I saw Blind Faith July 13 1969 in Bridgeport Ct. Of course the perform the entire album. They were using Firebirds. Though the Free were billed as opener, Rory Gallagher (The Taste) opened, followed by Delaney and Bonnie then Bling Faith. Janis Joplin came and hung out at the concert. She had played the Yale Bowl in New Haven the night before. Great night.
That was a month before the Woodstock festival!!! To see Blind Faith, Free, Taste, Delaney and Bonnie had to be special!!! One of the early multi- band shows!!!
I saw them at Madison Square Garden the same summer. I can remember Free and Delaney and Bonnie as the opening acts. The thing I also remember is that Blind Faith only played for about 35-40 minutes and we stormed the stage... don't think at the time they were getting along very well.
Same here.. If you are new to this song, it’s really worth DLing to hear. Not just for Stevie Winwood’s amazingly smooth vocal performance on it [Notice, no matter how high he sings, his voice never ever thins out!] This made him one of the most sought after vocalists of the times. Plus, DL to hear the ultra-complementary Nylon String lead going on constantly along with the rhythm, shown so nicely here, to the point where they practically blend as one, for they dove tail so well together, they enrich each other. So very worth a quick listen.
Atlantic City… played this tune in places back in the early 1970’s and no one gave a shit. 50 years later it has resurfaced in hundreds of video lessons… I like yours the best
Phoenix AZ: Angela, you know your stuff. Notes are spot on and your teaching slow repetitively works great. I’ve been playing for 50 years & I learned a song from you that I’ve wanted to play for that time frame. Just relax & teach without worrying about what we are thinking about you. You are great!
Just became aware of this lesson from you today. No one teaches the way that you do. Thank you so much for inspiring and encouraging all of us. You are an incredible gift to all of us making all of our musical lives so much richer. We so appreciate your talent and enthusiasm. I personally am so indebted to you for the joy that you have given me through learning new songs, thank you so much.
I’m an old guy that decided he wanted to start playing guitar a few months ago and I’m desperately trying to follow along. I love your passion and also your teaching method. It suits my learning modalities (albeit a tough go for me). Thanks for these lessons!
I'm right there with you, Brother! I picked up a guitar for the first time at age 60. Fast forward two years and I'm fair with basic chords but looking to continue to get better. Angela makes it a lot easier the way she breaks things down. Stay with it!
I wish some day I can play this song and make it sound something like a song.... Clapton loved watching Duane Allman play he would crawl under the stage just to get a closer look at Duane playing slide...he was a huge fan....so when they got together to form Derek and the Domino's....like blind faith only produced one album.... really liked that one....my mom taught me how to play Layla on piano....loved it
In retirement I have turned to all my lovely guitars to play these again. Do I like Blind Faith, YES, I saw them live in Regents Park London. Will I learn this tune, well maybe. BUT I could watch you all day, your personality is infectious. Please keep teaching videos going, you are great to watch. I shall keep a watch out for yet further hours of entertainment.
Really excellent job of teaching this song! You broke it down into digestible parts and brought it all together in the end. With enthusiasm and lots of smiles. Well done Angela! I am now a fan!
I’m 72 and love this song. Brings me back to the good times I had in the 60’s. It sounds like they’re playing this on a resonator guitar. I have one and I am going to try it.
Certainly it's one of those songs that can be put on an endless loop, and never get boring. John Paul Jones playing "Going to California" on the mandolin is like that too.
I was in Bridgeport in 1969 too. They blended so well it felt like they’d been together for years. Then they dissolved onto their own separate paths. What a great series of concerts in Bridgeport . The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and Blind Faith.
mustve been the same tour that came thru LA at devonshire downs in 69... my brothers all went ..i was too young to go .. remember really wanting to see jimmy.. i can still feel the disappointment 😢
First time going by seeing you teaching I would say you are truly amazing woman if you don't mind me saying so. Love seeing you love listening to you love learning from you and just love you. You inspire me God bless you
Hi Angela, coming to you from Palmdale Ca., North LA county. Only been play for a year and a half. So happy i found you, you're exactly what i need at this point.
Went into a record store in Pittsburgh, a big record store, asked where the blind faith albums were. The clerk said he never heard of them, I was gobsmacked. Thank you Miss P.
Your lesson on this song is awesome, so clear and entertaining. I really learned much more from your instruction. Looking forward to more from your channel.
Thanks Angela and Greetings from England .A great song and a great lesson, and a minor win for me. I'm 69 years old and been playing for about 3 years. I attempted this lesson about a year ago and found it very trying......... I've just come back to it this evening and I've almost mastered it!!
Thanks for the lesson, Angela. As a former SoCal guy from Huntington Beach and been away for about 12 years here in Southern Indiana, I sure wish I could find my way home. :)
Your lessons are at a nice pace and thank you for taking the time to show us each note you are playing...and keep repeating it....I feel good when you advance to the next section.
Even though I played the song over and over and I think I have a down Pat the last few days when I've come home from work I've jumped right on RUclips to grab this video and play it along with you it's so fun to play thank you Angela for all your videos videos we all love you
OMG Angela! One of my favorite old tunes. Thank you so much for teaching this song ❤ Huge EC fan and Steve Winwood as well. They have created and shared so much great music. I was listening to this as recently recorded music when I was in HS
Fantastic lesson, thank you! You've taken me from being awestruck by this tune to being close to playing it in 4 watches, really grateful for this and will definitely be checking out your other lessons!
Hey Angela! I have to give you thanks from the bottom of my heart. 5 Years ago I stopped playing guitar. Going thru many challenges in life and losing my wife and family. For some reason I stopped playing .Stopped learning. But last week I found this video and picked up my guitar again and it has helped me start healing in my life and my divorce. I saw your video and it inspired me to dust off my guitar and start playing again this week. You are a great teacher and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your videos put me at ease and songs I never attempted to learn you make it seem easy. Thank you from your newest fan!
And all about a guy getting too inebriated. Wow. I never considered that Winwood might be a connoisseur of alcoholic beverages until reflecting on this song, and "John Barleycorn." Not being able to find his way home may be how the World lost guitar virtuoso Gary Moore. Just live forever Stevie.
Vancouver Island BC Canada. I’ve been working on Hideaway ~ Albert King but love Clapton’s version on Blues Breakers album. Fav album Clapton and Winwood Live at Madison Square Garden!!
I have tried to play this for a long time. Your breaking it into parts and slowly going through the combination chords/chords with a bass note really helped me get it. The drop D also adds a nice touch. Thanks.
I've done this song just about every gig since 1975. I still love it. Great to sing too, a lot of meat on the bones vocally. I like your guitar too. I play a 000-28 and a D-16. You're really good at this! Keep it up. Great way to pay it forward. If you were my daughter I'd be very proud.
I gotta say, You have inspired me to take up guitar again, .... I sat it down for 10 years after I had my stoke. I was learning this song when I had my stroke in 2012, I love this song and I love your teacing meathod. Thank you
Awesome lesson! I've watched a few of the tutorials on this song! You rocked it girl! I've been playing for years, since I was 12 years old. took a 2 year course in High school. Did the Rock band thing, play the bar seen! I'm 59 now and I'm still learning and Thank you so much! XO
Thank you so much for sharing this. I fell in love with Cream and it took me a while to learn about Blind Faith.. they both produced amazing music! Love and positive vibes from Rome, Italy!
Love how you teach me... Just bought a new Gibson J45 12 string.. and just had it set up professionally, wow!!! Much love to you and thank you for doing this for us.. you really have inspired me to play more..
Finally someone who knows how to play and teach this! Thanks so much I can't wait to learn this from you. Tuning in from Western Canada. Favourite Clapton lineup is the short lived but glorious Cream.

