Another great piece of Rock history tied to this address has come to my attention via my good friend Terry. On the night of May 3, 1969, At about 1:00am Terry was leaving the Night Owl to turn in for the night (Terry rented the apartment on the top floor) , just as he was about to exit the building a group of people came in that Terry recognized. One of the people in that group was Jimi Hendrix, the other, Mitch Mitchell. They must have just left MLG, as they played there that night, and headed to Yorkville for some fun. They asked if anybody would lend them some instruments so they could play on the Night Owl stage. They found some instruments and played to a small crowd for a few hours. Jimi played bass according to Terry. True story!!!
I lived at the top floor 1967-68.Our manager Harry Feingold owned The night owl and the band I played guitar for, The Evil, played there regularly.Great memories from a great era. Thanks for the post. Love it
Funny I was watching this and thinking that it looked like Avenue Road where not long ago I spent my one night ever in Toronto... when the address came up...viva Neil
My friend, Dolores, managed the Night Owl for Harry. I hung out there. Hi, Bruce!! I remember Everyday People and the Stitch in Tyme too. I worked at the Flick. Good times!!
@kingalow1 no, cuz there was still tons of bands back then as now. It was all about knowing the right people, or being in the right place at the right time.
I played with The Stix N Stones in 1965 / The Rotten Kids 66 //Harry Feingold managed us also. We rocked & packed the place....Great times & R&R memories. To all who posted & remembered being there I take my hat off to you. gordonlinda@shaw.ca Victoria BC
Very interesting looking at this video. My dad was in a band called "The Evil" and they moved in to the top floor of that building for 2 years, 1967 and 1968. Does anyone remember this band? My dad was the guitar player, Terry Walsh.
He's donated a great deal of money, including funding a school for autistic children, in whom he took a personal interest. He is also employing quite a few people. When he does charitable works, he doesn't have a publicity agent to let everyone know.
@ he’s al leftist. Communist, but yet he keeps making money off his music. He recently got pissed off at Trump and took his music off . Then he realized he wasn’t making money anymore. He’s a phoney like John Lennon . Preaching to poor people while enriching himself. He also made money off the 4 students killed in Ohio protesting the Vietnam war. I lost all respect for him. He has great talent but a total phoney from Hollywood ☹️

"Cars Hiss By My Window..."
That is Avenue Road......
They should have a rock and roll tour like this in Winnipeg
Talk about destiny calling
Neil had a lot of guts to do what he did...
But wouldn't it have been easier to get noticed back in those days - if you had talent & ability?
Neil knew a thing or two about a thing or two!
Now he’s a total leftist who preaches to regular working people about how money isn’t everything. Donate it Neal!
