While playing in this production, Mariusz was not long after a back surgery (he couldn't play in the premiere because of it) and his voice wasn't in best shape, so you just got to forgive him this little voice-crack at the beginning of the aria ;) I think he did great in the whole production though (which I highly recommend to you).
Mariusz a vraiment la plus belle voix du monde. Son "Don Juan" du Met "est inoubliable."

Przepiękny występ, mimo kontuzji. Urocza Mojca, ciepły i szlachetny głos Mariusza...Porównać to do nowej produkcji Don Giovanniego w MET A.D. 2023....ech, szkoda słów! Równia pochyła, której dnem dna (?) jest "Czarodziejski flet" w dziadowskiej (dosłownie) wersji kloszardowskiej. Koszmar
O ile w przypadku Don Giovanniego można mówić o jakiejkolwiek szlachetności... było nie było jest gwałcicielem i mordercą.

Leon Mare She is a great and very emotional singer. And she really understands Mozart. I highly recommend you listen to her "Ach ich fühl's" from Die Zauberflöte. I have never heard anyone sing this as beautifully as she does.

The best rendition I ever heard of this exquisite duet was sung by Kathleen Battle and Samuel Ramey from a Don Giovanni performed at the Mozart festival in Salzburg in the 1980’s.
Ramey is great, his Don Giovanni is legendary. Not a fan of Battle though. The stories of her behaviour and treatment of her colleagues don't really let me enjoy any of her recordings...

Ach Leute, was erhebt man bloss dieses an sich harmlose Duett ewig zum non plus ultra. Diese Oper hat viel größere Partien zu bieten. Tiefe Dramatik, Ästhetik z.B. im Maskenterzett, oder in den wenigen, aber hoch ästhetischen Partien des Don Ottavio. Wenn einem bis dahin noch nicht Schauer über den Körper laufen, dann hier, mit Sicherheit. Mozart spielt hier seine Fähigkeit zur Ästhetik und Tiefe voll aus, ganz bewusst, ganz schlicht, tief bewegend. DAS IST DER ERWACHSENE MOZART, und - DAS ZERREISST DIE SEELE. Zerlina und Guovanni - nun ja, ganz niedlich - und völlig harmlos dagegen....

a co to znaczy "film z Polski? Polska jest nazwa kanału, ok, Polakiem jest jeden ze śpiewaków, Pani Erdmann jest Niemką, kompozytor również, autor libretta jest Włochem, a nagranie pochodzi ze spektaklu wystawianego w USA :D
Opera jest multikulturowa i to jest piękne :) język nie jest ograniczeniem, kiedy w grę wchodzi Muzyka.

On a trivial note, couldn't the costume department rustle up some shoe lifts or a higher Louis heel for Kwiecien. He seems to be a head shorter than the main female performers.

DeeXiuM Happens to the best, he was still fresh after a surgery during that performance, you gotta forgive him (if you check out this Don Giovanni on the Met's website though... there is no crack in there - magic :p)
DeeXiuM guys it's something wrong with the video. I don't remember that happening in the recording on the official Metopera website.
I checked and it IS just something in the video, in fact there was no voice crack in the performance.
