    Thanks for the helpful video! How would you directly compare the overall print quality vs the Epson et8500/8550? In the US, the Canon G620 (same as G650) is half the cost of an Epson ET8500, so it seems like a no-brainer given your positive reviews of both brands. What am I sacrificing if I pick the Canon over the Epson? Thanks so much!

    I have a G3060 tanker....2 years old....print weekly.....still on the "starter ink" that came with it.....works great...I love it.

    A question: you profiled the printer using a PC which allows turning off pronter color management, but were the test prints done via Airprint on a Mac? If so, then the RGB data after transformation by the ICC profile were surely changed again by whatever color management Airprint does? I am not Mac user, so I probably misunderstood this, but the changes in the yellow flowers and the b/w magenta cast might be a result of this printing path. Can you do the same prints on an all PC printing path and see?

      I use some profiles done through the AirPrint driver, and they seem to work well. In that case the profile actually seems to "correct" the AirPrint as well

      @@insertrealname no no, you were absolutely right! The profiles I have were done with the AirPrint when printing the test chart. So completely different from the video

    Hello. I was wondering if it leaves pizza wheels on paper? Lengthy rows of punctior holes and indents. My epson did this and I'm looking for a printer for my small bookmark business on etsy.

    Thank you for making a detail review. Which printer would you recommend for color photo? Canon G620 Or Epson ET-8500.

    I have the G3620 and this is my third one after the G650, it worked great till it died, and they replaced it with the G3620 and this is the third one in 12 months they keep replacing it every time. It says Rollers need cleaning or paper jam. Now they are saying its the paper, I am using 180 gsm and an A4 a very good brand. I have checked this with my paper supply,so can only use this so far on an A4 paper, I need to do photos. Can you Help please?

    i'm trying to decide which printer to get and i thought it was interesting because the epson ecotank also apparently has an issue with being a bit more magenta than it should be, and both of these are refillable ink so perhaps that's a thing

  • @Bassbarbie

    shame about the issues with a Mac - I've now dismissed it as an option. Back to look at the Epson again.

    When I used 250gsm paper on the G550 I kept getting the 'Rollers need cleaning' fault after ever print.

    Shame they don't do an A3 version with multiple inks. Definitely needed and glad to hear they are at least considering one.
    I'd be equally interested if they did a sensibly priced subscription ink service similar to HP and Epson for photo models.

    Did you download the canon app? You are able to turn off auto color adjust. I am using iPhone 13 pro

      No because you can't print profiles successfully through the app.

    So no go for digital negatives because of the dot spacing? This coming from someone who's not printed in over 20 years aka I know nothing.

    Absolutely avoid a Canon megatank. My G3200 has turned itself into a useless brick, because of the amount of ink it wasted on head cleaning. When its absorber pads are full, it shuts itself down. Even though one can clean and/or replace the pads, there is not way to reset the ink counter and return the unit to service. I have tried all of the tips on the internet, and none work. I absolutely emphatically recommend against buying this piece of planned obsolescence / junk. Canon customer [dis]service has been particularly unhelpful. If there is a way to reset the ink counter, they should publicize this and tell customers how to accomplish this. Right now, from my vantage point, this product is a direct violation of customer Right to Repair (if it can even be repaired for such a simple problem).

      This in not true (at least not for current production models), I own a G640 and there is MC-G02 user replaceable maintenance kit for about 10 Euros.

      At least Canon partially learned a lesson here. They certainly got an eyeful of complaints over the original setup. I presume you can easily reset your ink counter after you replace the pads? Can you do that more than once? The pads are not the big issue that the ink counter is. @@Yannis..

    • @Yannis..
      @Yannis.. Год назад +1

      @@JohnEldon-wy3bv I have not replaced it yet but counter is a chip inside kit so there is no need for reset. I have seen a hack how to reset it with arduino and clean/reuse the same kit but for such a cheap part I doubt is worth doing it.

    • @JohnEldon-wy3bv
      @JohnEldon-wy3bv Год назад +1

      Interesting ... . That would solve the problem, but it would be far less wasteful to make the waste counter resettable. Thank you (tank you? :) ) for the encouraging update on tank printers.@@Yannis..

      @@JohnEldon-wy3bv You're welcome my friend, the printer has amazing quality for the price (I bought it 189 Euros) and would be a shame to have to throw it away for a sponge.
