sabha for limiting the “wasteful expenditure" during weddings. The bill mentions limits to the number of guests to be invited, a limit on the amount to be spent on food, and a limit on the value of gifts that can be given to the newlyweds. It's strange that we don't even discuss or debate these kinds of legislations.
so many private bills have been introduced on this issue in the past 25 years. nothing has happened yet.
So many businesses and markets rely on these wedding sessions it will adversely impact them....

@@yogya27 Wedding is also an industry! It creates employment and boosts the economy as long as they spend in India and not go abroad for destination wedding! It helps artisans, caterers, decorators etc n people employed by them. It is better than politicians hoarding illegal money by buying properties in Dubai n London boosting their economy abroad! Money moving hands n reaching other people is always better than hoarding! Plus India is not a communist state like China where government can tell you how you should spend your money! India is a welfare state which also believes in capitalism!

Medusa is 100% right, in today's world this ridiculous amount of money can only be amassed off the back of unethical and immoral practices.
If it was illegal then they would spend buying properties in Dubai, London or spend it abroad and obviously wouldn’t display it in India! That basic common sense they would have 😅

They've destroyed a lot of public companies and small N medium businesses to expand their own businesses. Underpaying employees and denying them benefits and many other unethical practices. No one amounts that sort of money without denying a million others from what they deserve. So, I hope they're paying you enough for defending them on social media platforms.

All opposition states n party leaders cater to big business as it gives employment n investment. But they fool people by acting like socialist messiahs to make people think otherwise.

I have came across several numbers regarding cost of this wedding, and all of them mind boggling, last one was 600 million USD. I am like does this man has no shame, these are extreme levels of in sensitivity. But then I realize these people really dont care, they are showing the whole world and mostly in India that everyone is in our pocket. Forget about celebrities what should open everyones eyes are politicians of all parties present there. Rahul Gandhi seems to be the only one who had sense of not being part of this circus. During my time social work in rural Saharanpur - this phenomenon of a lavish wedding by taking extremely high interest debts from local soodkhor was all pervasive. Single women who were farm labours took 3-4 lakhs loan to get each daughter married. The everyday stress and frustration led to mental health concerns leading to suicides and more crimes.

I’m an admirer of Medusa’s sarcasm and work, but the way she casually mentions about why a wedding does not serve non veg does not set well, logically. There is no need to consume animals flesh and their products, while subjecting them to massive cruelty, harm and suffering, in today’s world. There are so many fallacies that are used to justify harming animals. Hopefully she and others read this and open their mindset.
