To me, mark Hamil as Wolverine is OK. I'll give him credit he does make the role his own, but I would've liked it if his voice was a bit rough sense. That's why I always hear when it comes to Wolverine
I think this game's difficulty is due to it trying to be almost like a survival horror game in the superhero setting. You literally play so your character could survive, and there are many locations in the game that are very horror-like, music and what not.
There was only one or two sections that felt were somewhat horror in the game … The game was not horror at all. The first “horror” section was in the genetics area in the beginning when you fight those creepy ass monsters but you can’t do stealth. The second probably the one with the soldiers where you can’t let them see you otherwise game over. That’s it.

I played this recently it was super fun, and it wasn't that hard once you figured out the hidden combat stuff in manuel and realized that sometimes you don't want to use claws, other than that, the stealth being mostly optional but SUCH a safer and smarter option was a nice touch, the feral senses and only healing with sheathed claws were cool additions and just made the game fun, I was constantly saying "I hope this, is in the new wolverine game" overall good game in my opinion doing some interesting stuff...really makes you feel like wolverine
Oh nice! I think you had a slightly better experience than I did with X2 lol. But I agree that there are elements I'd like to see utilized in Insomniacs Wolverine. Namely the stealth and control over his senses and claws
@alwaysnerdyretros understandable, I'm gonna watch the rest of your video later and see what you think but if you haven't five the Manuel a read and play again trying out the moves in there there's a lot of stuff the game doesn't tell you like the jump attack for magneto and stuff, and those kill animations are sick and do more damage depending on what level you use so your encouraged to group enemies and use the higher level ones

1:26:46 My assumption based on this is that originally as the pilot her and Wolverine would have fought together during that level taking enemies out until progressing. So that dialogue of her fighting alongside wolverine could have been during that level while her boss was later. OR maybe she has a fight with Logan, but then ends up assisting him before the fight with magneto to take out the bigger threat. Only to still betray us to deathstrike after feigning an alliance.
2 questions, one serious, the other less so: 1: I would swear there was an X2 tie-in game that featured a playable Nightcrawler and Iceman on top of Wolverine and I THOUGHT it was this game, did I imagine this game? 2: you think when Mea Deuce got her cyborg body she told them "when you give me my cyborg body, make sure my ass and tits are banging!"
Sabretooth was a big motivator for me to put the controller down as a kid. He scared me too much lol. Even playing it as an adult he's still super creepy!
@@alwaysnerdyretros I understand characters like sabertooth, are really scary but glad you mentioned him I think in xmen origins wolverine sabertooth was really scary.
@@alwaysnerdyretrosSabertooth has always been a scary/creepy dude. What Sabertooth did to Wolverine as a “birthday gift” in the comics recently was absolutely disgusting and horrifying.
I remember when I played this as a kid I somehow missed the tutorial saying how to activate the enhanced senses mode at the minefield in the first level, so I spent a significant portion of my time in this game trial and erroring my way through the mines, having to restart to the beginning of the level each time I died. I eventually managed to get through it.. but then I died at that next boss fight and had to restart the level again, which upset me enough that I got rid of the game rather than suffer through the minefield again lol
I plan to! I know I'm lacking on the DC side of content, so it and some of the pre-arkham Batman games are ones I'd like to return to. Maybe even some superman, but that'll probably be something I look at more in 2025
hot damn the animators that worked on this game are amazing the lip sync looks damn good compared to other games of the time i can remember spidey is so goofy in the way he is animated i love him lol i remember the stories of "if you do a certain action or a cheatcode you could play as spider-man" i totally did not try to play as spidey back then i was not that gullible (i was)
I had this on GameCube. The book from this game was how I first found out about Wolverines real name (James Howlett) my only disappointment back then was that there was a button that let you retract the claws, but you did the same damage either way
I love this game. I remember I couldn’t get past the wendigo so I used to cheat code to unlock all levels but I defo missed some story expedition at the end of levels. Also took me years to beat deathstike
I did the same when it first released. I used level select to fight the later bosses, got whooped by them, gave up, and returned my rented copy back to Blockbuster lol
Excellent review, as always! I had this game as a kid. I never finished it, though not due to difficulty. At some point I kinda forgot about it and moved on to playing something else instead (not sure what, maybe X-Men Legends?) but I never found the game *that* difficult, irritating at points for sure but not difficult.
Irritating is another good way to describe it. I think it's the irritating aspects that make it feel difficult at times. Once you have things figured out, it can actually be a pretty quick game. I don't blame you for hopping over to x-men legends either. That game is awesome!
I think Mark does a decent job as wolverine, and he's a real passionate fan of the media and medium. Idk if I'd cast him in the role over others I like a lot but he's not a bad pick one bit.
For some reason your game was glitching out on the electric rod portion of the Deathstrike fight. You're supposed to visually be able to see the direction the lightning goes in when you hit the rod, which helps to tell you where you're supposed to be aiming. For some reason it's completely invisible in your gameplay, not allowing you to quickly know what you're supposed to do
I remember playing this as a kid. I had a pirated pc version with bad translation and cut out cutscenes, which I bought btw (believe it or not, pirated games were sold in eastern europe back then). It took me WEEKS just to beat the first boss, Sabertooth, since I couldn't figure out what I needed to do and how, because of nonsense controls translation. And don't get me started on Wendigo. That shit gave me ptsd. Loved the game tho.

