@@RCBoatBitz Sounds like they did TRY to get out of of covering it. Just imagine your average user that would not be recording for a youtube video on their first run, I feel confident that traxxas would just be like "too bad, user error." I mean that is what they TRIED to do to you...
That looked super dangerous, I hope you get to the bottom of what caused the running issues, because imagine that boat hitting someone at that speed, it could inflict serious damage.
@@jaycevessier7554 i know it was laughable, they saw the grease tube hadnt been opened so tried to blame that i guess, i said a new rtr should be greased and ready to use anyhow
Wow, that's crazy. Eager to see how SR version does compared to your previous version. How do you feel about Traxxas hull durability vs Proboat's polycarbonate hulls like the Sonicwake after the crash? Is one better/stronger than the other or all plastic rtr boats similar?
Ive never ran a proboat up the bank so cant compare the 2 but the first time i flipped our blackjack 42 it did major damage, have never had a problem like that with traxxas i must say
They offered to fix it after i showed them the video but i ended up getting a refund and ordered another one. In the end i lost $75 in shipping fees but its better than risking the same thing happening after they 'fix' a problem that doesnt show up on the bench
You have not diagnosed the fault - then we can look at how it can be prevented. It's obvious that you lost throttle control - it appeared to get stuck on full throttle. Did you also lose control over the steering servo? First thing to swap out - try another ESC. Then try the Traxxas ESC with another motor. An ESC fault is the most likely cause. You could also test the receiver by swapping to another boat and another receiver in this boat, it's possible the receiver 'locked up' and had no fail-safe mode.. If it turns out the ESC failed - then I see no fail-safe option for this other than 'binding' a second receiver and servo to act as a power shut off = more cost, but better than injuring someone when using fast boats / planes / cars / drones. (The Noble NB4 Pro+ can do this). If the cost of adding a proper 'power fail-safe' (on throttle close) to these boats is around 100.00 USD, then it should be enforced before we all get banned.
@@RCBoatBitz Traxxas Spartan SR first run didnt go well, It's completely stock, except plastic prop was replaced with an identical profile CNC unit. Initially, Traxxas pointed fingers at the lack of grease on the cable, but after I shared this video, they approved my warranty claim-proving their great customer service reputation. After a month, they offered to either repair my boat with new parts or refund my money, minus a $75 shipping fee. I opted for the refund and decided to order another boat since I didn't want to risk another runaway situation! That's what I read, I therefore presume because it's a warranty claim you did not mess with it and simply went for the refund. However, we therefore learnt nothing about what failed and what could be done to prevent this occurring. Adding a second receiver with a power switch servo might be the only way. If we do nothing, then public authorities in some parts of the world will try to ban them and we all lose.
Yes water leaks and things could be improved but this was something out of the norm, as you probably saw in the description they took care of it for me
Typical Traxxas garbage ass electronics.💯🤦♂️ Id make traxxas refund my entire purchase and go buy something else from Proboat. The Sonicwake V2 is pretty nice!💯✌️
I bet the company will find some excuse to not cover that. Wild, man!
No that didnt happen, i wrote what happened in the video description
@RCBoatBitz shocking!

Traxxas enough said 😂😂😂😂😂
We are not alone !? 😂
Gremlins in the hull
Seriously, sad to see hope I never lose a boat like that.
its all good, i got a refund in the end
That would piss me off. Just picked up a barely used Aquacraft Revolt. That thing runs absolutely amazing.
traxxas did the right thing with the warranty claim so all good
did you test it before you put it in the water?
You didnt notice the motor running on the bank at the start of the video then?
Traxxas has always done this: turn on the radio and WITHIN A FEW SECONDS turn on the receiver; if you delay, the radio and receiver will not bind
It was bound or it wouldnt have worked when the battery was connected

i was wondering where the spartan sr video was
Its taken a while to get that resolved, havent had a chance to unbox the new one yet

They are good quality, just a little expensive imo
