      Hey Andrew, thanks for the kind feedback, great to hear from a fellow decorator.. I understand the nervous feeling about spraying, we’ve all been there. Go for it, don’t give up, and you won’t look back.. Some go for a handheld or a ‘diy’ unit as a first sprayer but my advice is you won’t get the full experience.. The Graco handheld for example is awesome, but it’s for small / touch up jobs to compliment the bigger sprayers.. I’d look at the Graco GX.. sprayers, they’re not as expensive as their bigger counterparts, and they’re aimed at the professional, spraying decorative coatings, that’s not spraying all day every day.. Best of luck and keep in touch.. I’m always available to answer questions the best I can 👍💯

    Another great job. All in 1 day? How long for paint to dry. Also, been looking at the GX FF, could you do furniture with it too? Sorry for so many questions. Really enjoying your videos, very inspirational

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  3 года назад +4

      Hey Steve.. Thanks my friend.. Yes, completed in 1 day.. a ceiling project such as this can be prepped, masked, mist coated and 2 top coats, all in 1 day.. Masking is very quick with practice and a 3M Hand Masker helps. The mist coat sucks into the new plaster super quick, the first full coat can pretty much follow. Then after around 2 hours I spray another coat.. It is possible to be even quicker and ‘cross hatch’ the final coat straight away (I’m just in no rush 😆).. That’s the advantage of spraying, with a roller you would drag the paint and spoil the finish by adding texture if it’s not perfectly dry..
      No problem at all with the questions.. The Graco GXFF is a great versatile machine, I’m very much a fan.. Yes you could spray furniture, with the right setup.. Product selection, FFLP spray tips, spraying at the lowest possible pressure with a nice fan pattern, making sure you move quick enough.. the finish is excellent 👌
      ..If furniture spraying was all you was doing, then a HVLP setup might suit.. This is different technology, using a high volume of air from a compressor or turbine to atomise the paint.. A negative is, you’ll have to thin the paint with ‘decorative / architectural’ higher viscosity coatings..
      Hope this helps.. feel free to ask away and I’ll do my best to answer 😊 ..Regards Pete

    Hi Pete I noticed on one of your vlogs you using a 7.5 metre hose line (3/16) I've got Graco 390 it comes with a hose slightly thicker 15 m long hose I'm wondering do you normally use the shorter lesser diameter hose and what's the pros for use a hopper compared to just putting the syphon tube straight into the material your feedback is very much appreciated still haven't taken machine out of the box yet😀 but buying all sorts of HEA tips, masking tape after watching you

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад +3

      Hi Martyn, always a pleasure to hear from you.. yeah I’m a big fan of using the smaller hose setup (7.5m 3/16”) along with a hopper kit.. basically for the Classic / ST Max line of sprayers, it’s known as a Graco Airless Finishing Kit..
      www.sprayman.co.uk/product/19b968
      The smaller hose setup is just so much more manoeuvrable and it’s surprising how far you can reach around a project.. going room to room. The Finishing Kit also comes with a 1/8” whip hose, I believe to be one of the smallest diameter shoe lace whip hoses on the market..
      Another benefit of the smaller setup, along with the hopper, it takes a smaller amount of material to prime the system / hose and get spraying.. faster clean up too
      It’s time to get your lovely 390 sprayer out the box my friend 😆 ..I’m more than happy to help and advise all I can.. really appreciate your kind words supporting the channel, all the very best.. regards Pete

      Great question my friend.. both brands have made a real breakthrough in airless spraying, especially in domestic / furnished properties.. the ability to spray at much lower pressure, have less bounce back and control overspray is a winner.. it all depends what is being sprayed, I’m finding myself using the HEA 515 more often and being able to achieve a nice fan at that bit lower pressure Vs LP tips.. keep in touch buddy, great to have your input on the channel.. regards Pete

    Hello. My question is. I have a Wagner 250M and spraying with tip 517. Problem I have I'm using speed 4 and all room is in like mist of paint in air. Everything covered and also myself. Paint falls down like rain. How to prevent this happening and stop making room so messy. All is foiled of course but floor is like on winter. Please help. I'm starting spraying now and would like to understand logic. Thank You. Rafal.

