Composer Louis Rugg takes us through the new LABS Foghorn library.
Louis breaks down his trailer music in this NEW video: • Composing a HORROR Sco...
From guttural low-end brass tones to otherworldly echoes created by caverns of rock, and even a mechanical kit created from the sounds of whirring machinery - LABS Foghorn blows ordinary instruments out of the water.
Originally built in 1905 to guide ships through dangerous fog, the Sumburgh Foghorn has since gained a reputation for its uniquely terrifying sound, leading to a prominent feature in Robert Eggers’ Academy Award-nominated film ‘The Lighthouse’.

Only one thing to add... Howdy dudie buccaroonies.
Another homerun from Spitfire. Proud to support their products!
Really cool to see you guys working with Venus Theory!
What an incredible instrument! The versatility, texture and overall vibe of this library is incredible and diverse.
Thank you LABS for continuing to give us so many amazing sounds for free!
I am so Intrigued on what's coming next, I am using more and more of labs instruments in my film scores
kudos @VenusTheory for making the additions to Foghorn, and hell, I can't believe this is free :)
Amazing sounds! And I love that there are Walkthroughs now for LABS instruments too! :D
I love all the LABS, and use pretty much nothing else when I write, and this is a honkingly good addition to the already epic suite. Thank you Spitfire Audio, yet again!
Excellent work LABS Team, Louis, and Cameron (VenusTheory)! Such a deep sample project with incredible sonics. Stoked to try it out!
A video of this being recorded would be neat
This is freaking beautiful. Thank you spitfire!!
This is really incredible - one of the best Labs yet imo (and a great demo from Louis)
Sounds amazing! I could see this working really well for a modern trailer, that needs som big hits and punchy brass.
I can say one thing: without these guys, i would not called myself a producer.
Thank you!!!
Brilliant. Probably the thing I’ve imagined most but never expected to have! The film was incredible and the book (which I listened to on audible) - “The Foghorn's Lament: The Disappearing Music of the Coast” by Jennifer Lucy Allan is a great read/listen for anyone interested in foghorns. I am so excited to have this library (and love the @venustheory additions from Cameron). Superb. Cheers. Lee
Completely new to this lark and somehow find that a foghorn has me dribbling more than orchestral string libraries. How the hell did that happen? Great work, and thank you once again, Labs.
Getting Paulstretch vibes with the higher pitched stuff. Way more fascinating than I initially thought. I could see this in a number of applications.
Sounds Great !!! Love this so much !! And it's perfect for the album i'm actually working on it ! Thank you so much Spitfire Audio ! 🤩
Might be the most interesting and versatile instrument from Labs
This is SO Cool! I love that this is a sample of a real Foghorn and the history behind it. Thank You Spitfire!
I cannot believe this stuff is free. Absolutely incredible job guys!
Rachmaninov 'The Isle of the Dead' springs to mind.
This is mental indeed ☺️🤯
Thank you for another awesome sound set. Foghorn will work so well in our music. Already it has the creative juices flowing. I love LABS monthly products, you guys never disappoint. Thank you Venus Theory for your awesome input into this library. Cameron, you have added some cool dark additions to a cool collection. Thanks.
That is awesome, thank you for another great library. Please consider doing some metal/rock instrument or library for LABS.
LABS - Dj-Dj-Djent Monster ft. Misha Presets

Good Luck guys...... Bring on the BASS! 💕

This will be perfect with my Toenail Rips samples!

That first hit of the Lightkeeper patch sounds straight out of a LORN track.

This is awesome! I follow VT...he did a freaking killer job!
Awesome walkthrough! By the way, what studio desk is that? Looks great!
Here’s a thing - I was watching part of Rogers Walters’ ‘Us +Them’ last night, a great live version of ‘Welcome to the Machine’, and I thought a track with some distinct engine noise would be cool, after nearly fifty years from the original …
serendipity!
@@LABS_ONLINE indeed! (And I forgot to say thank you for another great LABS library to add to your awesome collection. You guys are fantastic.)
This thing is beyond inspiring!.........I only got it a few days ago, and the ideas are pouring out! ☺

*HAAAAAAAAAARK!* 🌩
Hark Henson, hark!
Bellow, bid our father the sample king rise from the depths full foul in his fury!
Black UIs teeming with salt foam to smother this young producer with pungent slime, to CHOKE YE, engorging your organs til’ ye turn blue and bloated with bilge and brine and can scream no more -- only when he, crowned in MIDI notes with slitherin’ tentacle tail and steaming beard take up his fell be-carpal-tunneled arm, his high-end keyboard screeches banshee-like in the tempest and plunges right through yer eardrum, BURSTING YE -- a bulging bladder no more, but a blasted bloody film now and nothing for the synths and the souls of dead VSTs to peck and claw and feed upon only to be lapped up and swallowed by the infinite waters of the Dread Emperor himself! Forgotten to any DAW, to any time signature, forgotten to any god or devil, forgotten even to Kontakt, for any stuff for part of you, even any scantling of your soul is composer no more, but is now itself... a sample!
I’ll have what you’re having! 👍🏻😂
@@NgaTaeOfficial I'm having turpentine mixed with honey xP
How you got the recording so clean is beyond me!
We had some help from an awesome field recordist JJ Jamieson- a Shetland local who has lots of experience recording the Foghorn! He actually provided recordings of the horn and lighthouse for Robert Eggers’ movie ‘The Lighthouse’.
@@LABS_ONLINE Amazing!
Sounds crazy good!
Very Zimmer, very nice
Foghorn will meet Aperture soon
HI.
In that first patch - Sound the Alarm - which is the "original" Foghorn sound, the middle C?
Thanks
I can't believe this is free.
Let's go!
I can't get access to any of my LABS in Studio One? All of my paid apps are in my DAW, but I've gone thru all the troubleshooting & still nada. I guess I need to contact support, but I hate to bother them over freeware.
Ah, the Inception Apotheosis. Glad Hans Zimmer didn't copyright the BWAHM.
Nice!
jesus guys... thank you
Hello I can see you do multi outputs but I can't find the way to do the on Logic, any tutorial?
Please fix the bug. I need my old projects to load other patches
Nass-ent? I thought it was Nay-sent... Gorgeous sounds, though!
#musthave!!!
That's an instrument!
HAAAAAAAAAAAARK!
Nah, the sounds don ´t give me an illusion of a lighthouse, foghorn or such things….It reminds me more something from the Omnisphere 2….could be my fault anyway, as - frankly - I have never visited a lighthouse……and of course - for free…this could be an interesting offer for a lot of people….🙋🙂
Duro
❤️
I can hear a tripod.
The VT bits aren't my cup of tea, but the remainder was stunning
❤❤❤
Just when you thought it was safe to go outside...
