I actually do not find those rings pretty. They do not look elegant enough. Heck, the stones weren't even cut.
Also, yeah, it doesn't make sense that Galadriel wouldn't tell them, she has been hunting him, and was one of the few in the lore that saw right through his lies. Making her one of several that fell for them cheapens her character, power, and clear-sightedness.
Just like Sauron, it looks pretty, but when you start digging, it all falls apart.

For how Celebrimbor is fooled: early in the trailer, we see Sauron as Halbrand entering into a city. Then in another shot, it looks like Halbrand is in a room with Celebrimbor. I'm guessing he returns to Eregion, and admits to Celebrimbor that he was lying about his identity. He'll explain that's why Galadriel doesn't trust him. His true identity is Annatar, and he wanted to make sure Celebrimbor was trustworthy before he shared his knowledge with him. So Celebrimbor will know that he's the same person as Halbrand, but he won't know that he's Sauron because Galadriel kept that to herself.

Such as when she appeared in The Hobbit which made so much sense. Cate always does wonderfully and her background in historical theatre and her understanding of things helped greatly as Galadriel(Artanis). Helps that she loved that character. Adored her. The Haladriel answer is definitely a cheeky reply to a question from a fan. You gotta remember the context: actors/writers NEVER shut down fan theories at these events bc the theorists, especially shippers, are the *most* engaged fans. Shutting down a fan theory before a season is a self-own bc it kills hype.

about the Halbrand/Anatar switch. You see in the trailer, Halbrand with Celibrimbor and then it cuts to Anatar coming out of the furnace. So I dont think Sauron is trying to make Celebrimbor think hes someone else, but rather that Halbrand was a disguise and that Anatar is his "true" form.

@@Sif3r All 20 rings were meant to go to elves ( lead to 300-500years of his infiltration & deception down the drain.) but Mairon of the Maiar(primordial angelic beings; as they are sort of beyond angels) disguised as a high elf named Annatar when he came to the elves pretending to be an emissary from Valinor on behalf of the Valar so it makes sense how alluring the ring is and how strong it’s pull on people is. (A bit too instant in the movies though) Galadriel soon saw right through him and especially when after speaking with him regarding not remembering him when in Valinor long ago where she learned from all the Valar thanks to being dominantly Vanyar/Teleri side over her Noldorin side where she gleaned from that encounter that she did not study under Aulë the Vala with any elf named Annatar ! But later named Sauron by the elves meaning deceiver! After all of this, The three elven rings were made in secret without Saurons touch upon them thanks to Celebrimbor! Remember Gandalf before he became Gandalf was the same species of entity Sauron used to be!! Wow hey?
The Rings in this case, would have lost their powers eventually due to the lack of the One Ring and possibly because they were designed to defeat evil, & evil in the form of Sauron had been defeated twice already in the past.
The Three Elven Rings served their purpose for a long time. Two out of three of them had several different bearers Unlike the other Rings, the main purpose of the Three is to "heal and preserve", as when Galadriel used Nenya to preserve her realm of Lothlórien over long periods. The Elves made the Three Rings to try to halt the passage of time, or as Tolkien had Elrond say, "to preserve all things unstained". I can expand upon this based on any further statements & questions you have for me as a reply to this comment ! ❤
There is problem here with the Rings, the Three were supposed to be never touched by Sauron and that's why they were not corrupting…Sauron had not taken part in their making which made the Three more 'pure' unsullied by his dark power, unlike the Nine and Seven Rings! But Sauron in the show touched the very material they were made of!!! So technically he could have tainted them and corrupted!
Even appendices of Lot tell us the order of making the rings, so they didn't even need the righs to more detailed writings in UT or Silmarillion:
      1200
Sauron endeavours to seduce the Eldar. Gil-galad refuses to treat with him; but the smiths of Eregion are won over. The Númenoreans begin to make permanent havens.
      c. 1500
      The Elven-smiths instructed by
Sauron reach the height of their skill.
They begin the forging of the Rings of Power.
      c. 1590
The Three Rings are completed in Eregion.
      c. 1600
Sauron forges the One Ring in
Orodruin. He completes the Barad-dûr. Celebrimbor perceives the designs of Sauron.
      1693
War of the Elves & Sauron begins.
      The Three Rings are hidden."
'Did you not hear me, Gloin?' said Elrond. 'The Three were not made by Sauron, nor did he ever touch them.
But of them it is not permitted to speak. So much only in this hour of doubt I may now say. They are not idle. But they were not made as weapons of war or conquest: that is not their power. Those who made them did not desire strength or domination or hoarded wealth, but understanding, making, and healing, to preserve all things unstained.
These things the Elves of Middle-earth have in some measure gained, though with sorrow. But all that has been wrought by those who wield the Three will turn to their undoing, and their minds and hearts will become revealed to Sauron, if he regains the One."
      -
The 3 Elven Rings are not susceptible to “The One Ring” in any direct way.. They’re only tied by fate to lose their power if Sauron is defeated completely & absolutely. As they were made by the elves and as always they make things for a purpose and pour their literal spirit into things they create. So if Sauron is defeated then the three rings power will fade and basically become almost useless or diminished versions of their original design since by this era magic has bled from the world by a huge degree thanks to Morgoth’s poisoning the world itself with his very essence that he poured into it. Called The Long Defeat By The Elves and The Men Of The West.

