My family were living in the UK in the early 60s, and were among the nearly million people who turned out to see President and Mrs. Kennedy's motorcade in central London in June 1961. I can still remember the huge excitement of the crowds as the motorcade drove by. My parents said they were never prouder to be an American than on that day. Who knew then he would be struck down by an assassin two years later. Sigh.
