Hey, glad to see someone is still streaming ES 2 games :) Vaulters are my favorite faction :) How do you take some advise/critique? :)
I see you only play impossible and normal pirates, so I am not going to be too harsh :D (I play endless diff & endless pirates)
But you could have totally get that first craver outpost. First, have scouts have at least some gun so they are able to attack civilian ships and block systems effectively,
if you blockaded the outpost you would have starved them out and then you could colonize, you can't drop a colony with Argosy if there's an enemy outpost in the system, have to get rid of it first.
Also your opening moves could be better, you didn't scout with argosy at all. She's super fast and has great vision range, if you take first 5 turns scouting, you can identify potentially better planets to settle & your golden age lasts 15 turns instead of six that you had.
So what you could have done is in those 5 turns find the cravers and settle right next to them on either Pictor or Matarca. Colonizing a unique planet gets you usually a TON of influence early, and that titanium would be super useful once pirates spawn (you can get non aggression as Vaulters with them for influence)
You want to unlock the first system development asap, pluck in titanium and then research small ships and medium ships asap.
And just put pressure on the Cravers, build few small attack ships, and starve them out and take them while they don't have their insane fleets.
Then once you get medium attackers, take them out. Park ships all around them and block their exits, don't let them settle.
If you start so close to somebody, you need to take them out/cripple them especially Cravers, since they will destroy all the planets over time.
But don't be afraid to just explore the rest of the galaxy, and settle anything intersting as Vaulters. Like Auriga for example.

I am always open to critique, especially because I very rarely play Vaulters. Having a weapon on the scouts is technically a no-brainer and i think i only didn't because i thought it to be great to scout with lots of probes & speed. I can see that being a mistake. Scouting ahead with the argosy does seem like the right move. Dust is no problem for that approach? The argosy still costs upkeep afaik. Going for a unique planet system would definitely have been a smart move, especially with the access to Titanium. The lack of Titanium was a severe drawback in the early game.

I like the Vaulters the most because that Portal has saved so many damned sectors from being conquered over time. The story is pretty decent also.

    Such a bad-unlucky start, I think I would've just restarted lol.

"not gonna lie " :) BTW = I wonder how good are Vaulters' ships vs the Cravers ones :) We will see it soon I assume!

Cravers' ships are slightly above average, as are the Vaulters from a slot perspective. The Cravers usually just have way way bigger fleets than anybody else due to their faction bonus towards it. Their first proper attack force is usually in the 20 CP compromised of small attack ships with missiles or lasers.
This is one of the decisions why i go directly for medium sized ships, because that means i can take more of a beating from them. Through defenders' damage output might also become a bit problematic. If I can pull it off to just take over the ships, it is going to be alright.

@@zlorfik2428 No worries. After Vaulters series - Nakalim gameplay?

    • @zlorfik2428
      @zlorfik2428  3 года назад +1

@@aleksandergumos8508 I don't know yet. For this series it was a decision between Riftborn, Vaulters and Cravers. It depends a bit on who we'll see as particularly strong or weak opponents and my mood when starting a new playthrough xD So for now, I'd say Cravers are probably in the lead.
That said, I also want to mix in factions that I don't particularly like between factions I do like. And I am running out of factions I like so who knows. I will definitely take up Nakalim into my selection to choose from for the next series.