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад +1

      Hi Rafal, thanks for watching and your contribution to the channel.. I’m happy to help.. You might benefit from a HEA 515 tip, rather than a 517 tip.. You often see me using a 515, the .015 size will slow down the flow.. not sure if you’ve seen this video..
      ruclips.net/video/3Mlzp37Uepg/видео.html
      I use a Wagner TradeTip 3 Tip Holder 7/8” that will fit your gun and will take a Wagner HEA ProTip 515.. these are Pro grade spray tips (rounded in appearance, rather than hexagon shape, which are ControlPro proprietary tips..
      All this said, I’m not sure what material (emulsion) you’re spraying, I’m guessing it’s not too thick, or you’ve thinned because speed 4, you’re not flat out (5).. Or have you thinned too much and now the pressure is too high 😆 ..I say that because it sounds like the emulsion is ‘bouncing back’ off the ceiling / walls, causing the mess you’re referring to... Or maybe you’re too close to the ceiling / wall.. aim for approx 12” away from the object and keep the gun square, moving relatively quick 👍
      Sometimes it could be the emulsion, some off the shelf decorative paints are not geared to spray nice (they still suit a brush / roller more).. I’m putting a video out Sunday morning that shows with the right setup and emulsion, you really can spray very clean 👍
      Hope this helps, keep going my friend you’ll get there and I’ll help all I can.. take a look at the above video link, hope that helps too.. regards Pete 🎨💯

      @@PaintHQ Hi Pete. I'm using paint MacPherson Vinyl Matt. Quite thick but I add a bit water to make it smooth as it's like yogurt. Probably You are right I can use different paint and see what's happening? I have seen you have used Tikkurilla AR2. Also not suppose is something on the market like connector adaptor connecting 7/8 thread of Wagner to standard Graco thread hose? I'm asking because I have straight gun for connecting to internal paint feeding roller. Thank You.

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад

      Hey buddy.. ah unfortunately the ControlPro hose connections are low pressure proprietary fittings.. it’s to stop someone using a lower pressure ControlPro hose on a ‘higher rated’ spray machine, it wouldn’t handle the pressure and could be dangerous.. this video touches on that subject
      ruclips.net/video/3Mlzp37Uepg/видео.html
      However if the pressure / inner feed roller has a 7/8” gun fitting, it will fit the regular HEA gun.. but you wouldn’t be able to use an in-line gun with a ControlPro sprayer unfortunately.. regular guns with a pressure / inner feed roller are slightly uncomfortable’ but do still work effectively 👍 hope this helps my friend.. regards Pete

      I know exactly what your talking about . The best set up to prevent very very very little over spray , and even better than these Wagner tips is a flat tip set up . Not a reverse tip , fflp, lp,rac x, none of those ….. a straight old school flat tip with the cone filter and round tip ..you will not have any dry fall ….. watch a video from a RUclipsr named mike the painter or mikethepainter that’s the set up and it’s pretty much no overspray . • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  3 года назад +1

      Great question my friend 💯 to be honest I’d spray all ceilings, small or large.. and it’s something I recommend to anyone, especially those that might apprehensive about spraying.. as you’ve found, it’s so much less laborious and taxing on the body and the results are always amazing.. pricing wise, I typically price as I would have done historically as a Painter and Decorator, like any tradesman going on how many days it would take to complete.. if for example, it’s a small bathroom ceiling.. to mask up / protect and spray, I would take a day and I’m never in any rush.. I’m happy to take my time and when the job is done and the masking is removed.. spend sone time cleaning up after other trades, making everywhere nice 😆
      This ceiling was sprayed with a budget / DIY sprayer.. a Wagner 250M.. it was a small bathroom ceiling.. ruclips.net/video/3Mlzp37Uepg/видео.html
      Then this one is using the Graco Handheld.. It’s a small bathroom with half height tiles ruclips.net/video/9gJxe0b857o/видео.html
      I’m a big fan of this pump, but I don’t typically recommend it as a sole machine.. really it’s to compliment the bigger sprayers.. Which sprayer is it you’re using if you don’t mind me asking?..
      I’m really glad you’ve found the benefits of spraying, it is very satisfying and very rewarding.. I’m also thankful you’ve found my channel, please keep in contact, it’s great to have your contribution.. I’m more than happy to help any way I can, I try to cover handyman projects too.. such as drywall repairs, that cross over to the painting world.. I’d appreciate your input 💯 all the best.. Pete

    Hi im looking to buy a sprayer to paint my house . Just a question can just use normal crown or dulux Matt emulsion thinned down or do need special paint ? Also how much would you thin down the top coat if im using a Wagner 350m? Thanks

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  Год назад +1

      Hello my friend.. apologies for my delayed reply.. in theory, yes you can use ‘normal’ emulsion, it’s not a special paint.. typically an emulsion that can also be brushed and rolled.. however, some products / brands can be airless sprayed better than others.. certainly ‘cheap’ Crown ‘contract’ paint doesn’t respond well.. dulux should go through.. I find a dilution 10% max, using warm water helps lower the viscosity and ease for airless spraying.. I tend to use a 515 tip, if using a 517.. try undiluted first, then add water to a max 10%.. the 350m should handle spraying an emulsion quite well 👍 ..let me know how you get on, happy to help anytime, I’ll always get back to you 👍 keep in touch.. regards Pete 🙏

