Night and Day photography at the Alvord Desert, Oregon

We visit one of our favorite spots in Oregon, the Alvord Desert. This time was a bit challenging: this is usually a great place for night photography, being far away from civilization, but cloudy skies forced me to improvise with lights; later that night, the wind got so strong that didn't let me sleep, but the upside was that it created beautiful scenes the following morning.

I have had the Alvord on my "big trip" list for years and will hopefully get to it soon. I've been up through Hart Mountain to Steens once about 12 years ago, and have planned to return ever since. That entire area is so amazing, so vast, and alone, and wild. Have you ever made it up to the top of Steens? Very rugged terrain and only open for a part of each year. But seems like your kind of landscape. Cheers.
