Cause he didn’t actually play it. They may know how to play it and go thru the motions without guitar plugged in l. But the sound playing thru speakers isn’t coming from his playing, u can tell cause it sounds to perfect, even if eddy himself played it live it wouldn’t sound so thick and perfect like it does in this video. Sadly it’s like this all thru out RUclips covers. Not saying he’s not correct on how he’s playing it but no one playing it live would sound that good.
@@larrmad7919 no it's not, I lined up the video with the original recording from Fair Warning and it's identical, Plus at the end of his video you can hear the same post-production plate reverb that was added as that harmonic fades out. Also, you can tell how different his guitar sounds when he's actually playing the Mean Street riff than it does from the intro. He overdubbed Eddie Van Halen's original recording over the video to make everyone think he can play it exactly like him. Now I'm not saying he can't play it because obviously there's other videos of him doing it live, but it doesn't sound exactly like Eddie Van Halen's recording the way this does. Believe what you want but that's the truth. I've been involved in video and music recording and editing since the 80s, so I know what I'm talking about.

Also, the studio version has an Eventide Harmonizer on it while Jacob’s recording doesn’t. In Jacob’s recording you can hear his pick attack very clearly while on the record you can’t. Sorry about writing this whole essay to get my point across, but Jacob is just THAT good!

Well done " I couldn't imagine the feeling of dropping the needle on this brand new vinyl album, in 1981, and hear that for the first time... " I can and it was glorious. Oddly enough for as much as I absolutely love this song, it was the intro to Hear About It Later that really grabbed me and my buddy.
They should have J DERAPS on call in case Satriani can’t do a gig. Then if he subs they will definitely fire Joe because, DERAPS is the rightful heir to the EVH throne. No one can play the Van Halen like this kid.

Dude you are killing it. I have watched a number of really good covers of EVH and truthfully there are a few that get close. Your tone and feel for the songs really are the best IMO on utube. Keep up the great work. Until Alex VHalen gets a bunch of guys together to give tribute to the King we will have to make due. It may never happen.

We all love Joe but if folks want to hear Ed, you're the closest that I know of to recreate the timeless classics. I have a challenge for you. Try to replicate the Dirty Movies intro.
