  • Find Your Way Back is a song performed by Jefferson Starship. It is the first single from the album Modern Times, reaching #29 on the Billboard Hot 100. Written by guitarist Craig Chaquico and Tom Borsdorf, if features a ringing, jangly theme throughout.
    The main riff in reminiscent of Pete Townshend’s “See Me, Feel Me” riff that he used often throughout the 1968 to 1971 time period.
    Modern Times is a 1981 album by Jefferson Starship. Grace Slick appeared on this album after a three-year absence. She returned near the end of the recording sessions, providing background vocals on some tracks as well as lead vocals on the single "Stranger" as a duet with lead singer Mickey Thomas. MTV debuted in 1981 and this was the first Jefferson Starship album to have promotional music videos. It was also the first album to feature a charting single on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, which had premiered earlier in the year. The single "Find Your Way Back" reached #3 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

    I'm no pro player - never in a band and have a terrible ear for notes - thankfully I obviously only play for fun !! Thank you so much for the lesson on this cool song - since there's NO tabs online that cover the fills / solo work - this was GREAT FUN - THANKS AGAIN !!

    To see you break down the song is pretty cool,I drum and manage bands they just jam until get what they are after.

    Any Boston or Asia in your videos

    • @MarkZabel

      You know, I don't have any of either of those bands! I used to play a bunch of songs from the first Asia album in one of my bands 100 years or so ago! Heat of the Moment (of course) and Sole Survivor and And I love Boston ... I'm probably just avoiding them because of the sound and the harmony. My fave is probably the end of Hitch a Ride. I really think that guitar interplay is masterful! But there's plenty of other things like Cool The Engines, We're Ready, and the like. And I only have one REO song. Gotta put up a few more.
      Thanks for jogging my memory to do some of these great bands!!

      @@MarkZabel I am addicted to music. It is how I was asked to manage a local band, that lead to 23 locals and booking agent for two others, plus three soloist. It was fun, have a whole new way of listening to the song.

      If you ever get stuck let me know, I have 8 volume encyclopedia of popular music approx 1k pages each volume, can find nearly any song you want, from bands I never heard of. Others I wouldn't.
      Asia, some Van Halen, Fleetwood mac, little Journey, some left to go solo, Bob Welch, George Harrison, Steve Nicks, The Who, my favorite band is Rock and Roll even one hit wonders. how about the beatles groomed Badfinger, no badder song to drum to than Baby Blue. Sure Sunday Bloody Sunday is drum favorite or Dance the Night Away.
      the popular gutiais list, Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, on and on.
      Music is powerful, can heal, can calm you or excite, stir emotions. what is one's favorite another cringes.
      you are good at what you do, keep it up.

  • @garycooper8687
    @garycooper8687 6 лет назад +1

    I always arrpegio the intro walking the scale from the fourth back to the sixth string. Slide into the solo and walk up. At the end the rif is unequally spaced and you have to come down hard on the ending of the stanzas.

    Hi, I am a south Florida guitarist with a double guitar attack band looking for the guitar tablature of the Jefferson Starship hit “FIND YOUR WAY BACK.” I want to correctly nail the harmony guitar solo parts. Can you please point me to any songbook, guitar magazine etc. where this great song was properly mapped out?
    TIA, Doug

    New guitar??

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  7 лет назад

      No, I've had it for a while, but I haven't used it in recent videos. Actually, it's an amazing guitar. If it had a tremolo I'd get rid of my strat. (They only had the "locking trem" option, and I'm not into that.) Seriously, the neck, the fit, the pickups and versatile, single coil switching ... and it's super-thin ... only 5.2 pounds, which matters more and more to me as I get older!
