my top pick for his achievments is "somehow surviving like 3 seperate car backflips accross his career"

@@Luca33600 is a lie, according to Newey's book. Mark was given the updated front wing that race in practice and he hated it and reverted back to the old configuration. Seb tried that new wing and felt comfortable and hence ran it in the race. Then Mark played the media game and blamed the team for making him a no 2. I am surprised by F1 official channel promoting a false narrative which has been refuted by all the people in the know by now.

@@raceyrache8463 Yeah😂
Indeed
Such an underrated driver. So many people who only saw him at the end of his career don't realise some of the great drives he had at the start of his career. The guy qualified P2 with a Jaguar ffs 😂. Was unlucky to have not had a better car before Red Bull at the end of his career
Totally this. The trouble was he should have had that better car when he moved to Williams - but the move was a distaster. If he'd gone to Renault he'd have immediately entered a title fight at the age of 28. The move to Williams set his career back four years.
@@LukeVesty Same can be said for Nick Heidfeld. But he never ever got that chance at a top team like Webber.
@@chamindujanith6337 He did, he was at BMW Sauber for a while and he had nowhere near enough outright pace to win races. There's a reason Ron Dennis snubbed him for Raikkonen.

- Mark Webber, Lap 50 of the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
I agree
i died.
I almost fell off my couch when I realized who had done it 🤣
I was so emotionally invested in the 2010 season. It was my first season watching the sport. I don’t think I smiled for three days after the Korean GP that year
Same for me here
Yep, same
Tough day to be a Webber/ Red Bull fan.
I never gave up til Abu Dhabi, then I cried and cried. I know people bang on about Korea, but he'd lost points when Vettel hit him in Turkey, too.
Honestly, if webber would have been able to start an f1 car, he would be a world champion now.
Context missing?
@@dylanwells9769 A joke about how common it was to see Webber get bad starts in F1 races
@@Wizzkidwas exactly
his poor starts off the grid were very costly and it was always a pain to see him qualify in the top 5 only to drop 3 or 4 positions before the first corner
Yeah it was very frustrating. Definitely his biggest weakness. Many of his poor starts weren't his fault though.

The 2007 Japanese GP was looking like Webber's first win. He had pace on Hamilton before the safety car came out and closed the gap. Hamilton was playing some games behind the safety car, swerving and braking. This is what lead to Vettel crashing into the back of Webber. It took Webber another two years to grab his first victory.
Yep. He was definitely catching. From memory Hamilton may have had damage - did he have contact with Kubica?

A very underrated and undermined driver who I always admired! Always will be a brilliant driver and one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.
What is brilliant about him 😆😆 he is an average driver
Look at this clown above me and that clown "EL DRIVER" below in comments... You don't go to a championship final as a main title contender and neither do you win 4 titles by being an average driver... My heart sank that night he spun in Korea. Always felt like he never recovered from that moment and Abu Dhabi. On his day amazing, more importantly though always great to watch from race craft to jokes. Thank go he still on tv
This is for the Vettel haters who threw Webber’s achievements under the rug in order to diminish his greatness. He is one of the kind who has the determination of Nando and sometimes the raw speed of Vettel. He is a monster in his own right
Never beat Vettel even when they werent team-mates since 2008 teletubie what u talking about XD
People watching 2021 should know that , It's not a joke to enter as a main title contender in the final race. That too with 3 other contenders. Bottas was never able to do it , Perez might never be able to do it , but somehow these drivers are considered better
@@abhiverma9316 anyone who has some form of F1 knowledge knows Webber is better than Bottas or Perez though tbf
What makes Webber & Vettel different is both of them weren't ready to give an inch of benefit to the other 😅 .
A quality which we can't see in today's big teams who employees a second driver just to protect their main driver from the pack and crash into their championship rivals when needed .
@@ananthu8534 I mean Red Bull clearly favored Seb over Mark. You can see it by a lot of decisions the team took between 2010-2013
Radio messages from maiden f1 victories (and mostly championships) are giving me chills. Absolutely beautiful to hear, Webber's message isn't any different, a sigh of relief and an explosion of emotion when he crossed that line
It’s things like this that make me appreciate the sport. Showing the brilliance of its capable less celebrated drivers. A lot has to go right for a driver to win the chip and for mark he definitely had the skill to win one
Mark was underrated
The 2010 championship was between him and Alonso mostly until Vettel snatched it last race. No disrespect to Vettel but Webber deserved that championship
@@hishamhilal8332 RB got their strategy wrong that race... but who knew it would be so difficult to overtake there, given it was a brand new track at the time. With that massive straight, you'd think passing would have been fairly easy... but Webber ended up behind Petrov, Alonso covered him off (which many forget was because Webber was the championship leader going into that race, not Vettel) and the rest is history
@@hishamhilal8332 No he did not. Vettel was battling misfortune the entire year, hence why he wasn't leading till the final round.

That celebration from Nurburgring 2007 will always bring tears to my eyes. First Aussie winner since Alan Jones in 1981, and while he wasn't the outright best, he's a role model in my eyes.
This. Absolutely sums up the man and the never-say-die attitude he had to F1. He got me into the sport and this was the day I was waiting for!
Funny how they didn't include the part were his team make "bras d'honneur" to the FOM cameras. 🙂
It's funny how teams make cars as aerodynamic and producing as much grip as possible and yet Mark Webber seems to consistently be able to make them do backflips.
What an incredible driver he was! That race in Germany 2009 is the only race he would never forget. I wish Mark Webber was an F1 champion, but he came close of doing that in 2010. Plus, he was not bad for a #2 driver.

One of my all time favourites by far, 2010 should've been his championship.
He had it in his own hands ... and threw it in the wall.
not really , id argue vettel and alonso deserved it more . Alonso fought in the 2nd to 3rd quickest car whereas vettel although very inconsistent that year he lost 3 wins due to reliability - austrailia , bahrain and korea whereas mark lost 2 goodresults due to him just binning it

Tbh even most redbull fans at the time never believed in Vettel becoming the champion 😅 . Yes there was a probability for Sebastian and Lewis .
But everyone thought Alonso will be the winner , or Webber .
Webber didn't produced his best in qualifying when it needed the most .
Not really, Alonso and Vettel deserved it more. They were just on another level that year.
The pivotal moment was Spa. Webber quicker by 1 sec in mixed conditions then anybody else ... and then Horner says : "We need to change the setup approach for the car" ... that was it.

Always loved his first race & the sweet moment of the organisers letting Mark & Minardi on the podium after the main ceremony - it's something you probably would never see in the modern day but was just a beautiful moment I'm glad I got to see

That battle with Vettel in Malaysia in 2013 was awesome
Yeah. Some battle. Webber had his engine turned down and was told his team mate wouldn't attack. This allowed Vettel to close the gap and then jump Webber without warning. Disgraceful from Vettel.

Whenever the boys mention Mark Webber I hear "not bad for a number 2 driver" always! 😂
I have always liked Webber. I always thought he did such an excellent job in jaguar and made me fall in love with F1. His win in Germany was outstanding and I must have watched that like 20 times. In Spain as well he dominated that race and blew them all away. He was always fast at Monaco and probs should have won at Belgium as he really had that track dialled in but unfortunately it never came.
And Hungary 2010 deserved to be in the top 10 :)
