Adam - great vid thanks. That clear plastic tube is supposed to replace the black "Y" piece. so that it just connects to your drain hose. Just thought I'd throw that in for anyone who might be wondering. Thanks for the video - helped me heaps.

I just did this myself and made a few mistakes.
For you video - a couple notes:
You should have left the two hoses joined and coming down into the clear piece that you would use to connect with a section of the tube from the canister you removed. This would mean you remove the black hard-plastic Y and the bigger section of the hose.
Also the heat-shrink is an adhesive shrink. Heat it and then apply pressure to seal it. Don't try to "shrink" to create the waterproofing as it won't shrink that far.
Thanks for the comments. I’ve been running it as seen in the video for 2 years and 5,000 miles and no issues yet. Not saying you’re wrong, just sharing my experience.
If there is one thing I envy about Americans besides the amazing nature it is that you all have houses with garage -so our important hobbies have the place they deserve :). With us, everyone handles motorcycles in the yard, without lighting, stands or cabinets for the equipment and tools. Great detailed guides BTW. I installed the pollution sensor unit and a 3'rd side clutch pump and more additions will come later. Safe riding!
Thanks for watching the videos! Funny thing is, this is actually my cellar / basement :P I bring the bikes in here in the Winter time. No garage for me but this space is heated. I rigged up an array of LED lights to make working on bikes easier and put in a fridge for beer with a small stereo. Our Winter is 5 months long with ice on the ground so I kill time tinkering on bikes! Have a great year.

Adam you amaze me. I know that you are very mechanically inclined but between your 2 jobs, researching the new parts, installing new parts, filming/editing uploading, do you ever sleep! You are doing a fantastic job! Are you going to wait for the tall seat to come in before you go for a ride? Cheers
Thanks for saying that. We're about to hit busy season with work, too! I will hopefully ride before I have to mail the seat off in May to have the wrap done. This is seriously why I purchase bikes in the Winter, all of this would be done by now!!!!

Hey Adam,
On the bolt that replaces the 8mm copper bit, would you throw lock tite on it? I am thinking about just cutting the OEM hose on it and using the plug with a zip tie on it, so it keeps the factory connection.
I put Loctite 243 (medium strength, petroleum resistant) on everything. But I’m a weirdo. For that one, you probably don’t need it.
On start up was everything ok the rottwieller kit and rade garage kit ,,,did everything work ok
Yes, all good now. I plugged one of the holes manually so fuel wouldn't leak out when the bike goes down.

Can you tell me why most people want to remove that ( canister )
What effect does it have?
These canisters are just charcoal filters and their intention is to filter any fuel vapors that would normally expel to atmosphere unfiltered. In some cases, these canisters are closed loop and air goes back into the air box after being filtered to recirculate into the motor eliminating most of the emissions that are poisoning our earth. In reality, these weigh 2-10 pounds and we're talking about a similar amount of vapors that would be coming out of the gas station nozzles if you spill a little on the side of your car. Tiny traces of gas that are nothing compared to the tail pipe of a diesel truck. So most people choose to remove them. No state except California requires these but due to California's size, they are required nationally "CARB Compliant" is a big deal here. In this install video, I am still sending the vapors back into the air box but I'm just removing the filtering hardware to reduce weight and simplify the exhaust system.
Why not jusf remove the white y splitter and reconnect both lines to the black?
Great question. the concern I had at the time was since I have 2 fuel tanks that I should keep the Y-splitter intact. If you don't have an LR, you probably won't have this issue.
Adam, you mentioned in another vid that you are going to get the fuel line recall to be done. Do you need to do that if you did the Canisterectomy on your Husky?
The laws may vary by state or country but here in New Hampshire, I’m actually writing this comment as I’m driving away from the dealer after having the recall work for it and they raised no issues regarding anything on the bike or emissions.
I've just installed this canister removal mod from Rottweiler. Now it seems if I drop the bike on the side fuel will start pouring out of the overflow tube. I have not tried it myself yet, but people on one forum claim that's the case. Have you had this issue? If yes how did you solve it? It seems fuel pouring out from a downed bike is not very safe.
Yes, I have the same issue. I asked Rottweiler about it and they said just keep the splitter lower than the tanks. I'm going to plug the 3rd hole that is exposed as it's not needed anymore.
@@AdamChandler86 so you're keeping the stock (thick) drain tube and the Y splitter? Just plugging the unused hole in the Y?
that's the temporary plan. I am awaiting Rottweiler updating their page w/ guidance / part that works with the Long Range. I would like to see them ship me a tube that is just a single Y split where both tanks go into one hose that vents.
@@AdamChandler86 I think I found a solution. I installed back the canister and the original Y with the thick dump pipe capped at the bottom, with a thin line from the Y connected to the "Tank" inlet on the canister (as was the OEM setup). To the "Purge" outlet of the canister I connected a long hose and routed it to the rear shock linkage. This now dumps the excess fuel, if any, from the canister.
This has the following benefits:
1) fuel seems not to be leaking out when the bike is on the side (at least it does not start immediately)
2) there are virtually no gas fumes in the garage.
3) I retained the benefits of the delete kit, since the sensor plug and the block-off plate are still installed, and the fumes from the canister are not going into the intake.

Yeah. Agreed. All of their stuff seems cheap and overpriced.
If we knew the value of the resistor (assuming that's what it is) this could be an almost fee mod! Can't find that info anyware...

Hi Cliff. wow it's been so long that I'd have to take it apart and check. I honestly don't know. I definitely would have retained a gasket if there was one.
