Bret Hart continually never mentions how he kept wrestling after Starrcade 99, he wrestled Goldberg again on Nitro plus in following weeks he wrestled Benoit, Nash & Terry Funk on Thunder in a hardcore match. I believe Bret was already having injury issues going into Starrcade 99 but we'll never know & how much more damage was done after Starrcade when he kept wrestling for a month. Bret also never mentions how he hurt himself at Starrcade 99 before Goldberg kicked him, when he botched the figure 4 around the ring post on the outside when he slammed his head on the ground. This was the 2nd time Bret hurt himself in WCW by misjudging the WCW ring size.
heenan said it all in one sentence - "they killed the golden goose".

The fact that all these guys weren’t taking responsibility is what made the episode great, it really shows that they’re egotistical and immature to this day.

I'd argue the death nail came when Jim Crockett promotions tried to chase the WWE and spent too much money which caused the sell to Turner to begin with. I think a healthy Jim Crockett promotions might have eventually beaten the WWE. Their product was just much better in the 80s than the WWF.

Goldberg was supposed to get a rematch on the nitro of the fingerpoke of doom. They booked his to get arrested for something insane and hogan stepped up to take his place. Nash destroyed wcw in less than a month. Look up how they booked goldberg that night on nitro its disgusting

Loved the review. Konnan kept it real for sure about the Nash comments on that dumb finger poke of doom stuff. I remember living through that, and none of my friends thought that was cool. It sucked. Made me watch only WWF & ECW almost exclusively after that.

To me the real beginning of the End for WCW was the first Time Warner Merger in 95 after Nitro started. You have to look at that merger and to me Ted probably knew something was up that they were going to push him out
The thing about the Finger Poke of Doom for me... made no sense at all. As you said the whole reason the nWo split was because Kevin and Macho Man got tired of Hogan'a antics and felt they would of been better champions. Macho Man beats Sting and Hogan takes the title back the following night starting that whole story and all of 98 was the gang war. I loved it... though War Games really should of been the two nWo factions going at it. After that nothing WCW made any sense. Meanwhile I'm already starting to check out WWF stuff around Summer Slam Austin vs Taker the Highway to hell. Drops off for me for a while till Survivor Series and the Deadly Games... that whole Austin vs Vince, Mankind vs Rock, Austin vs Rock... by early April I've fully converted to WWF. As WCW product got worse the less I cared. Last WCW PPV I watched was Starrcade 99... I was 100% done after.

I remember how cool it was when Goldberg beat Hogan we couldn't afford ppv and it was great to see that level of match in nitro I stopped watching as much wcw after Nash tased Goldberg, there was so much going in in wrestling then everybody was wearing merch, nwo black and white ,red and black wolfpack, Stone cold shirts, dx ,and this was elementary school
To think how much the wwe sold for years later in comparison to what wcw was sold for
I'm wondering if they're gonna make another spin-off for wrestling like Who Killed ECW? I wouldn't mind watching that.
To me Goldbergs kick to hart doesn't look that hard was there harder spots he did to Bret that injured him before what do yall think
That’s how it is though in wrestling. Sometimes the thing that doesn’t look too bad is what ends up injuring guys the worst.

I find it interesting that its Rock, one of the few guys at the time to NEVER go to WCW, is the one producing this. Even Kane and Undertaker, two of WWE's most loyal guys, were in WCW first.
Anyway, its good to see a series actually get as many POVs into the documentary as possible. Really adds depth.
But Kevin Nash here, yeah. The guy did less and less in the ring besides yap as his WCW career continued. Bischoff may have had his nose up Hogan's ass, but Nash got his nose up his own, and hasn't pulled it out to this day. Goldberg was my favorite wrestler. And I do acknowledge the kick was bad and he was too green at the time. He improved, thankfully. And I get Bret Hart being mad about his situation and all, but like you, its too much at this point. Every step Goldberg has taken for the last 20 years, its like Bret Hart tries to spit on him.
Anyway, this series takes me back down memory lane. Both the good, and the bad (about to get epically bad).

It was like The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar at the WWE's WrestleMania 30) Raven, an ECW original like the Sandman (Hardcore Hak), Saturn, Sabu, Mike "Gladiator" Awesome or Stevie Richards, all went to WCW. Gladiator's run in WCW wasn't so awesome ("That 70's Guy" or the "Fat Chick Thrilla.") "That will put some butts in the seats." - Tony Schiavone I wonder if the current WWE's "Bloodline" stable/faction is kinda like the nWo, from the 1990's ?! Naaahh... I remember switching channels during the 90's Monday night wars, between RAW and Nitro; ECW (Hardcore TV) on Fox Sports Net (at 1 a.m., on a Friday night). the nWo in the WWE = meh.. it just wasn't the same. Bret "The Hitman" Hart being bitter toward Bill Goldberg, is like CM Punk's views on Ryback, the "Big Guy," when Ryback slammed Punk onto a table; Punk's ribs were previously injured. It seemed like hogan vs goldberg was one of the last storytelling matches in wcw hogan could direct a match in ring when he thought it was worth it
At this point if bret hasn’t gotten over it in fact seems to double down everytime he talks about it . Starting to think he missed his spot and his ego won’t let him take one ounce of accountability for it .
Plain and simple Kevin Nash ,Hulk Hogan, Eric Bishop kill WCW and Vince Russo it was Eric Bischoff bad decision and the old guards trying to keep their spot

@@hoopbaby07 Goldberg was popular. They should have worked with him. I watched his first match. They pushed him. They should have taken care of him. Lesson learned. But when other people care about their paychecks and only about themselves. You have no choice but to fail. Look at the contracts. Forget about Goldberg. No one else in the WCW was getting over big time. Scott Steiner should have gone up against Hogan. Macho Man would win the title then lose to Hogan after a very short title reign. I can go on and on and on. Eric Bischoff needs to admit that he was successful because of the NWO but failed because of the NWO. Which was the original members.

@@RL.LIVETV yeah sounds like majority of the wrestlers helped kill wcw , it definitely wasn’t a team wanting to do what’s best for business. Mostly all of them were in business for themselves.
Man, I remember it like it was yesterday. I got hooked on the WCW like just a few months before the hogan versus Sting match and watched it up until around the Wolfpack nwo. I did watch a little bit WWE back but I think after the Wolfpack I switched over the WWE at least I want 2002 is when I stopped watching. Definitely was an interesting time and wrestling.
I stopped watching after invasion angle or a couple of months before that, that was all a mess. But it was great when it all started and they were in competition, Monday Wars.

The thing is what I don’t think people understand is it did not really matter how many people where watching nitro because they did not want the show yes they fucked up with a lot of stuff like booking but after Ted turner lost power Bischoff was fucked when time Warner took over they where fucked you have to remember even in the 2000 wcw was still average 2 million fans 1999 they where average 3 million

I still can’t understand how badly they fumbled that Sting vs. Hogan finish. It was the easiest thing to book. Gave me Lex Luger in 1993 vibes almost.
Very good episode. I loved the ending of how they gave Eric bishoff his flowers. He gets a lot of shit now, but he did so much good. I think his good outweighed the bad.
