    My Mal went eveywhere with me.
    My rescue Dutchy does her 1-2 hour walk and thats it. She wont even go in the backyard with me to hang out. She LOVES cats and doesn't care about other dogs. Definitely different

    Hey what’s your usual day look like with yours? I adopted a guy that has unknown history but now I know he’s a Dutch mix and I need help adjusting him to life at home. He’s super loving but I can’t give him a working job so he’s going to need alternative jobs

      Well my day starts when my dutch wakes up, he licks me. If he was able to talk he would be saying: "Hey, I just woke up! I am alive! We have to do something!!! Come on, dont just lie in the bed!!!!!" Then I go to work (50% I work from home). Afternoon we go for off leash walk. And at 17:45 he is like "gimme food, gimme food!!!" and at 20:30 he is "turn off tv and lets go to bed".
      Alternative job? Heeling, running. Basicly anything but rules has to be VERY strict and he has to obey them.

    Sad thing is that these dogs are being looked at like they are bad ass police dog types.. Actually they are very much a herding dog and they are the most sensitive breed i have EVER worked with ( over 35 years ) .. If you do it right you get the best dog ever but be prepared for a dog that can read your mind.. i am not kidding.. They are f-ing spiritual!! They are amazing but deff. not for everyone.. They respond badly to harsh methods. They will not work FOR you but WITH you... I am totally hooked on the breed but i have had to change myself, my merhods and a lot of ideas i had about the breed and training. . They need 100% fair treatment and training.. You can really fu*k this breed up in onbe session.. Igt is like walking on a thin line So everything this guy talks about is 100% true.. Ble calm, confident, know what you do ..But also this dog can be depressed really easily iof there is disagreement in the home, owner has depression, etc.. These dogs actually has a very funny side to them and can be super goofy like a boxer.. they can prank you and are so much fun - so owner need to be a quite optimistic person because they will pick up on EVERYTHING!!! I know this sounds hars but a " strupid" person can not own a dog like this.. They are super inteligent and will suffer if the owner is not clear and level headed. If you are not able to do this but still want a dog like this better get a GSD .. Even a well bred Malinois can be a better choice. The mal is not so sensitive.. There is a saying - i do not remember the roght words but iir goes something liek this: A GSD does it when you tell it - A Mal does it before you tell it - but a Dutchie does it even before you THINK it.. That is 100% true.. So keep that in mind before you get a brindle tornado...

      I have also owned them for years, before most people even knew what the were. This is such incomplete information. FCI DS might be able to be pets for some folks, but KNVP type are NOT great pets if people don't understand them..... So many being euthanized because Unethical breeders sell them to people who are not equiped to handle them. Now another breed that became too populare, too fast, with people not understanding the breed....

    • @goymedhundDogtrainingBehavior
      @goymedhundDogtrainingBehavior Год назад +1

      @@chriscarlton9682 That is true.. I belive it is almost impossible to describe the breed in a video. Luckily in Norway we only have ONE breeder of short/normal coat and 2 of long coat. And they only have a litter every 3-4 years. You have to stand on a waiting list and a ton of people are not even abkle to make the first list ( they sort trough it 3 - 4 times to find the right buyers) .. I really love how strict my breeder is.. And that is how it should be.. but as you say - where there is money there is always some idiots capitalizing on it.. so sad :(

      OK, your comment actually ties in nicely with something my mother once said about her dog, a Dutch Shepherd back in the late 1960s when they were even more rare than they are today. But her dog, named Dorus, was scarily intelligent, and my mother always said that training him felt like HE was training HER! He was so intuitive that she swore he could read her mind.

      @@leonaessens4399 oh.. wow.. thank you so much for sharing this. You have no idea how greatful i am for this. It supports my experiences 100%.My Dutchie is from the " original" bloodlines..they might even be realated ? ! She can feel how i feel all the time so i have had to compose myself to not make her stressed.. She looks you straight in the eyes and everybody says she "reads their soul "- making it quite uncomfortable.and some of them claim that is dominance but she is actually the softest dog i have ever owned.. TO soft actually.. but that is her fine tuned spirit .. I love her so much

    They are NOT great family dogs, with maybe the exception of some FCI dogs from herding background. Even then they need a job, lots of exercise, and an active family. They are too much to handle for people who don't understand high drive/high energy dogs, and are not educated in the training of these types of dogs. So very many are euthanized because people can't handle them & unethical breeders don't screen buyers, or even care if these dogs are in appropriate homes. They are another breed becoming populare too fast, and without proper education of people who buy them.

      Stop trying to sound like some know-it-all. These dogs are great family pets. Sure, they're high energy but they also love to crash and chill with their owners.

    I would never recommend a Dutch Shepherd or Malinos to any normal family.
