In this video, I'm going to review the SJCAM C300 - the latest 4K action camera from SJCAM. I'll discuss what's wrong with the C300 and give you my thoughts on whether it's a good action camera or not.
If you're looking for an affordable 4K action camera, the SJCAM C300 might be a good choice for you. However, I recommend that you don't buy the C300 if you're looking for superb image quality or GoPro Hero 11 like stabilization...

Considering the price, I think this product is not bad. Good low light performance and very big battery pack, the image stabilization is not bad I think.
Low light performance is good because it is not a 4K image sensor ☺️
I own the sj4000 and it's still functional right now. I used to compare it with Xiaomi Yi cam and GoPro Hero but finally decided to go with sj4000 due to its low price and acceptable quality. At that time, it has a display too and yi cam didn't. Now that other China branded action cam (akaso) is doing better than sj. What a pity!
Same i have my sj4000 and its great just needs stabilization. Had it over 7 years now
I still keep one of these as well.
Still have the SJ4000 (early no logo version) with the SooCoo C20 both recently pulled out of storage and charged, they both worked fine. Batteries holding charge. SJ4000 F/W N*2014*0902V01 seems so old now.
Actually. It's good enough for me. I just wanted a small camera that i can strap on my body to record family events so that i don't miss any important memories

Bought the pocket cam version, in case it helps - my opinion as there are not many reviews in english. fyi it does not come with an sd card. My unit came with the latest firmware dated late march 2024.
By default the device configuration seems to be for a dashcam, not an action camera - hence IQ out of the box is terrible with overly aggressive sharpening using all ‘normal’ settings.
Hence to get the most for action video; set 1080p60 or 1440p30 for optimal IQ (1440p60 stutters), sharpness ’soft’, noise reduction ’low’, EV -1.0, WDR on, distortion correction off, codec h265, WB fixed as appropriate e.g. ‘daylight’, bit rate high, other settings ‘normal’.
Then sharpen and perform noise reduction via post processing in your preferred app. IQ is then quite acceptable for the price of $70.
=> Update - 2.7k appears to be the full sensor frame with 4:3 aspect ratio. Comparing 2k and 1080p samples - believe a 1080p 'window' of the full sensor frame is used. i.e. 2k video is simply 1080p upscaled (at least with image stabilisation). The 2k image however appears superior to 1080p due to a higher bit rate (~13mbps v ~9mbps h265 30fps).
Conclude an imx335 sensor
For sure I won't be buying another Sjcam (-j) product any time soon

A 1080p60 depois eu consigo transformar em vertical sem muitas perdas? E a questão do microfone sem fio, vc usa algum? Eu tenho o da sjcam, mas não Eu não consigo desligar o mic interno e acaba captando muito barulho. Uso a câmera para motovlogs.

@@veronicasilva1125 you have no vertical mode 1080/60 fps only 30fps.turn the camera 90⁰ and in post prossesing turn it again.in setting there is audio on/off
How long does it take to charge the 1000 mah battery from 0 to 100%? And how long you can film using the above settings?
I have an SJ5000+ myself, back in those days it cost about 1/3 of a GoPro and did a rather amazing job, no 4K obviously but for the price it worked well. I had great expectations of SJCams but sadly other GoPro knockoffs managed to get better quality and some even are in part with GoPro like the DJI cameras. The only thing I can say is that for close to 100$ you get a rather good product. But if it is faux-4K that is again a deal breaker. I can get me a 1080p action knock-off for like 20$ if I want to.

@@osirusj275 No I wasn't being specific, but there are action camera on ebay and aliexpress that are close to 20$~30$ and even if they advertise 4K it is not correct and they most likely use cheap security camera sensors wrapped in a tiny body. And they are usually 1080p that do 4K with interpolation and their rolling shutter is insanely obvious. These are useless to me.
So if a camera saya 4K it has to be real 4K and if it costs close to 100$ that would be ok.

I wasn’t aware of the Sj Cam drama. It’s a shame because SJ was one of the first affordable GoPro style cameras. It was not, perhaps, as good as the GP, but it wasn’t bad! All that said, the video examples look great ….. to me anyway.

Dude, you only criticized the camera, I have a c100 and a c300 they are excellent especially when you are paying 130 dollars, I found your video advertisement for the Gopro, ok go ahead but be fair.
I think I have shared enough footage and examples to justify these statements. There are a lot of good action cameras that you can buy at this price point. You may want to check the comments below the SJ8 Pro review just in case...

Do you have a link for the SOC and image sensor used in this thing? I can't find anything on it but the specs seem to imply they're using the Navatek NT96683 and Sony IMX117 sensor.
Well - mostl likely you are close to the right answer. SJCAM are reluctant to disclose it.
But this product is relatively inexpensive, and in this price range, this model is really rare and has a certain value for money
It has indeed, but image quality is worse than some 5-year old models...
Got a C200 and one thing for sure: it feels like a little tank as its body is made out of metal, and it's water (rain?) proof without a case. Looks to me that this C300 needs to be used with that 'batterygrip' as on its own it only has a screen pointing in the same direction as the lens; great of course if you're self-absorbed and filming/photographing yourself all the time, but unusable for 'normal' use. Do like the fact that the screen is a touch-screen, as the button-pushing on the C200 is rather annoying. What timelapse settings does the C300 have?
It can record 1, 2 5 and 10 second timelapse.

@ 8:27, the split screen footage looks better in the SJCAM to me. Are you sure you don't have it mislabled?
The label is correct. The SJCAM footage is sharper, this is why it tricks you that it is better. When you zoom in you notice a lot more details with Pocket 2.

No, but it should last fairly long time
fyi @ 1080p 30 I get around 2hrs using h265, lens correction off, sound noise reduction off, soft noise and sharpness, screen low brightness and saver
Hello, if we connect this camera to another internet network via wifi, we can see the camera image from a few kilometers away with a smartphone, or the camera must be near the smartphone.

I found a old camera from 7 years ago the case led buttons battery are the same . As the sj4000 only software is bettet 😂

The included batteries are trash and no one will go on a journey to get more of them. There is lithium-ion AA batteries, as well alkaline.

I think the video color looks a little faded. Something doesn't look right with the video quality.
It is just a basic setup - so image quality is not that great...

Seems like their image quality has been stucked in the 2010s.... I blame the novatek chip which they insist on carry on using.
There are so e well performing NTK SoCs, I think it also is the image sensor to blame.

Another fake 4K cam (2.7K actual sensor size), my 7 year old SJCAM M20 still functions properly. Stabilization worked better than my 7 year old Hero 5. I'm using it as a dashcam now so I might replace my M20 as a dash cam then.. (I already have a standalone dashcam but I like something I can remove)
