Ye Horrik was such a bitch, but Jarl Bjorg was actually a pretty good character well i did not like his decisions but overall he was pretty great.

Vikings was nothing to take lightly.....can you imagine Viking boats coming up rivers so fast and many...your fear of dying was nothing compared to what probably happened to them....love this show.

+Joe Bloh I hope you're trolling, because this shows you know nothing. A lot of Vikings were Brunettes, but most died their hair with a special soap to give it a blondeish colour. Also the Vikings were regular sized people. The average height for the Viking was 5ft 7 apparently, and this wasn't particularly tall for the time. Still, they may have been taller than average.
Do you know the songs that're being played anyway? I know it's Wardruna, but which ones? :-)

Is it me or did season 1and 2 have much better fight choreography then all the others that came after it.
I loved this battle but the 5th’s season’s midd finaly was underwhelming for me. Although It could be the it was directed.
Spears were the most common weapon, still I see only one spear in the last battle against cavalry.
Double axes were more commonly used among the Vikings but the spear was also cheap to make so I get what you're saying
needs more actual scandis or scandi types to play as norse warriors, all the celtic niggas, celts are cool too, but its like having a film about the mongols and having philipino actors

+M Lee Its filmed in Ireland when making this video tinkering with color correction many of the dark haired people had red hair lol. They do a good job with the mains "look" but ya the extras could use some work...

The song is from the show season two soundtrack the track you mention is "Battle for Kattegrat" I edited out the first part of the song as it started slow then looped a few times to fight the video. Thanks for watching!

Interesting comment because I was considering trying to use the Witcher song you speak for this video love the Witcher music . Considering copyrights I choose the shows own music and yes they do sound alike. Wasn't intentional but I guess its what I wanted for the video so I found something similar.

The show's writers actually touched on that.The main force Saxon army was facing the channel and the Franks and was epuipt much better.In the big picture the Vikings was never a empire ending threat more of a nuisance.More often the vikings faced local militia or w/e the local noble could muster up even if they could react in time...Most often they failed to even engage the raiders at all they needed minute men what they had was 1 or 2 day men...
That and its much cheaper for producers to make few full time blacksmiths exists today.I agree though more chain armor would be nice but local militia would of had the cheapest armor like plated leather represented in the show...
The Franks in season 3 sure! could have used more maille.If filmed in California they would have access to proper props in volume.Filmed in Ireland on a cable TV budget its just not practical production wise.On that note the wardrobe and weapons are really good imo...

I was told, while working in Sweden, that they were real short and they ingested some kind of mushrooms before battle hence their bravery in combat and their capacity to take blows and keep on going. +The Imbroglio The reason I did was simple.The way its cut it would sound really bad with many songs cutting in and out as they play battle music in the show.The songs used are from the show and was playing in some of the scenes I used.
Using slow motion and quick action cuts would have distorted any sounds the show had especially the music.I only comment because I had thought of not originally adding music but it sounded really cut up.Not to mention the slow motion shots was painful on the ears lol

'shield-maidens'...if they were classed as part of the 'freefolk' they could choose to become warriors and fight so that when the day of Ragnarok arrives they could help fight for Asgard, hell some of the Nordic women were better fighters than the men!
Shield-maidens existed, and have just as much historical evidence as males fighting in battles. In archeological digs where they are finding bones of deceased warriors from battles they are finding that more and more of them are women than they had previously thought. In viking society women had many more rights and much more say than in other cultures, one of them was to fight. So before you give ignorant statements regarding the accuracy of the presence of women in a battle, maybe actually do your research. Because out turns out there should actually be quite a few more women than just Lagertha present in these battles.
Where's your evidence? As far as I'm aware, no evidence of bone deformity, scarring or trauma has been found on any of these supposed women warrior skeletons.

I stopped watching Vikings in season 4 It just became so unrealistic and stupid.

Its actually pretty good by tv standards. No shows or movies got expert HEMA fighting or master tactics allot. This is pretty much as good as it can get. I would have loved GoT with master swords fighting from something like Aurura or whatever but never gonna happen either
