Hi Dave, yeah good work on the Bullhead track. It's code 75 rail so the same as the Peco Finescale track, but is Bullhead and has correct sleeper spacing. I have code 75 and everything runs on it fine. Old stuff say Triang Hornby with the course flanges or maybe Lima, not tested, which has large deep flanges on the wheels might be a problem. I think it's mainly the wheels with deep large flanges which have problems, as the bottom of the flange ends up running along the top of the sleepers. Anyway I think most of your stuff I have seen on your videos will be fine. All the very best Dave.
Dave, 2k 🎉 what a treat before the end of the year mate. Well done and well deserved, still easily the best hidden gem on RUclips. Cheers for the comprehensive bullhead test 😅 but based on how you put it together, I’ll stick to code 100, you can keep your finescale snobbery. Great update mate and happy new year
Haha hey I tell you what mate it’s actually going down quite a treat 😆 I’ll be running trains on it within a few days I reckon cos I don’t piss around 🤣🤣😆😆👍 One day someone will discover me and I’ll be on Disney plus like a modern Thomas and friends 😜
Seasons greetings Dave 🎄 Always look forward to your bonkers videos…but you could have knocked me down with a feather when I learned we were to get a science lesson 😮 I put on my best white overall and borrowed my mates thick rimmed specs to look extra clever 🤓 Best science lesson ever..couldn’t believe the auto grab you have produced! Just shows latex had more than one use 😉 Looking forward to more bullhead talk…Im about to embark on buying in quite a bit once I have sold an organ or two!
🤣🤣🤣 I unfortunately wore the auto grabber out using it to polish my Christmas veg 🤣🤣🤣 Have you had a go with the bullhead yet? My god the connectors are like 1/4 the soze of the code 100 stuff 🤯
@ not tried it yet Dave…just nipping out to pick up my fiddle yard baseboards this morning. I’ve cheated and had them made, although I’ll be making the middle and top boards myself. I’ll go and take some lessons in patients and mindfulness before I tackle those fishplates 😂
You don't need a Landrover you need a good old fashioned Metro! Nice episode Dave. You have some wonderful shots and as always the commentary is superb. See you next year buddy. Take it easy.
Thanks, Dave. Your Robert Arm Made my Christmas. Still smiling. Bill from Western Australia, I wish you all the best for the New Year. At the club, we call it the Hand of God. By the way, 37s Rule.
Another treat of a video, thanks Dave. Nice testing with that bullhead track. Incredible progress on LJ2, which you acknowledge is mainly due to your impatience. That’s good news for the rest of us! Also, you make a good point about some of the eBay prices for rolling stock, might as well buy new a lot of the time. All the best for the New Year pal, I am really looking forward to more OODave videos.
Yeah I can’t resist getting cracked on mate, to be fair it’s bugging me not being able to work on it as the family is all at home 😆 Happy new year pal 🥳
Good. It works the plaster stuff I was never impressed I have been on the foam board and hot wire cutter never looked back. Sculptomold where I live takes weeks and months to dry. The foam cut shape paint scatter static can create a hillside in minutes not hours. Otherwise top tat as always. Bull head make sure you curve it to test as well. My 150th appears next Friday with a surprise addition. Stay safe and good luck with the three dimensional printer.
The foam stuff is decent and quick but if you drop stuff on it I find it damages that bit to easily. Sculptamould does take forever to dry and if you get impatient and paint it too early I find the paint doesn’t adhere good enough. I did the hot wire cutter stuff previously too but I find that a bit restrictive with what I had. Will have to see how it all turns out I guess 👍
@ well you gotta stick with what makes you happy. I’m sure that bullhead will look quite the Sir Elton. I did a short featuring a landy trying to get dopey out the way of a cattle crossing just nabbed the audio from crocodile Dundee. About to buy my first accurascale a little hesitant since I have really only heard bad things but hoping there Deltic will be a right toffee.
Interesting idea that you knoews. At least all your wagons n such will run nice. scenery first.. why the hell not, hope it works out, looks like it is so far. Hope you have a smashing new year. looking forward to the next one...
@doubleodave Hopefully, improvements will be made for version 2. Best wishes to you and your family for the New Year. Are you venturing to the Doncaster show 😁👍
Great job Frank, Get well soon DAVE New years eve soon reach for the lazers you party animal! Good luck for when you get the new 3D printer and Happy New Year to you and your family.
I won’t need luck Deano I’m hoping you’ve already mastered them and are going to play a game of “file sharing world championships” with me 😃👍 Ps. I’ve been reaching for too many lasers haven’t I? 🫤
Nice video Dave. The class 37 is the of the most beautiful locos ever made.As for your scenery I did mine the same way, cardboard angles rammed full of paper and either paper or plaster bandage over the top.Happy New Year to you and the family.
Hi Dave, Great news on the 2,000 subscribers. 👍 When we refer to old stock it is typically the old Lima models that has deeper flanges on the wheels. Probs up until the mid 1990’s from memory. Hope that helps. Colin.
The main problematic rolling stock when it comes to code 75 rail would be the Lima models as their wheels were quite course .With these help is at hand as replacement wheels are available and I have replaced some carriage wheels .
Top video as allways 37Dave, even spoilt us with a bit of science!!😳😳 Nice to see the progress on LJ2, I’ll bring some proper locos to test it once you’ve finished it 👌
Seasons Greetings Dave, congratulations on reaching 2k subs 👏🏻👏🏻 Got half a dozen of those Accurascale wagons, great value. As I said last time, liking the bullhead track, and for me the rolling stock seem to run quieter and smoother on it! 🤔
Cheers Craig, I think I’ve now collected up most of the model community that are prepared to watch such nonsense and silliness so probably won’t ever get to 3k 🤣🤣 Happy new year pal 👍

