I used the same method on my Ranger bass boat, saved money, and time..the marine shop wanted $2000.00 to install. I did it all for $100 bucks Thanks for the idea.
Damn , Im glad I came across this. I just got my livescope and want to mount with my hummingbird as well, same setup only mine is a 126. Im going to be going off this video thanks for the idea. Looks great and so not over priced just a little bit of elbow grease
Yeah. In an effort to be as detailed as possible it seems a bit long, but as simple as this design is I’m hoping everyone can pick up the small specifics that make it work.
Just found your video on this diy mtn mount. Very cool the way you came up with this. My question is, I just purchased the ultrex, and I have to 93 echomap Garmin One -Plus and 1 HD,. I have the HD on the bow in the GT 56 that came with it mounted to the bottom of the ultrex transducer. it appears you have roughly the same setup. I was wondering what you prefer. I also have the panoptix. I'm curious how you use your helix, I'm wanting to use it so I can have it work simultaneously with my i-pilot so do you run a transducer for the helix, and if so how did you mount it with the Garmin transducer mounted to the bottom of the other transducer. I hope this makes sense.
The lower transducer that’s on the bottom of the motor is the helix 12 msi transducer. Then the livescope is on the shaft. I only use my Garmin unit for livescope and the Humminbird for imaging, contour maps, and waypoints. I think that’s what you’re asking. If not just correct me.
Well I was thinking aluminum originally for the fabricated top bracket. All the mounts you can buy were steel. At the store the only aluminum that was 2” was 8ft long and $54. The 3ft steel was $19. A bit harder to work with but in the end I was happy with it because it has no flex. It’s heavy duty for sure!
@@HookandNeedle ahhh. Yeah that's a big price difference, and if the graph mounts are steel then it won't matter anyway. I think that self etching primer and engine enamel woulda kept the corrosion away anyway. Like I said I just started so I hadn't watched all the way through lol
I did something similar however I used aluminum angle 3” much lighter and corrosion resistant. 1/4 inch thick. I agree with the mounts out there for what they are, seem to be way over priced.
Do you like the angle the graphs are mounted at? I love the idea, but my only concern/worry is that I'm going to have a glare issue or want to adjust the angle the graphs are at. Was that a problem?

Thanks for the idea.
Yeah buddy! Works awesome and saves a lot of cash for more fishing gear haha
Just this weekend I used this video to build my front mount! 7" and 9" Garmin. Worked awesome thank you the video and tutorial.
Verny nicely done! Thanks for the ideas.
Dude I was just about to order a Str8 up mount you just saved me almost $300!!! So glad I found this video! 🤘🏻
Yeah man. Good luck with it! Just a little work and you got a nice set up. Just don’t forget lock washers and nylon nuts. Mines held up well so far.

Yeah for sure. Even if it’s just a jumping off point to stir up some ideas. Simple enough to save that money.
Absolutely incredible how expensive mounts are. Some are nice for sure but even the shitty ones are way overpriced. Nice job, glad you saved some cake
Absolutely. Gotta save it where you can!
Very cool. I'm looking to do something similar, so I'm really glad you posted this. Thank you!
Awesome to hear! Hope it gives you a good idea for yours. Still loving mine.
That came out pretty f'n awesome. I was wondering where you were going for a minute there but it came together pretty dope

This is perfect. Exactly what I was wanting
It works for sure. Just don’t forget lock washers 👍 good luck!
@@HookandNeedle what exact boat is this? Looks a lot like my ranger rt188
Triton 17TX so very similar
Sweet mount. I made one similar but used a Ram Mount for the base.
I seen your video right after I did mine 😂 seems like it’s helping some people save some money. All about the DIY!
What about a pic. I'm interested

Awesome! Love it!
Excellent video. Thanks.
No problem. Hope it helps get you rigged up!
Thank you for the help, that looks really simple 👏👏🤙
No problem. Worked out great and it’s solid. Good luck!
Awesome video!
Thanks. Hope it helps spark some ideas.
@@HookandNeedle how has that setup been working out for you? Are you still running the same setup or have you made any tweaks or changes?
Still running it. No changes. It’s been solid. Stainless nylon lock nuts and lock washers is the way to go.

Just started watching but I'm already excited.
Just curious, why didn't you get aluminum instead of steel?

That’s great. I’ve built a lot of things from aluminum. I’m sure that will be stable at 1/4”.
Smart idea thank you
Hope it helps. Good luck!
Nice job
Thanks. Couldn’t spend that much on a mount. Gotta save $ to buy more tackle 😂
Awesome

oh looks like you chose that bridge mount for this very reason?
Yeah. It works great. You can tilt them individually on their gimbal mounts.
@@HookandNeedle really? the Garmin looks like it can't go any further with the bracket mounted upside down.
No. It’s not upside down. I guess technically the Helix mount is but they can both swivel either way.
Is this mount still solid after a few fishing trips. Anything you would do differently now after looking back?
It is. It’s a rock. Definitely use washers and lock washers with every bolt and nut. You shouldn’t have any issues.
BEDLINER WOULD HAVE SEALED THE DEAL
Teach me sensei🫡
Almost a year and a half later and solid as a rock 💪 gotta save that money where you can 😂
What about a pic. I'm interested
Sorry. Wrong spot.
Well done
Thank you.
