Wow.... just wow! What an interview! There's a lot of reasons Marc is successful, and I am sure his openness, pleasant attitude (as well as extreme ability and work ethic) and willingness to share info is a huge portion of his success.

Great interview with Marc. So cool seeing his set up and getting a sense for how he thinks. Also I couldn't agree more with him at the end. It may sound sill, but RSI is a very real thing in this field. Stretch lots, take breaks, and listen to your doctor.

Much like many others here in the comments, I was more than delighted to get to know Marc a little bit more through your video. He's been always so helpful on the forums like liftgammagain and a lot of his knowledge and tips went into my early days of starting as a colorist in Resolve. That is not to say that I did not get tons of great advice from you over the last few months or years (if you count the killer tips for resolve). It is very much appreciated what you are doing here on this channel and I always love the stories "from the trenches" of professionals working on high level projects. Each little interview feels like a free master class. I hope we'll get a few more great videos out of your trip to NAB :)

This is soooo good. Man, your editing is really on point at the top of this one.
And then to top it off, visiting my heroes in Hollywood.
How can I book that tour?
Walter and Marc are both great people. I kind of started helping people in the facebook forums as "Paying it Forward" to both of those guys both of which helped me with questions years ago.
Imagine, If we looked back as young musicians, and were able to have questions answered by Rock Stars back in the day?
What a surprise last night. I get to see three of the people I deeply respect in Post, have conversations - how can it get any better than that?
Well, it floored me that you mentioned my name, what a cool surprise.
I have heard so much about Marcs studio and there it is.
So much cool in one room.
Thanks so much for all you guys do.
Looking forward to seeing all the Vegas stuff. Cheers Darren.

Ah Jim, good to catch you this morning on Cullen’s Grade school too. I’m having a great time, albeit long edit sessions. was quite anxious about vlogging but it seems people are enjoying it so I’ll give it another few and see how it goes! Mentioned you in Marcs interview because you do such a sterling job supporting up and coming colourists (and established ones for that matter!!). I’m at LAX now waiting to get to NAB. Had a great night with Cullen last night who very kindly let me stay at his house and met his beautiful wife and daughter (and a particularly fluffy dog!). Stay well my friend.

Thoroughly enjoyed the interview and a true professional's perspective of color grading. I did pick up one little useful tidbit that I followed up on and it was the MediaLight desk lamp - I already had their bias lighting but really did not appreciate those the importance of those little lights for my workspace. BTW - they are currently on sale $10 off with free shipping. Again thanks for your insights and let the videos continue.

Marc is a super forum contributor and we are lucky to have him there. Watching this episode (and not knowing all that much about Marc's professional background), I now have a heightened respect for his contributions to the BMD forum (not the least of which because I'm not sure where he finds the time to contribute to the extent that he does). Thanks so much for posting this. Cheers.

'I could do 20 videos on that' - Please do! (Well... maybe not 20.) I think it would be extremely helpful to a lot of people to talk about "what is good enough, and what are the tradeoffs?" for doing lower budget/lower stakes work. It absolutely makes sense when you are working hours a day, for years, and affecting the final image audiences will see on multi-million dollar projects to spend tens of thousands on consoles, computers and displays. But there is that entire world of work where those budgets aren't appropriate, and informed compromises have to be made.
Also, it turns out you're a pretty decent vlogger!

Hi folks, one explanation for driving on the left is that it makes the best use of one's sword arm to clobber the knave coming the other way. Those Europeans were presumably more into clobbering knights with a lance. I suspect the American style has more to do with wagons and stage coaches meeting each other. Or maybe using a Winchester rifle. If you do know, please comment!
