Poland is quite possibly the best thrash metal guitarist ever..but on accident. He set the bar for individuality in the genre. Poland plays the guitar in metal like Kenny G plays the flute in Jazz. Fn Perfection !
memory failed ... Megadeth's second album came out in 1986. So Poland joined in 1983 or 1984. On another note I would have loved to hear something with Chris, Gar and Stu.

yeah man dave talks a lot about him in his biography! it's impressive how many times dave Mustaine & Chris got into a fistfight, Poland was apparently very annoying sometimes
Best guitarist Deth ever had. Probably the best jazz fusion and thrash metal guitarist ever. Apart from Holdsworth no one touches this guy. His runs are clear out of this world.
There is also Gambale, Shawn Lane and Gunthrie. I love all these guys including Poland and Holdsworth. I will say Polan's OHM is the most listenable of them all. My gaad that band is just so tight and so great.
This guy has the right mix of technique, invention , styles to make metal music that isn’t stale and generic. The word fusion was made for the likes of him.
Man he has a horrible sense of time lol but he’s sharp everywhere else. His timing on guitar is great tho and that’s all that really matters. One of my favorite guitarists ever.

Mr.Poland is a guitar genius and virtuoso. He is the Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, and John McLaughlin of speed metal and thrash metal.