Thanks for your insightful instruction on this beautiful blues composition. I had begun this piece with another instructor and he is very good with the melody within the chords but you provided clarity on the chord arpeggios, the strum/fingerings, to D on the 6th, and clarity on use of the sus A, and the F# hammer on the D chord, (to which I took the liberty of also adding to the D, a pinky hammer on at the E string G and its pull off back to the regular D chord, just because to me it also seemed to fit haha) been playing approx 6 months and my experience has been greatly enhanced by your comprehensive instruction!
Love yer passion for teaching mang!! Edmonton Alberta... Canadafindmywayhome lol. I don't have a favorite Clapton era cuz the frikn guy STILL just continues to amaze me...

Hi Angela. Once again you have struck a chord (hit me where I live) on a beautifully done lesson. Having mastered your "Rain Song" lesson, I'm learning this one now. I already played this but not nearly as well as you do. Thanks again for being the best guitar teacher on RUclips. It's not even close....:).

Wow, that must have been awesome.
I saw them in Hyde Park, London, that same summer. I was 17yrs old.
Angela, your enthusiasm, personality and method of breaking this song down makes this lesson fun, focused and with feeling! Thank you for all you do…
Blind Faith made one record and, man, didn't they make it count. I love this song. Thank you for this tutuorial.
I grew up with Blind Faith - glad to see that someone much younger likes the music from the late 60's, early 70's.

Carry on bravely.
