Great video as always! A couple of notes. If your caraLINK does start to fray please email or call us. We will get it replaced. We have had a few that have done it. We identified the cause and have made adjustments.
Hey Casey - I'm trying to get my head around when to use MRS and when to use SRS - its been 40 years (1983) since I last worked as a 'Tree Surgeon' Boy has the gear and techniques changed since I climbed with a linesman harness on 3 strand nylon rope . So my ears prick up when someone like you discusses mixing it up and blending the both of best worlds which seems like a balanced view point. I'd love to see a demo of where you switch between the 2 techniques and why. Talking of balance, I get the sense that MRS might be better working a tree where there is a lot of limb walking on a steep angle from the tie in point as it allows you to stand more easily without losing your balance compared to SRS. I've seen the approach to coming back in on SRS demonstrated by Jared Abrojena of Academy-Trained on a Strider Trees video. It looks awkward having to keep leaning back on the SRS rope and taking up the slack, not to mention energy sapping. And adding a mechanical advantage set up to help return seems time consuming and cumbersome. ruclips.net/video/zIyhp2Qufvs/видео.html Still, there seems to be a lot of folk keen on adding MA to SRS in various configurations. But I do wonder if its more about showing it can be done rather than suggesting its a preferred approach. Re MA systems - the trick seems to be to put on the MA gear before going out on the limb walk rather than out on the end of limb to avoid having to tend the system, not to mention balance whilst fitting gear. Some systems are remotely retrievable and others, whilst not retrievable, can be tended if attached at the end of a limb. Abdon and Cody from Bartlett Arborist Supply show a series of retrievable mechanical advantage techiques with a range of attachments. ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=M.A.+on+Limb+walks+Ep.1 uses a DMM Ring and an extra carabiner - retrievable - tendable but not readily ruclips.net/video/AHqM2lKJjZo/видео.html uses a Munter hitch " " " " " " " " " " " ruclips.net/video/8e90FjMTAjI/видео.html using Roll-n-lock - not retrievable but readily tendable from end of limb attachment ruclips.net/video/7fmO7J4_7Lc/видео.html using a prusik (like Jared Abrojena's ) - not retrievalbe but readily tendable from end of limb attachment And SCAM is possibly the simplist and quickest retrievable MA system by the FreeFallinTrees guy although once again its not something you can put on at the end of a limb and tend ruclips.net/video/55RucZtObSU/видео.html Could limb return walks be one of the reasons you choose for using MRS? Nick's view is that SRS is good for ascents and to work in column type trees where you stay within 30 degrees of an imaginery plumb line from the anchor point such as Conifers. Whereas he says MRS is good in smaller trees or when working wider off-plumb beyond 30 degrees. He says this at the 1:45:30 mark in this video. ruclips.net/video/BSxWty4053k/видео.html
Hey Casey, I recently bought land with some hazardous trees and have been arbsessing for months. I'm eager to try both the caraLINK and rig thimble friction saver in this video. For me, that rig ring friction saver holds appeal for light rigging/redirect too.

Pinned your comment so folks can see it. Thanks for clarifying!

Another great video, stoked to see the new set up for the studio. Congrats on starting the new business.
Thanks so much man. I appreciate you watching! Especially to the end. You're awesome
you should have called this Arbsession Obsession ❤

And the best of luck with the new business venture.
Is there any new gear you’re looking forward to get yourself or see a review off?
