  • In this video I will show you how to mount dual graphs with a budget DIY hack that will save you $100s of dollars and it's solid as can be. A budget friendly dual graph mount bracket was the goal seeing how most fish finder brackets and mounts are pretty pricey. This how-to step by step video of how I built mine for around $80 total. Saving a lot of money and something you could do in a day. I try to break it down as much as possible but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comments. Hope this helps someone looking for a bow mount solution for a dual graph application.

    I used the same method on my Ranger bass boat, saved money, and time..the marine shop wanted $2000.00 to install. I did it all for $100 bucks
    Thanks for the idea.

      Yeah. In an effort to be as detailed as possible it seems a bit long, but as simple as this design is I’m hoping everyone can pick up the small specifics that make it work.

    I did something similar however I used aluminum angle 3” much lighter and corrosion resistant. 1/4 inch thick. I agree with the mounts out there for what they are, seem to be way over priced.

    • @HookandNeedle
      @HookandNeedle  8 месяцев назад

      That’s great. I’ve built a lot of things from aluminum. I’m sure that will be stable at 1/4”.

    Just started watching but I'm already excited.
    Just curious, why didn't you get aluminum instead of steel?

    • @HookandNeedle
      @HookandNeedle  2 года назад

      Well I was thinking aluminum originally for the fabricated top bracket. All the mounts you can buy were steel. At the store the only aluminum that was 2” was 8ft long and $54. The 3ft steel was $19. A bit harder to work with but in the end I was happy with it because it has no flex. It’s heavy duty for sure!

    • @benhightowerv
      @benhightowerv 2 года назад +1

      @@HookandNeedle ahhh. Yeah that's a big price difference, and if the graph mounts are steel then it won't matter anyway. I think that self etching primer and engine enamel woulda kept the corrosion away anyway.
      Like I said I just started so I hadn't watched all the way through lol

    Just found your video on this diy mtn mount. Very cool the way you came up with this. My question is, I just purchased the ultrex, and I have to 93 echomap Garmin One -Plus and 1 HD,. I have the HD on the bow in the GT 56 that came with it mounted to the bottom of the ultrex transducer. it appears you have roughly the same setup. I was wondering what you prefer. I also have the panoptix. I'm curious how you use your helix, I'm wanting to use it so I can have it work simultaneously with my i-pilot so do you run a transducer for the helix, and if so how did you mount it with the Garmin transducer mounted to the bottom of the other transducer. I hope this makes sense.

    • @HookandNeedle
      @HookandNeedle  Год назад

      The lower transducer that’s on the bottom of the motor is the helix 12 msi transducer. Then the livescope is on the shaft. I only use my Garmin unit for livescope and the Humminbird for imaging, contour maps, and waypoints. I think that’s what you’re asking. If not just correct me.

    Is this mount still solid after a few fishing trips. Anything you would do differently now after looking back?

    • @HookandNeedle
      @HookandNeedle  Год назад

      It is. It’s a rock. Definitely use washers and lock washers with every bolt and nut. You shouldn’t have any issues.

  • @byADK
    @byADK Год назад +1

    Do you like the angle the graphs are mounted at? I love the idea, but my only concern/worry is that I'm going to have a glare issue or want to adjust the angle the graphs are at. Was that a problem?