We don’t have this issue in TT:120 so I know nowt! On the sculptormould stuff, have you tried making your own? Dead easy, cheap as chips (technically much cheaper) if you need me to make a video on it, let me know, then you can do it and more people will see it 😉
Haha that lady’s arm was fat betty from the cafe😁 You could make a video on it pal but I’d prefer you to make a hardback book then I could ask for a book for my birthday 👍 (I’d still watch the video) Ps - don’t want much do ya points and crossings tested too! Next episode bullhead loop the loop testing ! 😵💫 Cheers pal happy new year!

The stock that wouldn’t run on code 75 was the pre 90’s stuff, the crude Hornby flanges bumped over the chairs. Back then, if you wanted detailed stock, you had to to re wheel with Romford, Gibson, or Sherman wheels, then buy or make your own detailing, cutting and shaving loco bodies of moulded in details, which were also often out of dimensions, Hornby teak coaches were notorious for that. Modellers are now blessed with some very fine stock, being able to take them straight out of the box and run, without any jarring toy like aesthetics. When I put my new Accurascale Deltic alongside my Lima Deltic, I actually wonder how we tolerated it, it’s junk.
Merry christmas matey, usually anything made before early 2000s might struggle but really just turn each over and glance at how deep n wide the wheel flanges are, youll soon realise ifany look really chunky/wide/deep compared to everything else youve got. nice video, I think "old stock" refers to pre 90s stock and I'd suggest they are referring to the locos . and run what you remember or actually like yes eBay is getting very stupid for pricing
Fair enough I always think of rolling stock with stock rather than locos, I don’t plan on getting any too old locos so hopefully won’t have any issues 👍
G'day Dave congrats on your 2000 subs.Have a Great 2025 Mate.🎉🎉 Great content and you're still a Madman..What is OLD ??? Great question .Can I order a pair of Robot arms to help clean the track..Cheers Mate..Regards Tony

'Biggerness' is it a word? It is now. Always a blast watching your videos I just giggle all the way through. Good question about old it's all relative really in the end although a deep flange is a deep flange and that will be the issue no matter how old or new the modelling. Have to say that so far as a bullhead user I have not come across anything that could not run on the layout. Mind you not got that much to run on it to start with lol. 37's are defo delicious seems that you, Hylt and myself covet them and don't know why! As for Scultamod it did go bonkers so I resorted to Finishing Plaster and Sand and it really did the job fine. Hey, can you send me a transcript of the video? I put my PPE on like you said and I couldn't hear you with my ear protectors on.🤣 Seriously though, it's only the really old stuff like Triang with the massive wheel flanges that will cause you grief I think. I run locos and wagons from the '70s on code 83 track without a problem. (I don't have any code 75 yet) Happy New Year mate. Cheers!
Dave iv gone digital.santa got me a sound chip for one of my 141s.they be irish trains. Can you recommend something better than the hornby select I have as its really not a great bit of kit. Cheers Dara

I’m just wondering whether to go code 75.
I’ll get back to you on this one….
Merry Christmas

You’ll have to keep the hard hat on until you get to finish it 😁
Hey, can you send me a transcript of the video? I put my PPE on like you said and I couldn't hear you with my ear protectors on.🤣
Seriously though, it's only the really old stuff like Triang with the massive wheel flanges that will cause you grief I think.
I run locos and wagons from the '70s on code 83 track without a problem. (I don't have any code 75 yet)
Happy New Year mate. Cheers!
🤣🤣🤣 yeah I was panicking over nothing.
Now I just need to worry about those tiny fishplates!
Happy New Year! 👍
Dave iv gone digital.santa got me a sound chip for one of my 141s.they be irish trains.
Can you recommend something better than the hornby select I have as its really not a great bit of kit.
Cheers
Dara
I had a hornby select to start with, they’re very basic aren’t they. I use a Z21 with I pad but those powercabs are really popular - and cheaper. He’s a good un is Santa, you’ll like Dcc I reckon 👍👍
Early 1980s Lima stuff runs like a dog on code 75.
Ah that’s ok I don’t get any locos that old 👍👍
Code 75 is an excellent choice
Absolutely Steve, I’m not regretting it 👍
@doubleodave I was hoping to use my rewards points in part payment for another class 50, but they can only be used for new orders, not pre-orders. Time to cancel and reorder.
Seems a bit nuts having rules for reward points that you’ve earned
