Parnell is an absolute genius! Can he be my friend too?!
Heh loved it when she said so we will have this next week
You don't get what you don't ask for, right? :D
The mog outside the window looks beautiful
The misses and I are building for a trans-Africa tour in 2023. Her NUMBER 1 requirement is that the truck doesn't look like a car boot sale (yard sale for Americans ;-) every time she wants to make something to eat. She HATES having to completely unload the truck just make a sandwich. Worse, you then have to pack it all back up. Other than dust issues, your solution looks pretty good!
That's so awesome!!!! Can Parnell make 2 🤣
3?
The jury is still out on this one. Looks like a lot to bend, break, or go wrong with it from bouncing around on trails. Can't wait to see the finished product and to be proved wrong!
maybe small struts could be added to assist in the opening and closing of the kitchen.
CAD - Cardboard Aided Design
I'm sure it's way too late for this comment...for myself and a bunch of other people we camp with, we have lovely kitchens in our camper trailers here in Aus, and none of us use the sink...we use the depth, but we find it far more convenient to place in a small collapsible silicone sink. It allows for extra bench space when not in use, and the dishwater can be thrown out well away from camp - much less stinky and doesn't make a wet area or require an extra bucket underneath...save yourself the $$ on the flashy sink.
Protoype looks amazing so the final is going to be freaking awesome. Can't wait to see it.
This looks great! Only observation would be how dirty/dusty this will get after a day on trail, so it will have to wiped down completely before use, as well as needing to be dust-proof for anything stored inside. It is for this reason that we removed even our drop-tray that was attached to the tire carrier because it just go too filthy to use.
The design concept totally rocks though!
I would just add a faucet and use one of those rectangular pop out silicon basins with a drain on the bottom inserted into a cutout. It would be a lot deeper and fold closed when not deployed. But still a very cool setup.
easier to imagine building, rather then all the inter-sliding drawers that have been more commonly used before!
Really like this idea!!
Good luck brother. The user's final approval will tell!
always enjoy watching this guy!!! full of adventure and great spirit!
"Just curious… how do you put a bolt through a water can?" "Your water can has a hole in the middle of it." "OH, does it?" Doubting Thomas! LOL
Man, add a piano hinge that folds over sink and opens towards back could give you more prep area or a table
I look forward to seeing the first edition!
very very clever........( follow up, deployable inflating tent ? (Sierra Nevada Space Habitat), and then....portable collapsible fast beer brewery, converting water in air to beer???....love ja...
That is an awesome setup, I look forward to seeing it once manufactured
Can’t wait to see how this turns out. Looks very promising
Great! Completed project next week!
This is an awesome design can't wait to see the final product!1
What a great design! Can’t wait to see the final product.
Gas lifts like on the hatch also come in a version that “pulls” instead of extending. You could use that between the first extension (sink section) and the pantry. This will help support when open AND it will help close the folded section. Hope that makes sense.
Sorry I'm 24 minutes late. But I brought popcorn.
Did you bring enough to share?
@@thomascalton3067 errrr ummmmm uhhhhh yeah... Of course....
Hahaha!
I need Parnell to visit Reno!!
So I really love this, it's so ingenious. I do have one suggestion: Make some sort of water tight cover for it sooner than later. One mud puddle and your kitchen is filthy.
It will have a water resistant cover.
@@parnellpollioni love it! Great job man!
Looking good!
I love this!
I had never thought of putting the kitchen outside the vehicle 😳 this idea is a game changer.
I hope you don’t mine me using the idea...
I’ll build mine out of marine grade plywood and make just a few changes 😎
this just sparked some ideas. so awesome!
lookin kinda sheepish when she mentioned "No backing into trees, right?" :-)
She knows me
Hahaha!
Love the concept. Hope to see what solution you come up with for a wind screen. As for the popcorn, found a nice supply of extra virgin olive oil that is butter flavored. The taste is awesome.
Brilliant idea!!
I like the concept. IMO, I'm trying to get away from the propane singles and move to a 5Lb refillable. The other thing that comes to mind, which I've seen you with a pullout version, is the hinged cutting/prep surface. I like the fact that you have it on the rack, I haven't seen that done with much detail.
Yes on the singles! We are going in the 5lb refillable direction. More on that to come!
this is sooo awesome man!!
Hmmmm....i think I need to reevaluate my kitch plan!
Dang that's amazing!
Next week? No problem. What color do you want? 😁
That is awesome. I would totally buy one, if the price point was right.
Yay!
Very nice great job
Where will your auxiliary fuel go if you plan on keeping that?
Maybe an extended range tank, or rotopacks
I think Parnell needs to get this design productionized and quick before someone else beats him to it, looks like a very fits all design
Would utilizing one of those deeper, collapsible silicone sinks (& flipping sink and stove configuration) be more appropriate?
What if you switched the sink and stoves? You could (potentially) leave the propane bottle screwed into the stove and that last flip out section would be lighter and easier to flip out.
What type of hinges are you using?
Could you not make the bolt double as a support leg for the items folded out
That’s awesome! Can’t wait to see the finished product. So where are you moving your gas carrying capabilities to?
Not quite sure. May get a extended range tank!
That looks awesome. What would it be made of? It has to be very tolerant of harsh conditions outside the truck so is wood even an option? Aluminum sheet?
Parnell was saying we’d start with solid aluminum, but we are definitely in the design phase in terms of construction.
Can’t wait to see this thing. Hey I’ve got a really hard question. If you HAD to get rid of the 80 series, what would be its “replacement”?
Right now LMTV or Unimog!
@@OverlandBound nice! It put a lump in my throat even asking that question but I was just wondering. Great content and a great rig. 👍👍
Hahaha! Thanks!
Raptor, right? 😂😂
have you considered the uneven ground you will be on ( even with levelling ramps) that far out from the vehicle the work surface could be way to high or way too low. that's the problem with most pull out drawers that are long.
GREAT idea. but so many flaws. both the sink and gas top you chose will break in your first outing. The folding faucet leaks as it is (winnie Revel used to use it) and the big RV manufacturers are going back to regular sink. (maybe dometic is paying for this?). the stove top is too heavy. sealing this will be next to impossible. My suggestion: use collapsible plastic sink, and regular portable stove. Reinventing the wheel is hard work 🙂
one more thought... why is it you dont have a cover for your existing water/tire? ... I would say the same reason could also apply for the new kitchen setup. Dust and food don't go together... and dust will win every battle 🙂
How do I get in touch with Parnell - I’d like to design a similar kitchen fold out on the outside of my travel trailer
www.pollioni.com/
Design question, can you Mount the sink and cooktop sideways and set as far apart as possible? That way they can each be operated from either side and you maximize the counter space in between. Does that make sense?
It does make sense! Tolerances are pretty tight. Stove you can use from both sides. Sink has a lid, making it hard. Because the kitchen turns 90 degrees to fasten to bumper, the deeper the counter (to accommodate turning sink/stove, the farther out it will be from the back of truck. This will make the departure angle worse. It’s a trade off.
So where does the fuel and water you replaced go?
Have you looked at Drifta from Australia? Also an inverter cooktop?
I’ll check it out!
Take my Money....

how are you going to be able to open the rear hatch and have the kitchen also go perpendicular to the tailgate?
It swings out and away from the hatch. You can see where it swings at beginning of vid when I show the current setup
