All those 1980s UK/European pressings are making my mouth water :) WH Smith stores are a familiar sight at many US airports!
Thanks for tuning in. I did not know WH Smiths were in the US airports. Thanks for your comment.
W.H.Smith used to be a great place for buying vinyl in England. These days a trip to Sainsbury's can find you interesting vinyl.
Hi vinyl vault.
I recently found some Woolworths record bags from the early eighties. One bag has a picture a super star competition on the bag
If you were the lucky winner it was a trip for two to the USA. The other bags promote there low price record blitz.
Always look forward to your new videos. 🙂🙂
I am pleased for you. Its nice to get the old bags as many were thrown away. Thanks for letting me know you look forward to my videos as it's comments like these that make it all worth while. All the best and good hunting.
I remeber buying records in Smith's, that bag is in amazing condition. Our Price was always a great place to buy records, they had a lot of shops, and an iconic bag.
Yes, those were good times. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and come back soon.
Great album, Rattle n hum.
Yes, don't see it much these days, they must be sitting in private record collections.
It's all fascinating stuff to those like us that remember them and younger bods that have no idea. My favourite was Woolworths when they dropped out the chart they'd do singles for about 20p-£1. Of course the average Woolworths buyer had no idea who the smiths or sisters of mercy were.......
30-40 years ago now time has flown.
WHSmith does still do tons of overpriced books how it survives? I think by people in a panic at airports desperate for something to eat, drink or read. I'd say it is a truly crap shop these days. I had a period being into *wait for it* stationery...... but records took over pretty sharpish.
Nice comments, thank you! Yes, I can also remember Woolworths having cheap records that had dropped out the chart. I miss those days.
I must admit, those record bags are far more interesting than the content!🤣I well remember that WH Smith design. I must have bought at least a dozen LPs in those in the 80s.
You might be right. 👍
A lot people would tape their albums so a lot of albums do look like this I used to do this with a lot of my music back in the day
Oh yes, you are correct they did do that. Roll on the next boot fair.
There are prices on decent Vinyl store bags these days !!
I am not surprised as I guess most went in the bin. Thanks for your comment.
Nice little haul as always mate,..I always went to wh smiths and HMV,I remember them using tape on the handles of the bags..an anti shoplifting ploy lol,and I noticed all the Floyd on the shelves 👍
Thank you. Yes, good shops and I miss those days. I never thought of it has an anti shoplifting ploy but now it all makes sense. PS you spying in my racks. 😉
@@thevinylvault reminded me of my shelves I recognise the spines 👍
I never liked WH Smiths for records, they invariably used to keep just the outer sleeves in the racks and would end up in a dreadful condition from so much handling by customers.
HMV were decent back in the day but not anymore.
Oh yes, I vaguely remember WH Smiths doing that and the covers getting bent over. I had some visits to HMV oxford street back in the day. That shop was massive.
Why isn't your Pink Floyd albums in sequence?
Don't really know, do you have your in sequence?
Boring😢
I hope to find something you like next time.