    • @Sif3r
      @Sif3r 2 месяца назад +1

@Makkaru112 the elven rings were indeed forged by Celebrimbor by alone using knowledge gained from Sauron (like in the show). The very technique itself innately allowed the ability for them to be corrupted (hence the reason they take them off and hide them when they sense the one ring) and without the one (both it and Sauron), the power of said rings would fade. Which coincidentally is exactly what happens and why the elves leave the shores of middle earth.

Obviously since it's all written by the script writers...they don't have any access to any of the lines written by Tolkien..so no speech of Annatar to the elven-smiths:
“Alas, for the weakness of the great! For a mighty king is Gil-galad, and wise in all lore is Master Elrond, and yet they will not aid me in my labours. Can it be that they do not desire to see other lands become as blissful as their own? But wherefore should Middle-earth remain for ever desolate and dark, whereas the Elves could make it as fair as Eressëa, nay even as Valinor? And since you have not returned thither, as you might, I perceive that you love this Middle-earth, as do I. Is it not then our task to labour together for its enrichment, and for the raising of all the Elven-kindreds that wander here untaught to the height of that power and knowledge which those have who are beyond the Sea?”
They can't use that one :)...neither can they use the most written dialogue of the actual narrative set in Second Age, Aldarion and Erendis story etc. so yeah they are trash at writing dialogue in Tolkien's world...these script writers and showrunners are talentless hacks!!!! Ironically the only spoken line in the Second Age events that they do technically have, Amazon has rights to Lotr appendices after all...in Lotr appendix A we have Sauron of all people speaking..to king Ar-Pharazon in the final time when the master plan of bringing about the Numenorean's destruction is at hand:
"Then Ar-Pharazôn in the folly of his pride carried him back as a prisoner to Nْmenor. It was not long before he had bewitched the King and was master of his counsel; and soon he had
tamed the hearts of all the Nْmenoreans, except the remnant of the Faithful, back towards the darkness. And Sauron lied to the King, declaring that everlasting life would be his who
possessed the Undying Lands, and that the Ban was imposed only to prevent the Kings of Men from surpassing the Valar. 'But great Kings take what is their right,' he said.
At length Ar-Pharazôn listened to this counsel, for he felt the waning of his days and was besotted by the fear of Death."
So the only line is "But great Kings take what is their right". Interestingly enough considering how many canon characters are kings and rulers, this could have served some thematic purpose...if the writers were smarter!

All Amazon needed to do was follow this outline - All 20 rings were meant to go to elves, lead to 300-500years of his infiltration & deception down the drain.) but Mairon of the Maiar(primordial angelic beings in simple terms as they are sort of beyond angels) disguised as a high elf named Annatar when he came to the elves pretending to be an emissary from Valinor on behalf of the Valar so it makes sense how alluring the ring is and how strong it’s pull on people is.

