@@Erich_U Maradona like season?? Really?? Maradona was never that consistent throughout the season But definitely one of my favs . When he was in mood then you just can't do anything. Messi, Maradona, Cryuff, Nazario on their day are just unplayable
I hope one day I will be sitting watching a barcelona match of 2010s with my grand children and sharing my love for him. I know the passion will never drop neither the magic even after watching it a hundred times. Messi really is Immortal.
Tremendous insights and commentaries. So many nuggets of cool information. That Xavi's response "because he's the best header on the team" just blows me away. Guardiola's insistence on letting Messi go play in the Olympics for Argentina was cool and shows his understanding of human nature and not treating his players like machines.
8 balon d or 6 golden boot 46 trophies This alone ends any debate But these stats doesn’t even tell you half the quality that messi brings to the field Madness!
Coming home in the evening after kicking ball around with your mates, La liga lowdown on tv, listening to rob and gerry and Kevin Keatings commentating on this genius every week. I was blessed i was there. And i so wish i could back to those days and relive Messi's peak again. It was glorious 🙏🙏
Two pivotal moments: Messi's performances at the 2005 U-20 World Cup and 2 months later in the Gamper Trophy vs.Juventus. After seeing those, I knew what I was watching was something generational and history-defining.
Greatest most complete player of all time. Best season 2018 19 Best achievement wise 2014 15 Best personally- 2009 2012 Best career definition wise 2021- till date 😂😂😂🙏🙏
2021-2024, in my opinion, are the best years of Messi's career and my favorite years in his prime. Because he is older in those years it makes the achievers special, he played with kids in those years than Xavi and Iniesta which was easier for him and in the national team he was bad 2009-2012. he also became a clutch, winner, leader! which he didn't have before. 2021-2024 the best ever🐐⚽️🐐⚽️🐐⚽️
Watching this on the back of him returning to Argentina and putting in a hattrick and 2 assists in WCQ. The greatest player BY FAR I've ever seen. Also I will NEVER forgive Dembele for that miss against Liverpool. During those years it was BY FAR the biggest Messi dependencia. I have never seen 1 human being carry a team so far as what Messi was doing. Especially in the Champions League. Forget Messi coming to practice late. HE was always the one producing. What about the other players stepping up their game like Argentina have been doing knowing that they have the 1 player that makes all the difference game after game for them. Julz talks about the incredible front 3 but failed to mention the 2 biggest reasons why PSG failed. First Neymar barely played due to injury. That outstanding front 3 barely got games together especially during the critical part of the season. 2nd look at where Messi played. At PSG especially he had to drift further and further deep to collect the ball which isnt ideal. Just look at his heat map for any game for PSG. The PSG midfield couldnt connect and then Messi had to drop out of his most dangerous positions to link up play and move the ball forward and create chances. Messi at PSG had the most MOTM awards in Europe as well as breaking assist records. He does what is needed for the team and because PSG couldnt create like Barcelona his goal numbers werent the same.
@grinchoi1 are you somehow suggesting that Messi “carried” a Barcelona team coached by Guardiola that included Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Henry and 8 others? The scandal is he only won 2 champions leagues with that crew. Messi is a great great player, but that narrative is ridiculous
2018/19 Messi was the best for me, a complete player. That Anfield debacle was the most painful night for me as a Messi fan even more than 2014 WC final loss.
As if the Scottish story isn’t wild… at 4:50 I heard…. Why don’t you take iniesta 😂😂 WOW two of the greatest footballers of all time nearly played in Scotland
It's not really about the stats, Haaland might beat those stats. With Messi it was about the goals, dribbling and linkup with teamates, it was magical. That's where the empahasis should be.
Haaland won’t beat him in anything. Messi has almost 900 goals across his career. Haaland would need to score like 50+ goals a season for the next 10-12 seasons straight to catch up.
Haaland won’t beat him in anything. Messi has 870+ goals across his career, meaning Haaland would need to score like 50 goals a season for the next 10 seasons straight to catch up. People need to remember that Messi is a complete anomaly of the sport, and that we’re unlikely to see someone of his kin ever again. He is utterly unique.
Messi was still angry with Barca and Laporta at PSG. He did not want to be there but was forced to be in order to play football. The club PSG was a circus
Thanks ESPN, it felt like going down memory lane for someone who's followed Messi throughout the years. It's been a journey for him filled with loads highs and lows as well. It's amazing how he redefined himself across those years, changed his game and mindset to overcome challenges on and off the pitch to achieve all he did and stay competitive. Tribute to a legend and icon of the game 🙌🏽
I remember watching him during his first two years at Barca. I was and still be a huge fan of King Pelé. But, when I watched Messi for the first time I knew I was watching someone special. After 2 years, I knew he will become an all great. Before him winning the World Cup I had considered him the best ever, and I know I am not the only one. CR7 might be the best footballer, but Messi is a supreme entity. Pele, Maradona, and Cruyff are waiting for him in the Olympus.
I appreciate this so much. Thankyou in particular to Graham for his insight over the years. I really do hope there is a retirement book on the god of the game.
The Barcelona part of this conversation is well done. You guys obviously followed most of the games and had access to the training ground. Very informative. A little note, the PSG part of this video is not well done because there wasn't a person in this panel who actually watched Messi game after game for PSG nor had access to the training ground. Just surface level stat reading and twitter commentary. I don't really know why you guys talked about PSG at all, you left Miami and Argentina out so it should've been just a Barca video. A pity.
I don't think Messi is God, but I do think he was sent from God to glorify His name with football. Every time Messi scores a goal he celebrates Christ.
What if Pep Guardiola stayed at Barcelona like Alex Ferguson did with Man United. Messi would have scored 1500+ goals and won champions league every year.other football clubs would have been irrelevant
And i thought this was a celebration of 20 years, and Mr Hunter, i can remember you commentating and always finding a reason to comment on messi's ineffectiveness and the slight decline in the ability to perform, as far as his dictating or indifference to rules, I guess you could find that in any major star for any team, when your watching the management is buying inferior replacements for good players, your talking about his ego ? Without ego, any player who is at the top of his game wouldn't have reached that level of quality, and it seems to me that the others on the panel if they weren't able to fully say what they want because of the interruptions of Mr Hunter fact checking or reminding the others that what they were trying to say was not quite on the money because he wrote a book, i felt bad for luis when I think he was intending to sort of this show was a celebration of the 20 years, and then have julien Lauren's come on and talk about how Messi not doing enough for PSG and then watch the commentating on the psg videos saying that Messi's having the time of his life having scored 4 goals and 4 assists in the Champions league, but julien saying he didn't do enough, I know you could have a show highlighting all of Messi's faults and the overbearing ego of Messi, but you have started with this show, the (lousy 20 years of lio Messi) I know when I'm down and not in a good place, i turn on Messi's vídeos and they make me happy, and feel better, so have at it, luckily I have the remote.
