    What I enjoy about your stance on f4 is how you go about challenging your critics. I am an avid f3.5 shooter myself, and catch a bit of flak for using such “narrow” aperture lenses. Nonetheless, you’re videos are informative, transparent, educational, and valuable to the community. Please don’t stop shooting! Much love from Oregon, USA.

      Hey Anatoli! Thanks for the nice words! I agree, even when I started out I keep thinking the only good lenses are ones that are f1.8, f 2.8, f1.4 etc. So any f4 lens or slower is labeled as not great, mainly by people who are starting out. The experienced ones know that there is a time and place for all the lenses. I guess the point of the video is to use the lens that best suits your style, the job, or whatever it is you're trying to achieve. I this day and age there aren't really and bad lenses or cameras. Practicing and learning composition are much more important. I think it's cool that you use what you like even if you get flak for it. Appreciate you watching all the way from Oregon! and taking the time to leave a comment. I definitely want to go back and visit Oregon again one day.

    This lens is by far my most favorite on my A7CII. Before the lens i shot mostly with the baby g compact trio. Since then the zoom lens never left the cam. :)

      Hey Tonvati. . The baby G lenses look great. I love how small they are but yes. Switching lenses while out and about all the time can get annoying. Stoked this lens is working out for you. Thanks for leaving your insight!

    Yes changing lenses is truly a great hassle, hindering my creativty. Sony introduces great lens like 20-70mm. you are the most practical youtuber who shows how the lens works in real situation. Kudos to you. I am convinced now to get this lens as it covers ultra wide to standard telephoto. With my ZVE1 the F4 aperture will not be a serius issue as there is always light whenever i go places. thank you sir

      Hi Mraz. Thank you so much for the very very nice comment. I love going out into the real world to make videos. Even though it can be a big hassle sometimes. But comments like this are why I do it. Im glad it was helpful to you. The lens really gave me a lot of free wince before I was only using primes. It will be PERFECT for you ZVE1 especially with the high performance in low light!

      I have watched several of your videos about the lens. I have bought the lens and traded my Kit lens 28-60mm and 50mm prime. for now i just go with this zoom lens. The 20mm focal length is amazing and to be able to zoom all the way up to 70mm is truly a blessing in a single lens. i did not go for 24-105mm as it is heavy and 24mm is just a normal and boring focal length for me. Thank you again to you. May be in the future i will consider an 85mm prime lens or may be not. @@MichaelNgvyen

    The 20-70 is a great lens, but it is best used during the daytime. Combined with a fast prime, it makes a nice travel kit. But for one lens that does it all - day or night - I still prefer a 2.8.

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  9 месяцев назад

      I agree. Having a fast prime paired with the lens is great. But the reason why I wanted to make this video is to show that a f4 lens on a full frame camera can be used day or night and still get a good looking image. The advantage for me is they are much lighter and cheaper than the 2.8. If you shoot in really lowlight with minimal ambient lighting often the 2.8 options will always be a go to for many people. I appreciate your input and thoughts! Thanks for watching. Enjoy the rest the holidays. 🍻

    Another great video. Do you always film in Log or do you use other picture profiles? Can you recommend a picture profile besides log and s-cinetone as there are so many and a little overwhelming. Many thanks. Ross

      Thanks Ross! Honestly I use S-Cinetone PP11 for vlogs and some casual B Roll or scenes that naturally have great light. I think the profile looks good as is. I sometimes will add some contrast or a bit of saturation. I’ll use LOG for all anything I know that I will want to colour grade get the most from my scene. Hope that helps!

    To me too much is made about noise. Non-photographers will not notice if the shots are nice. It’s like any art form, other artists notice the imperfections more than the fans. I see this with music all the time. My friends as I play guitar and we will watch performances of bands and pick apart the guitar, and our non-musician friends are saying “wow, that guitar player is amazing”. Have fun and stop stressing over the details only experts will see, unless you are making your content for experts and not general human consumption.

    Wait until you find out the F/4 lens Olympus makes; 12-100mm f/4 constant... but equivalent to 24-200mm in full frame. It's sharper than the Sony 24-105mm f/4. Smaller, lighter and better IS as well.