When comparing the differences between LOTR books and the movies and then the Akallabêth vs ROP it’s like this. If the books are a blueberry then the movies are a Saskatoon berry, the Akallabeth is an orange and ROP is a rock. You cannot compare how different one is to the other and I’m tired of people trying to use this as an excuse to justify the changes in the show. One is unrecognizable and the other still follows the general plot. Also while I’m at it this idea of “oh well it’s not explicitly stated by the author so therefore we can do whatever we want” is the dumbest talking point I have ever heard. The problem is Amazon is reshaping
Tolkien into an image that they want.
They changed characters, they changed the story, they changed the message, they infected it with their modern views and values, they changed most of it, if not all the parts that make middle earth what Tolkien wrote and they put their own spin on it, and at first glance, again it might look like what we loved but instead of the sour cream it's tofu and oat milk, it's Halbrand and Aerondir (made up characters ontop of the fact they stole a name from a character form the books with Aerondir which is also a travesty ru in itself because that certainly wasn’t him either.), and instead of Elrond, the military leader, we get Elrond a manipulative politician architect, and we know that he was a military leader in middle earth, and was a skillful warrior in battle and had commanded various Elven armies, including the Last Alliance with Gil Galad.
And when we notice the changes that they (Amazon) put into it, they call the rest of us (fans) the worst possible things that you can imagine. If you remember their showrunners ( Paine and MacKay) from season 1 called the fans - "patently evil", you can google that article if you want. Amazon and its showrunners are the ones that think Tolkien wasn't good enough for them. They are changing Tolkien, not adding, but changing. They are changing his characters, his story, his works. So I am not that surprised the showrunners said that they are “creating the story that Tolkien never wrote”, because for them Tolkien is not good enough.
I myself enjoy Tolkien for what he wrote , for the world he created, for the languages he invented.
Lord of the Rings isn't about anything but itself, it has no allegorical intention ( Tolkien dislke allegory), general, particular or topical, moral religous or political, because its exactly what Tolkien wrote in a letter to Houghton Mifflin in 1955, he said that exactly:
"It is not 'about' anything but itself.
Certainly it has no allegorical intentions, general, particular, or topical, moral, religious, or political."
what he's saying is that Middle Earth is as you see it, as he wrote it.
He's saying that you need to accept it for what he wrote it as, and stop injecting your own political ideologies into it and enjoy it for what it is as he wrote it.

Remember how Tolkien relays that Sauron deceived the Elves through his fair appearance. They even believed him to be an emissary of the Valar. What we may be seeing here is Sauron working this deception on the incredulous Elves who at first don't know whether to trust him.

People love the connection between wizards and hobbits from the Lord of the Rings, so I assume that’s why they went this direction. In the same way, people also associate the grey robes etc with Gandalf/wizards. That being said the show runners neither confirmed or denied if the wizard is Gandalf or Saruman or any of the theories people have posed. @RoseBaggins I think a few months in the movies is what i thought as a kid, till my dad said it was 13 ywlears in the books or aomething like that. No it isn't 200 years definitely exacerbates the problem. But I can see the average film goer not wanting to see 200 years. Plus humans could die have to have more becomes a lot of characters that probably will confuse people.

    • @RoseBaggins
      @RoseBaggins 2 месяца назад +2

@@PistonDrivenGun problem is 13 years is easier to cut down to two, whereas 200 ... a lot more can happen in 200 than 13, which is why the condensing of the 2nd age makes no sense. If they wanted to focus on the humans like Isildur, than have the majority of the show take place at the end of the second age with flashbacks to show us the making of the Rings and Sauron's deception. Elendil is Miriel's descendant, heir to the throne of Numenor, not the captain of her guard. Galadriel and Celeborn have created their own country at this time and have an army of their own to command, and a daughter who will marry Elrond. It's almost like condensing our own history and having Moses meeting Cleopatra.

@RoseBaggins I should clarify I don't think they should try condensing the 200 years and agree with you about how they should have written this show if they wanted the Faithful during the fall of Numenor. Galadriel never shares her experience with Sauron until the scene in this trailer where Gil-Galad demands her to explain him. But they are far away from Eregion where meanwhile Sauron shows up as Annatar and gives poor old Celebrimbor some story and coerces his collaboration, just like in the books. I expect this to stick much closer to the source material and based on this trailer I'm very encouraged they will do so.
I think it's premature to nitpick this trailer without context of how they manage the scenes.
