    This would be a day one buy if this was released 2 or 3 yrs ago. But at this point where I have bought so many accessories for the Switch, and with the rumor of the next gen coming out next year, I’ll pass.

      I'm not sure if he talked about that patent Nintendo filed back in September that showcased some sort of hall-effect joy stick & he's (& every other Nintendo channel is) the "switch 2" guy or anything about the Sonic frontiers final horizon update but I could be wrong.

      100% agree! I feel the same. I love the switch, and I think it's still the best handheld, which gave birth to these wanna be pc handhelds, but I'm done collecting, buying accessories and games for it at this point. Haven't seen anything worth buying for it in the end of its life cycle. I'm looking forward to the more powerful switch 2.

    One interesting thing I noticed during the teardown was that they are using hall effect sensors for the triggers which is something that I never thought about. I think that Sony's adaptive triggers are probably much cooler tech but it did get me thinking that it would be cool if Nintendo finally went back to having analog triggers (or at least triggers that simulate that experience) simply to have a more nuanced experience when playing racing games or FPS games. While I'm not really a big fan of the latter, I do quite enjoy the former and I feel like Nintendo themselves could do some cool game design things with them aside from how it would also benefit third parties in bringing over ports with a similar feel to the other consoles that DO have analog triggers.

    I have a Nitro Deck and enjoy it. I really appreciate this critical look as I think this type of video can help with future revisions. My biggest issue is the eject of the switch and agree it needs a little kick. I don't like having to put pressure on the switch itself to remove. Better rumble would also be nice but not a deal breaker. Nice review. Thanks!

    I find myself wanting to use my switch more with the Nitro Deck. For me its the grip and I've tried other third party accessories and this just worked for me. I do agree I don't like the fact that I need to remove the console from the deck in order to use it docked, but I find myself not wanting to dock it with this grip. Fun fact I learned, the internal USB output works the same as the External USB C output, so I 3d printed an adapter the allows me to slide my phone into the the deck and it works pretty well.

    I just received my SNES version this last friday and i love it. And now that i have it in hand i dont have the same gripes that i see in alot of these reviews. The right joystick isnt too far down for me, the way the switch tablet is held in place feels secure (i know its not gonna fall out, and i dont have to press super hard on the screen to get it out if i want to dock it), and the rumble isnt as bad as alot of people make it out to be. Yeah its not HD rumble, but there are so many controller replacements out there for the switch that dont have rumble at all, or only have it on one side, that it makes me happy that they have a decent rumble feel on both sides. I also found that by turning down the intensity, it quiets the rumble sound enough for it not to be an annoyance. At least for me. Since i bought a limited edition version, it came with a charging cable, protective case (which is actually nice quality) and a micro fiber cloth to clean the screen. I only got my switch OLED just over a year ago, so i came to it late in its life cycle as is, so the timing of the nitro decks release also doesnt bother me much as i was able to get a limited edition version without having to go thru the after market process because i came in so late.
    Overall im relatively impressed by the nitro deck, and very happy with my purchase.

    Also it'd be nice of the eject button functioned like a steam controller's battery ejection - it's basically a plastic lever that pushes the batteries diagonally out of the enclosure. Very easy to get to work - so long as you don't buy a used controller with corrosion in the mechanism.

The amount of travel the sticks feels far to massive even compared to the pro controller and while I dont expect hd rumble, it really needs better motors or motor placement. It feels really cheap even at low intensity. I doubt theyll make a 2.0 since switch 2 is on its way. Maybe they make one for that and worl on those things.

But, that right thumbstick does look like a pain in the butt. Still, I'm sure it will be great for a lot of people. Although, I would not recommend it. The thing you need to understand, is that you'll never have that controller vibe, that in my opinion, is essential to playing any game. My #1 most highly recommended accessory you can buy for the Switch, is without question, the Fixture S2. The Fixture S2 is a clip-on, that attaches onto your Switch Pro Controller only, and then you slide the Switch onto the adjustable arm rails. It kinda looks like a typical phone controller clip-on, but this is no $10 cheapy phone clip-on that typically feel terrible. What makes the Fixture S2 feel so good, compared to many other controller clip-ons, is it's angular arm design position. The arm keeps the display hovered nicely over the front of the your controller, which creates this center of gravity and balance, that just feels perfect to hold. The Fixture S2 is an absolute Masterpiece. It's a must buy accessory for any Switch owner. Look, I can't stress this enough... No matter how hard you look for a great new accessory for your Switch, there is nothing that feels better than holding an actual controller. If you don't like the Fixture S2, then return it. But, I'll bet my bottom dollar that you'll keep it. I'm sure Spawn Wave has already reviewed it. If not, then it's time to. Anyways, Great Review Spawn Wave! Take Care Ya'll! Cheers! 🍻

    They fail on OLED models fairly regularly, and the company doesn’t acknowledge it.

    This is really neat but the timing is off. I would have bought this like 3 years ago but I have other grips that do the job for handheld mode. Neat idea for those that just got a switch.

    the output isn't to charge your phone, it's to connect it wired to the dock so you can use it while in docked mode.

    I would definitely be interested in this in a pre-Steam Deck world. I don't even use my Switch anymore at this point though and we're likely to see the Switch 2 in less than a year so what's the point?

    Just to let you know on their website they have the GameCube Edition, the Mint Edition, Super Nintendo Edition, then multiple colors transparent, but they don't ship until December for those also the Super Nintendo Edition, the GameCube Edition, the Mint Edition and the transparent ones come with the case

    Bought the White Edition and been no-lifing my NS for the past month. I get to play handheld again!
    Even if the next Nintendo console releases soon, I'll still make use of my NS and Nitro Deck. I have the gen 1 NS, so I'll definitely be modding/hacking it when I get the new console

  • @Amy-J
    @Amy-J 9 месяцев назад

    Personally I went for the split pads so I could have a chance in handheld with what few FPS games there are on the Switch.
    That said, while it’s better than joycons, I would’ve loved this Nitro Deck if it had a more Pro Controller layout.

    Can you do power in on the input and then USB c to HDMI using the output to a TV so it kinda functions like it's own dock?

    • @Reallife315
      @Reallife315 7 месяцев назад

      No, it doesn’t have any sort of hdmi out functionality. You’d think you could at least connect to the switch dock and output to the tv from there. But you can’t.

    Honestly you called it. The stick placement isn't ideal for anything that's right stick reliant, if they'd gone with the WiiU style they'd have had something special cause the wiiU gamepad was very comfortable

    Whether or not it the dpad is better is very situational with your games. I play a lot of Puyo Puyo Tetris, so the 4 individual buttons give me a lot more precision.

    Ejecting the switch easily - hold it so you have both thumbs on the back of the Nitro (with the back of the Nitro Deck facing toward you), right thumb on the 'eject switch', left around the kick stand/input output rige. Flick up the eject button with your right thumb and you can easily pull out the switch with just your left hand fingers.
    Slides out perfectly.

    Working well so far. Perfect timing since more crappy Hori Joycon products fell apart and the sticks went ballistic on my last Nintendo Joycon. Wish 8bitdo made Joycon since their controllers are the only ones I have for switch that stay working past 3-6 months.

    The D-pad is better for fighting games than the one on the Switch Lite... but not by enough. :( On the plus side, I'm using my full-sized Switch with the Nitro Deck, which is something I almost never did with the Joycons attached.
