I went through Dave Ramsey 7 baby steps and it helped me tremendously I am now debt-free I owe no man. I had 53,000 in hospital debt and because I followed the plan I am now debt free. And all I can say is thank you Lord for people like Dave Ramsey who shares their knowledge on how to manage finances so that other people can Thrive the way they do.

This is simple, just stop spending money you don't have in junk and stop trying to keep up with the Jones, and you will have a saving. The majority of people have a lot of unnecessary stuff to show people they have a lavish style such as a cable bill. I stopped buying junk since 2007 and now save up to 250k plus dollars in my savings account, plus I own my house 🏠.

African American single Mom here. Paid off $204,347.73 in debt in 25 months. Now we are living in the Vision. The Baby Steps worked for me. Being a good steward of money is not black or white. It’s common sense. 🙌🏾

I'm 43, followed the baby steps....did it a little out of order, but I did it. I'm black, I'm debt free 4 years ago, don't owe nobody...mortgage paid off. Did all that with a child and making under 50k. Takes discipline and to not listen to these young tik tokers. I wanted to live like no one else....thanks to Dave...I am! I'm never going in debt again.

The peace of mind that you (we all) get from not having the yoke of debt on our back is a beautiful feeling. I get an overwhelming sense of peace in my life now. I am not rich by the way. I understand people of wealth use debt to generate wealth, but people that DO NOT have wealth pushing agendas is something I avoid like the plague. I found Dave Ramsey 20 years ago. I was 30 (hubby 34) and we had 2 small kids. Now I’m 50 (hubby 54). We’re completely debt free ( mortgage too), retirement and investments look great and those two kids both graduate May of 2024 (son with masters degree/24 and daughter with her undergrad/22) debt free too. We both plan to retire 2027 when the last one goes off to college (yeah we had another one with our old selves😊). Her college is taken care of as well. So yes, that Godly white mans baby steps worked for this black family of 5.

I'm a 51yrs old black man and I first heard of Dave Ramsey in 2004, when my pastor offered the class to our entire church family that wanted to take a proactive approach to financial literary from a biblical perspective. I promise if you practice it with discipline, it will 100% change you and your families live.
I found out about Financial Peace through Church as well.
People get sick of me talking baby steps but don't mind asking me for a loan. Listening to Dave changed my whole mindset, I was making 12.50 an hour with 3 kids in college. Worked so much overtime and stayed on budget which made that 12.50 look like I was making triple my salary.

@@DonteDashSmith I worked so much overtime which my job allowed. I'm not a shopper and did my own nails and hair. Kept my utilities low, no cable and no eating out.
I'm Latino, a first-generation immigrant and grew up dirt poor. Grew up in a third world country and in this country, in the inner city. Dave Ramsey helped me become financially literate, and his structured system made the most sense to me. I'm less than two yrs away from paying off my house and about 3 yrs from being a millionaire.

I love this story! Si se puede!! My wife is a first-gen Latina and grew up as a migrant farm worker living in extreme poverty. She was able to graduate from college (the first in her family) and we have successfully followed Dave Ramsey's baby steps and are on baby steps 4-6! Working on paying off our house asap!

I´m Mexican currently living in Mexico. Found Dave Ramsey before Covid hit. Now I´m finally debt free and I feel so blessed! Payed off all the pesos I owed the Bank and serveral department stores. So Even in a different country and currency..The baby steps really do work.

Financial wisdom is universal, it is not limited to a certain race or skin colour. Once people get rid of the victim mentality, they can actually start to see change.

🎯 💯 we attack the same issue the same way regardless of race. For example if we need to increase our income black or white it’s possible. You get a side job or look for a higher paying position. Though wealth inequality is real we can’t let that hinder our very tangible resources.

The well to draw from is different between races because of history.
My husband is white but raised by two blind parents on welfare. I can’t speak to the black community but I can say that as a person born into poverty and had absolutely nothing, Dave’s principles work.
I am a black woman. have gotten the book, used the baby steps, and gotten out of debt. I have paid off for my home. I now can help others if needed. It was NOT easy. I worked 2 jobs. I stopped eating out. I read Proverbs and asked God for wisdom daily as I went through my day, helping me to make decisions along the way. I believe that if you have the will, God makes a way.

