    Nyxi all the way because of all the reasons you mentioned plus the Nyxi doubles as a separate pro controller. Really makes you appreciate how good of a value the Nyxi controllers are. Thanks for the review.

    I recently got my Retroflag. The girocontrols work 100% perfectly. I tried it on Zelda ToTK and Metroid Prime. Hope this helps you!

    Nyxi just needs to make their joy cons come in gamecube colours. I'd happily swap the LED strips for better colour options.

      @SpiritedVT Год назад +2

      They have the Wizards, which is completely based around the gamecube controller. But I agree, having their Hyperion in those colours would be pretty

      hey, bit of a necropost but they recently launched the Gamecube color line of the Hyperions if you're till interested. They also come with the hall-effect joysticks, so win win!

    Appreciate the honest review of the RetroFlag controller for the Nintendo Switch.
    Found an online store here in Manila and they’re selling it for around $42-45.
    Thinking of getting one soon coz my left joycon is kinda acting up.

    I love the Retroflag controller! I would never tell anyone else to get it, because I know everyones opinion/preference will differ, but since I liked to play in Handheld Mode a lot before, after getting myself one of those, that's primarily the only way I now play my OLED Switch. I ended up buying a second one for my LCD Switch, and even purchased a third one, just for backup, in case one were to die on me, because I love it so much. The only 2 complaints I have, is, yes, you can get scratches on the siderails, especially on the OLED, but, if you're just going to be using it in Handheld Mode, and not taking it out, and putting it back into it, over and over again, then it's not, and wont be, that big of a deal. The only big negative, is that lack of gamecard slot cutout to be able to access the gamecard slot fully. Due to that, you have to slide the Switch out some, just to access the gamecard slot, to insert, or remove, a gamecard, and that is annoying, but is the only negative I've found with it, but that's just me, though.

    After ordering my Retroflag and trying it out for myself, I unfortunately have to strongly disagree with your review. First of all, you are comparing a controller that replaces joycons to something that is stable and not wobbly like the joycons. So your point that NYXI is better because you don't have to slide your switch to the controller is kinda not valid here, they are two different products for two different people. The controller is for someone who wants something on the go, where it's secure in our hands and the console doesn't move around as much in my hands. NYXI is way better than the standard joycons, but like I said, joycons and Retroflag controller are two different products (you yourself mentioned in one of the last sentences that Retroflag is more robust bcs of that).
    I also have to disagree that the Switch should scratch when you slide it into the Retroflag. The controller has a kind of cloth that just prevents the console from scratching, and you even mentioned it yourself in the video. But well, if the user is clumsy and has a lot of bad luck, he can scratch the Switch with the USB C container. I agree that the Nyxi has better placed joysticks and the Nyxi's trigger buttons are also better. However, I find the Retroflag much more comfortable because it doesn't have the angular grips like the Nyxi. Also, the Retroflag has a better D-pad for me personally because it has better tactility, which is more useful in fighting games. But yes, the Nyxi has it tighter (so probably a personal preference opinion).
    Your point about the flat bottom is irrelevant in my opinion, because who puts a console upright on a table and plays like that? You can't even see the screen. The extra buttons on the Nyxi are great, but Retroflag has the Hall Effect joystick, which is much better. And if you want the Nyxi with the Hall Effect Joystick, you have to pay the extra $10. I'd rather replace the RGB with a Hall Effect Joystick, but hey, they have to make money somehow.
    So in conclusion, if anyone is interested in Retroflag, this video isn't very indicative and you definitely know what you want.
    For future reference, I would take it as more of a comparison against the Nitro Deck or the NexiGo Controller/Gripcon.
    Otherwise, my comment is not meant as a hate, more just my opinion. At least thanks to your video I learned about Retroflag.

    • @WodverWizard
      @WodverWizard Год назад +4

      It's definitely weird since the switch thinks you've connected a pro controller, so it responds to motion control inputs as if you're holding the controller horizontally. For instance, to aim to the right, you'd have to lift the left half of your Switch, since you'll probably be holding it upright with the screen towards you.

    The Retroflag is more durable. My kids snapped the rails on the Nyxi's since they are brittle plastic. Not the Retroflag, That is a tank since it is one piece. I guess we all have different reason for buying grips and controllers. I like the Retroflag because it protects the charge port and it is durable. My kids are monsters. The Retroflag should have a kickstand and 2 black buttons. What a let down in that area.
    Anything that uses the rails I avoid. It is the weakest point of the Switch.

    retroflag all the way. feels more solid and ergonomic . no split function for multiplayer? nah, i got my ori joycon and cheap dope single joycon adapter for that. retroflag is mean to use in handheld mode anyway. docking? well still can connect retroflag with usb-c female to usb-a male connected to dock for that. the only cons is wired connection for docked mode

    Hi there, saw your video and it actually was informative but had just one question about the product. The right side rail joycon of my switch got messed up and will hardly will read unless separated from the switch or if I use a wireless gamepad controller. Would this work on it as an alternative? Like does it read it via the usb or the rails on the switch itself? Don't mind using my system as a Switch lite if that's the case. Hopefully it connects via the usb instead of the rail connector.

      via USB, but I recommend the Dobe TNS-19252, or NexiGo GripCon. Same product, different branding. Way better than Nitro Deck or Retroflag.

    8:05 my Retroflag controller actually can’t wake the Switch using the Home button UNLESS I had just put it to sleep a few seconds prior and am turning it back on again. It’s gotta be something to do the the fact that controller doesn’t have a battery and is powered by the Switch itself. Would love to have you confirm this! Or if this a newer firmware or something that can wake the Switch at all times