OR maybe she has a fight with Logan, but then ends up assisting him before the fight with magneto to take out the bigger threat. Only to still betray us to deathstrike after feigning an alliance.
2 questions, one serious, the other less so:
1: I would swear there was an X2 tie-in game that featured a playable Nightcrawler and Iceman on top of Wolverine and I THOUGHT it was this game, did I imagine this game?
2: you think when Mea Deuce got her cyborg body she told them "when you give me my cyborg body, make sure my ass and tits are banging!"
1. You’re thinking of the game for X3
2. Absolutely
Babe wake up, Always Nerdy just dropped another banger
I think this game scared me a lot as a child, but I enjoy the gba version but for me this review is great.
@@demon_warrior870 Yeah he’s pretty scary in general, so both games did him justice on that front!
@@alwaysnerdyretros your right
@@alwaysnerdyretrosSabertooth has always been a scary/creepy dude.
I eventually managed to get through it.. but then I died at that next boss fight and had to restart the level again, which upset me enough that I got rid of the game rather than suffer through the minefield again lol
lol yeah that’s a really rough start to the game. You didn’t really even get to play it
@@alwaysnerdyretros yeah lol. It's nice to see more of what it's about now though haha!
Your channel is a gem
Thank you so much!!!
The gaming retrospective goat is back!
I hope you will review Justice League Heroes one day
I plan to! I know I'm lacking on the DC side of content, so it and some of the pre-arkham Batman games are ones I'd like to return to. Maybe even some superman, but that'll probably be something I look at more in 2025
Even just wondering around the Weapon X facility was terrifying as a boy
hot damn the animators that worked on this game are amazing the lip sync looks damn good compared to other games of the time i can remember
spidey is so goofy in the way he is animated i love him lol
i remember the stories of "if you do a certain action or a cheatcode you could play as spider-man" i totally did not try to play as spidey back then i was not that gullible
(i was)
It’s ok, I fell for the “if you 100% Spider-Man 2 ps2 you can play as Venom” 😔
Always excited for your videos :D
Thank you for checking them out!!!
I had this on GameCube. The book from this game was how I first found out about Wolverines real name (James Howlett) my only disappointment back then was that there was a button that let you retract the claws, but you did the same damage either way
I imagine the unusrd Professor X lines about your performance were meant to be used during the checkpoints. Sort of a ranking/hint system, perhaps?
I love this game. I remember I couldn’t get past the wendigo so I used to cheat code to unlock all levels but I defo missed some story expedition at the end of levels.
Also took me years to beat deathstike
I did the same when it first released. I used level select to fight the later bosses, got whooped by them, gave up, and returned my rented copy back to Blockbuster lol
Welcome back King 👑
Excellent review, as always!
I had this game as a kid. I never finished it, though not due to difficulty. At some point I kinda forgot about it and moved on to playing something else instead (not sure what, maybe X-Men Legends?) but I never found the game *that* difficult, irritating at points for sure but not difficult.
Irritating is another good way to describe it. I think it's the irritating aspects that make it feel difficult at times. Once you have things figured out, it can actually be a pretty quick game. I don't blame you for hopping over to x-men legends either. That game is awesome!
I remember renting this from blockbuster…I’m old damn 😔
Same 😔
Today is a good day!
I was never able to beat this game without the cheats on. It was just too hard and cryptic, like that Magneto fight? What the fuck!
I think Mark does a decent job as wolverine, and he's a real passionate fan of the media and medium. Idk if I'd cast him in the role over others I like a lot but he's not a bad pick one bit.
Colossus sounded like nightcrawler from xmen legends or ultimate alliance 1
Let's go!! Love your videos!!
Professor X sorta looks like comic Cassandra Nova.
BABE WAKE UP 🗣️🗣️ NEW ALWAYS NERDY JUSS DROPPED 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🙌🏿
I beat this game no problem as a kid. Now at age 26 I can't beat it 😂
BABY WAKE UP ALWAYS NERDY JUST POST ‼️‼️🗣️🗣️🔥‼️‼️🗣️🗣️🔥‼️‼️🗣️🗣️🔥🤯🤯🤯🤯
Thank you for this video! 😊❤
Thanks for watching!
For some reason your game was glitching out on the electric rod portion of the Deathstrike fight. You're supposed to visually be able to see the direction the lightning goes in when you hit the rod, which helps to tell you where you're supposed to be aiming. For some reason it's completely invisible in your gameplay, not allowing you to quickly know what you're supposed to do
The G.O.A.T is back
Christ spider-man was tweaking in that cutscene
TWO DAYS?!?!?! thats my birthday
😂
I remember playing this as a kid. I had a pirated pc version with bad translation and cut out cutscenes, which I bought btw (believe it or not, pirated games were sold in eastern europe back then). It took me WEEKS just to beat the first boss, Sabertooth, since I couldn't figure out what I needed to do and how, because of nonsense controls translation. And don't get me started on Wendigo. That shit gave me ptsd. Loved the game tho.
Another masterpiece thanks
Thank you for watching!
WOW🔥 I NOT EXPECT THIS😦
Please consider Matrix the Path of Neo!
Great vid
I've been waiting for so long