We bought Total Money Make over and are following the BS. We are debt free except our home and have paid off 50% (265k) of our Mortgage in 4 yrs. (Bought home in 2020)
Dave Ramsey Provided the tools, however The Most High God made it All Possible for Us......Lots of Prayer, sacrifice and Hard work!!!
5 months ago I was watching Dave Ramsey on RUclips, I was almost 11k in consumer debt. I took his advice and did a budget, saved my 1k emergency fund and now I have 3k left to pay which will be paid off before the end of this year. For the first time since I was 18, i will be debt free. ❤

They worked well for me. Took me 4 years, making 40k a year. Single parent of an elementary aged kid. Living on my own in an apartment. I don't like everything about Ramsey, but he got it when it comes to getting out of debt. 🤷🏾♀️

You have kids … your income has subsidy … you get a refund on your taxes paid & subsidy throughout the year …

Please explain. Are you assuming she get help. Refund tax for two children is 2,000. Now that not a lot for a single mom not on welfare cause she is working and had to pay for childcare which is more than 2000 refund she got back. Not including every six months she has to purchase clothing for her growing children. FYI secondhand clothing is not cheap . To be honest same cost as Walmart 😮. Don’t include sneakers and boots…..
Keep it real if she lives in NJ she is not getting any help and no snap or discount much cause she makes over a certain amount. Each state has their own poverty threshold.

What I like about Dave and his principals are that IT DOESN’T MATTER YOUR RACE, COLOR, none of that. The steps work. It’s not easy but the teachings take time and they work.
I am a 31 year old black woman and I am going through the baby steps now and it is working for me! I have my 1000 saved, and have paid off all my $5000 credit card debt currently paying off my student loans which started at around $162,000 now at $156,000 since starting in August. And I make under 6 six figures but close to it!! I have had to use my emergency fund one time for a tire and it was $300 tire and wheel replacement which I was able to put back in doing a little bit of side hustling!
I do agree that you have to increase your income to help during this process of paying off debt.

I'm a 45 year old black man. I took a dave ramsey course in 2006 at FT. Campbell, and it changed my life. I went thru a divorce in 2007, and after losing %30 % of my income to my ex, I returned to Mr. Ramsey's teaching just to survive. The teachings of Mr. Ramsey helped me to go from poverty to the suburbs with some money and a future for my new wife and 4 kids. Im home every day, and I'm able to watch my kids grow with all their college taken care of. It's not about the color of the person but the messages they share with others.

I actually had a family member say “you gon listen to some old rich white man tell you how to manage your money?” Uhh yea lol. 3 years later, I was debt free, able to buy a car with cash, purchase a home and take the summer off from work to get all moved in. The baby steps work.

I’m Nigerian living in Canada and Dave Ramsey teachings got me out of debt. Paid my school loan, car loan and credit cards in 13months . I felt abundant and free afterwards.

The baby steps are not based on being black or white… I am a young black male (25) and I payed off all of my credit card debt this year ($3,500) and managed to save 2k+ in an emergency fund.. I don’t have any kids bc I know I am not prepared too and chose not to put myself in positions where that would be possible. It’s not about race it’s about making good decisions and planning. Even the bible speaks on that.. Thanks AO for your lessons 🙏🏽

Thanks to Dave Ramsey my black husband and I are 100% debt free including home. We could comfortably retire at 55 but we won’t. It took us 20yrs. We never took out student loans because we worked our way thru college. I worked in a laboratory and he worked at every Fast food restaurant known to man. We got practical degrees that had us employed before we even graduated. It’s true we lived at poverty level but we didn’t need to look rich. We focused on becoming financially independent. Our average combined salary was $50k. We think the greatest gift we gave our child was learning to live at poverty level and still having a great life. The ability to maintain a $1000 emergency is absolutely the biggest step!! Thank you for the encouraging video!!
I'm Asian American and my family escaped Vietnam to come here with nothing. I grew up in poverty and Dave Ramsey has helped me tremendously. His teachings work and is not just for one ethnicity.
As a single parent, with no financial support from co parent, the baby steps have afforded me to finally have an emergency fund, pay off my car in 2020, establish a will and trust (thanks to AO’s message last fall), and working on paying off my remaining school debt. God is good all the time and I appreciate Dave Ramsey and AO’s teams for educating our community in an attainable way.

Can I tell my story? I will tell my story. Grew up one of seven, all we knew was poverty. Focused on school, missed some meals, mental health wasn’t great. Joined army and somehow things got worse over time. I’m now on baby step number two making money I never knew I would make, and STILL LEARNING. Keep learning yall. I’m a Hispanic first generation man at 31 finally finishing his bachelors. It can be done. Focus up.
I don't take anything Mr. O'neal or Mr. Ramsey says as gospel. I use their wisdom as guidelines. It has helped me tremendously.

