Hi All, thanks a lot for the constructive comments. Following the general consensus I started looking for someone else to record the briefings. That's when I was approached by someone who actually served several tours on aircraft carriers, and he kindly offered to help. The new briefings are in the making, they're going to be as authentic as it gets ;)
Is this campaign available yet? I can't find it anywhere. I fly single player so even though I have basically all of the modules, there's very little in the way of realistic single player content. This campaign looks decent though.
Fear The Bones! by Reflected Simulations, a campaign for Heatblur's F-14a Tomcat and ED's DCS Supercarrier. Available for purchase some time later this year with the release of the F-14a Tomcat. Playable in Co-op with a Rio or singleplayer. Best estimate for release of the F-14a model is Aug-September at this time, but of course this is highly subject to change. @@cornelius2993 Yes, the pitch of his voice goes way up on the word 'collided', it's quite hard not to laugh a bit... there are other things too, like a micro-second of a pause between "sending up" and "our first patrol" (which also has an unnatural rise in pitch), and the "dismissed" at the end sounded like he was almost too embarrassed to say it, definitely not like a real officer :-D In general it just seems a bit unnatural/amateurish compared to the rest of the voiceovers, which generally sound great and like the real things. There's also the fact he sounds like he's talking to himself inside a broom closet. The echo is a bit weird, in my opinion probably better without it. Sorry if this seems too critical! I used to teach English to foreigners, including tone of speech and all that... haha.

This looks like fun I can't wait. The tomcat is my main bird it's the only module I can navigate, ata refuel, land, takeoff and cold start. I just need to find a human Rio that would join me. I have even offered to buy the module for my close friends but no takers.
Funny, the 14 is the only bird I just cant get into flying. I'd probably be down to get into RIO one day if I find a pilot that doesnt keep flaking out on me... (*cough* if you're reading this Mack...) Hell I'm gonna have to cos this campaign looks fun.
I'm in a similar boat. I have a friend who flys DCS a bit, but he comes from Ace Combat, so talking him into sitting in the back is basically impossible. And I'm finding it hard to get started as a RIO because (understandably) nobody really wants some yahoo in the back seat who has no idea what he's doing!
I'd have taken that offer right away, what's wrong with your friends? :P I haven't baught the F14 for that reason. I'd also have no one to be my RIO or pilot.. ;(
for a Free Tomcat, you can call me RIO or whatever you want man :) Jokes aside though, If I was anywhere near your timezone I'd happily join you(I'm an Aussie), I own the F-18, F-16, Viggen and Supercarrier modules, but don't really have anyone to fly with. I feel your pain mate.
Last September, when I started working on this campaign I just went through real USN crusier names and liked this one the best. Well before I read Kevin Miller's book - a coincidence.
Thank you, I am looking forward to an official DLC for the Tomcat as the current one isn’t my favorite. It is also interesting that Reflected who is known for making Hunters over the Yalu and the amazing 1981 gulf of Sidra incident mission will be making this campaign. While I thought this would be a more historical campaign, I am still excited for the possibility of another F-14A Campaign. This will be a campaign I’ll be awaiting 😀
Which callsigns do you mean? Unfortunately flight callsigns are hard coded into DCS, that's why I had to choose Pontiac. As for the crew callsigns, I picked them from a list of actual, real life call signs. You'd be surprised what else was there ;)
@@ReflectedSimulations well i stand corrected, i do mean the pilots and RIO callsigns, i understand callsigns especially in the navy to be more playful and less serious if you know what i mean?
@@baxticus2925 Yeah, I'm absolutely with you. The other pilots in the squadron will have more playful callsigns, and you'll see that even these are not as serious as they first sound. In one of the missions you'll hear some anectotes about what's behind them :)
@@hellcat611 I've got a lot of feedback saying the briefing voice over is not very good, so I'll find a different voice actor to do it. The rest will stay :)
@@ReflectedSimulations Yea. The delivery of the briefing/1MC voice killed the immersion. There are some really good videos of actual carrier airbosses on the 1MC briefing and giving direction. 911s73targa There was no USSR in 93 you know, and it would mean I’d have to completely rewrite the entire storyline, starting a year’s work from scratch basically. I will not do that. Isn't the Valley Forge also the name of the carrier from the F18 Raven missions?

I can hardly wait. I need to get much better at air refueling!
RedKite, any reason you don't trim out the drag of the refueling probe?
Doesn't really matter that much to me, it's easy enough to manage the minor asymmetry, being in a turn you hardly even notice it.