      I believe the 350M comes with a 311, I’d use that.. Cuprinol is relatively thin (lower viscosity), the .011 orifice will let out less paint Vs a .017 ..I’m spraying Cuprinol in this video, using a 210.. the 311 will be the best match for you without having to buy another tip 😆

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  3 года назад +1

      I do very much rate the GX models.. These are aimed at painter and decorator professionals or a DIYer wanting the full airless experience.. I particularly like the GX21 with a hopper kit (known as a GX21FF).. It has a bigger pump than the GXFF.. like I say it’s a GX21 with its warranty intact, but modified. You can easily and quickly change between hopper and siphon mode.. if you think there’s potential to be spraying all day every day, like on site, then the 390 is great.. but I’d stretch a bit further to a 395. For the extra outlay you get a bigger pump and SmartControl (regulates pressure).. Not sure It’s possible to deal with SpraymanUK from Ireland, if you can give them a call and speak to Mike.. His knowledge is the best in the industry.. (I’m not sponsored by them to say that 😊).. the tip you are useing is it control tip or pro tip?

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад

      Hey Gareth, it’s pro tip.. Wagner HEA ProTip, so you would also need the Wagner TradeTip 3 Tip Holder 👍 ..I admit, it can be confusing 😆
      Same setup I use in this video..

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад +1

      I know what you’re saying but it’s more to do with stopping / discouraging people using a ControlPro tip in a pro guard / with a pro setup.. it would be dangerous, pro setups operate at much higher pressure ..Hope this helps.. regards Pete

      @@PaintHQ what is diffrence between a control tip to pro tip ?

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад +1

      Hi Gareth, in terms of atomising paint and not comparing to fine finish tips.. you’re not going to see much difference in finish with a ControlPro tip Vs ProTip.. but the ProTip will last and produce results for longer 👍

    Hello, good morning, very good video, it is perfectly understood what you want to demonstrate just by watching you work.
    What is your opinion of Graco, Titan and Wagner?
    Kind regards.

    • @PaintHQ

      Hey Enrique, thank you so much for watching and the kind words.. very much appreciated my friend.. These Airless manufacturers that you list, all make very good professional grade pumps.. each has comparable rated products in each professional category.. From experience of using my Graco 395, I’m very happy with build quality and performance.. then for example Titan has its 440i, whilst I have no experience using one, I know it’s a well built machine that will work hard for you.. hope this helps a little.. are you thinking of purchasing an airless spray machine or do you currently own one?.. I’m more than happy to help any way I can.. really appreciate you engaging in the channel, keep in touch.. regards Pete 🎨💯

      @@PaintHQ I asked your opinion of the 3 brands because I have read very different comments from other colleagues.
      Right now I have a Magnum Pro X9, Ultra 395 and Ultimate MX 795.
      I am interested in testing the HEA nozzles to compare them with the FFLP.
      Thanks for answering.

      Ah nice, you’ve got some big Graco pumps there my friend 👏 very nice 👌👍 ..To use Wagner / Titan HEA tips, you need the Wagner TradeTip 3 Tip Holder 7/8” to fit the Graco spray gun (or any manufacturer 7/8” airless gun) ..Which will be able to take Wagner HEA ProTip / Titan TR1 HEA airless spray tips.. I do very much rate the HEA tips 👌💯 especially spraying emulsions at much lower pressure.. check out

    Hi Pete I'm using only graco tips is there big difference between garco and Wagner??

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  3 года назад

      Hey Rafal, no Graco LP (low pressure) tips are excellent my friend.. I’ve just been using the Wagner HEA 515 more and more.. basically HEA is the Wagner version of LP tips.. my opinion the spray pressure can be a little lower with Wagner HEA Vs Graco LP and as a result the atomisation is a bit courser, but that’s ok.. hope this helps, always great to hear from you.. feel free to ask questions anytime and let me know about any success you have.. regards Pete 🎨💯

      You’re so kind, thank you.. you can cross hatch a ceiling to a finish (spray left to right then the other way, front to back).. which means little to no time waiting.. I choose just to have a break, a tidy up and a coffee ☕️😆 ..so yeah, I’m waiting approx an hour then I spray the ceiling in again before going in to take the masking down.. keep in touch, great to have your feedback on the channel.. regards Pete

    no sense in worrying about "low overspray" when you mask off EVERYTHING , hell you could paint that ceiling with a leaf blower !!!!!!! lol

      Haha you’re right 😂 ..Yeah the walls were fully tiled, so 99” plastic was used.. ends up looking like a scene out of E.T. 👽🤣 ..what’s nice though spraying at such low pressure, is no paint bouncing back into the eyes.. sprays so clean.. thanks for your input on the channel, great to hear from you my friend 👍 ..regards Pete

      @@PaintHQ Yes I understand that part .... I know low pressure is best if possible , you don't come home looking like a ghost ... I'm sure the ceiling came out great looking and that's what matters most