I do the same. Not everyone has the means or are in the same position to pay off their debt in the same amount of time. I use the tips and wisdom like you said.

I’m a black single mother and Dave Ramsey’s shows, books, and personalities changed my mind and life. They helped me get through the pandemic with a new mindset on how to make it financially and hold on to my stimulus check instead of blowing it.
I will also say everyone that he is helping does not have inherited wealth. A lot of the white callers are having financial problems that haven’t inherited a dime.

I'm black and it totally worked for my family. 40 yr old nurse marries to an engineer. 2 kids. No debt and paid off house by 39! In baby step 7. Living like no one else because for 10 years we lived like no one else. We cut all expenses and lived on less than 1 income.
I am at a stage now that I am traveling in my late 50 ‘s Still have some debts will pay it off at the end of the year. But one thing I am not doing is buying clothes and eating out.

At 42, I've come to realize that money is a tool. I’ve worked so hard over the years to realize that if you don’t make money work for you, you can’t experience true freedom. I’m glad I found that out although it was later in life, but that marked the turning point in my finances.
Herman Jonas is the brain behind my success. I've gotten into a plethora of assets with $43k spread across stocks (options and futures) for the short term and Roth IRA, index funds, and ETFs, for the long term. Now I sit back, and just reinvest at intervals while I handle my other businesses.
Do not forget that when it comes to the stock market, prices can be erratic, rising and declining quickly, often in relation to companies' policies, which individual investors do not influence.

I'm a 57yo black male, I've just retired. I own my home and I'm dedt free. I've been listening to Dave Ramsey for two decades now. I've gone through many life changing events and because of the dedt free doctrine I have survived and I have thrived. I'm truly bless. You can learn from anyone no matter what color they are. You just need to be willing to learn.
Congratulations on your retirement. I retired last week at 56. I agree people can learn from anyone who is knowledgeable and competent. While Ramsey's philosophy does yield results many of my clients wanted a more secular nonabrasive messenger so I recommended my clients check out the Money Guys and their financial order of operations which is similar in principle to Ramsey's baby steps. Basically, people follow personalities that resonate with them.
If most of us are truly honest with ourselves we are not living within our means and we’re not doing right by our money consistently.

When the COVID 19 came three years ago and Biden gave out the stimulus check my brother told me he had a friend working at the mall and when some Black people came to the mall they were spending lavishly on Gucci Prada and expensive designer clothes. Some of us have the money but don’t know how to save.

I’m Mexican American, grew up in poverty and my parents didn’t finish elementary school. Been working the Ramsey plan and will be a baby steps millionaire in the next 5 years. My wife and I host financial peace university at our Spanish speaking church and many members have gone thru the course and have turned their financial mindset around.
I started this during COVID and it was a life changer! Now that I have paid off everything, and have saved the most money I have ever saved in my life! I am free indeed 🙌🏾
I am hispanic with mexico born parents, i was born in CA and faced prejudice and generational poverty too. I found Ramsey a few years ago, and it changed my life. I showed my mother Ramsey, and it is helping her to retire with money and a paid off townhome. People make excuses to create division like that woman. I was born into severe poverty and was able to escape.
Dave has books in Spanish if you have friends and relatives that are interested. I give them away as often as I can. Cheap on eBay
Well we call him Uncle Dave over here. His teachings set us leaps and bounds ahead and we are forever thankful.
I just turned 25, and already paid off 100% of my student loan debt thanks to Dave Ramsey (Chris Hogan as well). Now currently working on purchasing my first home with the help of wise counsel, including Mr. Ramsey. My parents were (and still are) broke, and always had a scarcity mindset, but I am responsible for my own life, and my own choices/decisions.

Needed Dave for that wake up call that what I was doing before wasn’t helping the future “me”.

Zero based Budgeting and maximizing the income/minimizing the expenses were the strategies.
Its going to be hard but understand it’s only for a season. In the long run, it’s totally worth it.
Anyways, I started the baby steps and my biggest debt of it all was student loans at $58k so I put post it notes on my wall and wrote $580 on each of them (100 PostIts)
And I made a game out of it to try to remove them from my wall.
Worked a full time, part time and doordash/Ubereats.
A lot of work but now I’m not working that hard as I was before and financially at peace working on new goals.

EXACTLY! The question is, once you are out of debt, what are you going to do with all of that cash flow? Unfortunately, some go back to incurring debt again because they weren't taught how they can make their money work for them! Learn how to put that money to work!!

