  • MIG-29 - The Overview Effect
    Sitting in a backseat of the MIG-29, hard fixed on the ejection seat and curious what all will happen to you. The pilot will take you to an altitude of 12,000 meters, then he will ignite the afterburners and will shoot you up to high altitude.
    You realise the planet Earth, and you will have your personal overview effect. The view is a spectacle, you don't know where to look first.
    Starting at 12,000 meters und short below Mach 1,0 this video will give you an expression out of the point of view of a backseat of the MIG-29 Fulcrum, what we are using now for several years for flying civilians to get them close with space, and let them feel the g-forces.
    Enjoy the ride in Full HD!
    The flights from Sokol with the MIG-29 stopped in September 2017.

    Flying in high altutide and practice some aerobatics, this will give you heebie-jeebies! Additionally you will have your very special own MIG-29 overview effect.
    You have problems to decide where to look first, outside or to the instruments? No stress, all of the views will be recorded by our camera systems so that you won't miss anything! Including the flight data as speed, Mach, altitude and g-forces!
    This is the point of iew from a backseater starting at 12,000 meters altitude and short before crossing the soundbarrier at Mach 1,0.
    Enjoy the ride in Full HD!

    That was spectacular! Thanks for taking the time to record it and show it to us. Greetings from Arizona.

      Thema inproblem Thanks for joining us, and do not forget to look to the other angle cam footages what we uploaded in the last days on our channel.

    Your own overview effect.
    Flying with Mach 1,7 means flying with 2,080 km/h. We bet you weren't flying faster in your life before you will not board our MIG-29UB "Fulcrum". Flying fast, flying high. And later on, you will learn what gravity means in real.

    is the speed on the camera the airspeed or absolute speed? I cant imagine that you can fly with 620km/h absolute speed at that altitude, cuz there your air speed would be 290km/h or so

    • @Space-Affairs
      @Space-Affairs  8 лет назад

      +florianweiss007 Speed measured by GPS. What is for interest is the Mach number. This is the real air speed.

    • @roteroktober360
      @roteroktober360 8 лет назад

      +SPACE AFFAIRS yes, but Mach speed gets less, the higher you get, at least, by a small amount

    • @Space-Affairs
      @Space-Affairs  8 лет назад

      +florianweiss007 Mach speed increases during the flight, then it get less after Mach 1,7 because air is really thin and the max speed is reached because of altitude. You see the max speed of this flight is Mach 1,7, and reduces then shortly before decending to lower altitudes. The altitude of the day can't be predicted, it is to see in relationship of all facts of the day like weather season, temperatures on lower, mid and higher altitudes, huminity, total take off weight of the plane etc. So in higher altitude, the Mach number is the right one and the fact. Aslower the plane is flying and reaching subsonic speed, as more real geht the ground speed digits. Depends on that, other flights will go higher (up to 72,000 feet) and sometimes reaching Mach 2.0. But, depends on situation of the day. Next new flights coming up with beginning of next week, let's see the numbers than in the new videos.

      +SPACE AFFAIRS thanks, but I cant imagine anything with Mach (Mach ist always the same airspeed, it is a bit lower on high altitudes,, it would be cool if you could show the absolute speed (GPS) and airspeed.

      +florianweiss007 We are happy for our clients to have this data available by demand, more is not possible because of technical specifications and safety issues. This is a special kind of jet, and we can't put more electronic devices in as what we do sometimes. Most people don't understand what does it mean to arrange such fligts for the public.

    why no nighttime flights?

      @Space-Affairs  9 лет назад

      lithium2370 Would not make any sense, because you would see nothing. We have sunset and sunrise flight available.

      ***** Would see a zero light pollution night sky =). When Chris hadfield was a fighter pilot he would go to similar altitudes at night and he said it looked very much like in the space station.. seeing the milky way and what-not.. ever since he said that i have been trying to find gopro footage of a fighter pilot doing that.

      It could be an awesome flight, in deed. But when you sit first time in such a jet and you are conquer the sky, you don't know first where to look to. Flying at night also means some additonal dangers, and we do not want to stress participants and pilot to much. But Chris Hadfield is right, it is like a spaceflight.

    Why don't you use Mig-25 ? It's faster and it can fly higher. :/

      And another, do always fly at fl550 or it may vary ?

      +Glider FS Look into our channel. You will find MIG-25 videos in here. We flown up to 2006 with the Foxbat, then the program was closed. Highest altitude what I'm personally reached was 92,250 feet. High enough? ;)

    • @Space-Affairs
      @Space-Affairs  8 лет назад

      +Glider FS Depends on year season, air temperature below the stratosphere, weight etc. we fly sometimes up to FL720.

      But i still dont understand exactly why. Because in winter, air density is better ?