Preach black man preach!!!!! You made me cry when you were talking about taking food home to your family. I did the same thing when i was a sophomore in high school in S Philly. I would get out of school ,go to baseball, or basketball practice, $ work @ the academy of music then walk home 11 or 12 o clock @ night thru gang territories because i had no money for the subway @ take food home for my mom@ dad to eat. I can’t wait to fire my boss!!!! And sit @ the head of my table.

I was in a bad situation with money in 2018. Started searching RUclips for help and came across one of Dave’s videos. Let’s just say I am in a much better financial situation since learning about the baby steps. It’s not about color, it’s about making smarter decisions with your money. We have to let go of the victim mentality.

I'm a white guy but the first time I heard about Ramsey was from a black friend who recommended him. It worked for her, and I like what Dave has to say on some subjects and his focus on getting out of debt

There was a black family in my area (they have since died years ago) but the wife was one of the first black teachers at our schools back in the 60s. Her husband owned a slaughter house. They died not needing to be placed in a nursing home bc they saved their money and had home health nurses and hired care givers to take care of them.

As a Hispanic man sitting here listening while eating my taco 15.5 min in, I literally said... "AMEN" lol. I have an engineering background, love listening to Dave Ramsey. Today I am in a great financial place... I grew up in poverty and also went to jail a few times in my adolescent days. I now have a loving family and am a father to an amazing child. Dave gives amazing advice. I am looking forward to checking out your stuff as well. I usually feel there is nothing out there geared toward the Hispanic community but I think its a beautiful process when an individual takes the race away and opens up their mind to all who are trying to help and teach such as yourself. As a black man, following what I learned in Financial Peace University changed my financial life. My wife and I paid off around 60k of debt(cars, student loans,credit cards,line of credit)with the exception of our mortgage. We created a monthly budget and knowing about credit cards and debt has helped to be financially stable and build for our child. Yes there are culturally relevant obstacles that are faced, but that doesn't mean the baby steps and teachings aren't beneficial. If there is an obstacle present that Dave doesn't mention, add someone else that talks about it to your catalog, but don't throw all his info out because he doesn't touch all topics.

My dad was a Financial Peace Coordinator for years at a local community center. He taught the program Bridges Out of Poverty (which is amazing) along side Financial Peace University because he found that many of the people in his classes had to overcome a generational poverty mindset before they could save money.
i'm a black female and i follow and subscribe to ramseys steps. they worked for me almost immediately. i'm still on bs2 and will be for a few years (bc i'm not gazelle intense), but almost immediately after starting the steps i went from being in the red week by week - to having money in my account and it was right on time b/c my mom got sick and i had to travel to get to her and then fly her back up to my state to live with me. i would not have been able to do that if i hadn't started his steps just the month prior. i have never been in the red since. and i'm down to my last debt (student loan)
We are a black couple and the Baby Steps worked for us. We are debt free and are on our way to be becoming baby step millionaires.

I am black and was introduced to Dave by a black coworker who was extremely well off financially. What attracted me to him was when he talked about GOD and tithing. His teachings are basic but very beneficial and worked well for me.
I'm 35 and living in the Caribbean... when I tell u this year was full of disappointment and some serious trials ...... BUT ... the baby steps principles have helped me. Lost my job and had to use all of my emergency fund to stay afloat during this time. Rent paid ...bills paid .... still have food (Thank God) .... have to start all over in 2024 .... but I believe that it WILL work out !!! ❤

Dave Ramsey's strategies and Biblical mindset about money helped me and still do.
I'm Black, my family is Black and my extended family is Black.
I learned of Dave Ramsey back in 2006 while listening to a Focus on The Family broadcast, during my morning commute. Back in 2006, YT didn't have all of the financial talking heads of today. At that time, I wasn't aware of or exposed to any Black Americans (Christian or secular) teaching financial wisdom (not that any didn't exist).
My family and I was DEEP IN DEBT from credit cards, taxes and student loans. I was financially irresponsible and I didn't know what to really do with money. I was struck when DR pointed out the scripture "Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7-9"
Following Dave Ramsey's steps helped me to become more financially aware and wiser. By 2012 I was no longer buried in the debt I once was. I used this to help my Black family out of debt slavery.

I did the baby steps when I was single it works. However, I backtracked got cards again ran up debt again. Now here I am, married (my husband and I both make 6 figures) paying down debt again. This is it. It registered that it really is a coping mechanism. Depressed? Shop. Grieving? Shop. Bored? Shop. It used to be eating. I lost over 100lbs and learned to redirect myself. Same concept but fiscally. The baby steps work.

It took me 5 years to become debt free because of the income that I started with. Listening to the debt free screams from people who looked like me on his channel gave me HOPE. It motivated me to better my career & make more money to be where I am today.

The baby steps worked for me, but we were DINKS during my journey and I lived with my then bf who was debt free. We have now been married 5 years and my debt was paid off right after the honeymoon. I’ll always love Dave for his polarizing, easy to learn baby steps because it works for the majority of people.
Anthony, 59:00 you touched on the root cause of the issue, which is taboo to admit in our community. The realization that the large % of middle class families/homes, had parents who were not good stewards of their money when they were young. That is a major reason why the next generation struggles, is burned-out, can't marry or doesn't want to bc they have the unspoken obligation to care for their parents financially as they age, due to a lack of financial literacy and DISCIPLINE. Even if we know better, we still are not doing better.

I'm mixed race and I've been poor all my life thanks to my own foolishness and lack of people really caring to mentor and instruct. At 52 I bought and read baby steps millionaires and total money makeover. After reading them and applying the easy to follow principles, I've been blessed and inspired to follow through on Dave Ramsey's Biblical teachings. In doing so it's allowed me to pay off my home as I'm now building up my emergency fund and retirement portfolio.
Now at 55, I still have to grind as I work hard for a living but, the peace of mind of having my home paid off has lowered my stress and blood pressure alot. I'm very thankful as this excellent video by Anthony confirms how blessed and fortunate I am because of hard work, sacrifice and common sense mentorship from great teachers like Anthony and Dave.
We live in age now where if you're determined enough with a good work ethic and a little discipline anyone can achieve anything. Race or background will not hold you back if you apply the Biblical principles of stewardship explained in his books.

I’m a black grown woman I found Dave Ramsey two years ago I started the 7 step program and I have paid off 10,000 dollars worth of credit card debt. Thank the Lord for snowball method. I owe for my car payment that’s next to pay it off.
We did that exercise as a team building exercise at my job. I was so far behind everyone else. When my colleagues turned around at the end of the exercise and saw where I was several of them were very upset. I had to debrief with them to say, look with all my disadvantages I am still here so don't feel bad for me. Even at that time I was in a much better financial situation than over half of them. Baby steps are hard when you are choosing to live above your means and trying to impress others.

Worked for me! It may not seem like a lot but paid off 10k . It's all about mindset, discipline, and a realistic budget. It was hard putting down lumpsums of money on the debt that I owed because I really wanted to use it for vacation or buy things for myself that I really wanted. However I knew that if I didn't get serious about the problem at hand, it would only grow.
The baby steps literally saved my life financially! When my husband first brought it to my attention I was apprehensive, but eventually I started to grasp the ideals and see results within our finances. We are a single income family making about 60k with no debt except the house!
A lovely church going white woman, introduced me to Dave Ramsey in 2011. I am just now actually trying to set the plan in motion 🤦🏽♀️Life has been challenging but I have always done some sort of budget or intentional tracking of funds. After the pandemic, things have gotten worse financially, but I promised myself that by the end 2024, I will at least be in Baby Step 2 tomorrow of the Dave Ramsey plan.
It worked for me and I am black, navy blue and it worked for me all the way in England 🇬🇧. Dave's teachings helped me tremendously to each their own. ❤❤❤❤
Side note if you have not heard of Stacey Flowers research her. Her story is... single black mother at 18, mental health challenges, worked as a waitress making under 900 month without using state assistance and now she is worth way more than that. Her debt free journey is on RUclips where she followed Dave Ramsey teaching. Not to the tea but he did influence her journey. Her journey is real, raw and relatable.
So if she used his teaching.. why is she telling us not to use it?

The Baby Steps and Dave Ramsey helped me turn $176,667.87 of student loan debt into $66,029.00 of student loan debt in 2 years! The only reason I stopped is because my husband and I are expecting our first child. I will be starting my debt payoff journey again once our little miracle arrives! I am Black❤

I agree with you 100%. I'm a young black man and I'm working the baby steps as we speak. And I can also proudly say I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for all the help and guidance I got from people that were not black. My mom is Chinese and my dad is black and my whole life I've heard my mom say I didn't raise my son to be Chinese or black, I raised him to be a good person!

I love the teachings of Dave Ramsey period. I use to watch and still go back and watch videos of when you were on the Ramsey team. Debt has no color and financial literacy is for everyone.
