@Rat Teardrops It's certainly not for everyone. Most truckers on the road aren't really truckers at heart. It's just the best way they can provide for their families. You really need to have a pioneer spirit & a love for the road to be on the road months at a time like me. Also, your diet doesn't have to be shit. I got a little fridge & freezer, a slow cooker, & a little plug in skillet. I eat a well balanced diet & take a walk just about everyday.

An issue I experience is that I have a bass type voice, and being self taught leaves me with only other singers to compare myself too, who have different voices and higher ranges. I wish I knew how to scream in my falsetto register or even high chest consistently but it seems it clicks one day and then just refuses the next. That became more of a rant than a question but any advice is appreciated 😂🙏keep the videos coming man
Hey man I think I might be able to help. Like you I have a natural low voice but adapted after practice to be able so sing fairly high. If you want to know more about that subject see Chris's video about trick yourself into singing higher. The key is relaxation in the throat and even higher pressure in the stomach. If you bear down even harder you'll probably notice your sound becoming louder and a bit higher. Alot of what you are looking for comes from that and the shapes you make with your mouth. If you lift the corners of your mouth and open wider, a higher sound will come out. Be careful though. If you use more pressure from your stomach you might experience alot of stress on your neck, like when you make the "e" sound Chris does. If you relax your throat and are able to simply make a note you should be fine. Good luck man!
The heavy compression part is gold for me. Exactly my problem as soon, as I try shouting it heavily distorting. Never done the exercise that way🤦🏼. You are providing so much value man. Thank you!
The reson I get pains is I think too much. 🤣 Sounds strange, but the more I focus on making sure I have proper technique, I end up doing it wrong and getting the dryness and tickle when practicing. I have choir experience so using my diaphragm is second nature. Also I indeed still compare myself to other vocalists. That also trips me up. I don't have a powerhouse singing voice, my voice is very airy in nature, so I gotta keep reminding myself I will never be one of the big guns, but I can still be cute lil ole' me with a scream that can be unique and suited to my voice once I really learn how to.
You sir, have saved my vocal cords. I had been trying to hit high notes by pushing through the wrong places and almost damaged my voice. It's harder too for me because I have an enlarged Thyroid (Goiter) and it makes everything more sensitive in that area. I stopped trying because I knew something didn't feel right, and I took a break from singing because it was frustrating me so much, but I found your videos/free course and I'm hooked. I watch Ken Tamplin too but your approach makes more sense to me because I know how stuff should feel and how it shouldn't. Today I got through Disturbed's cover of The Sound of Silence (although I tune it a whole step down to stay safer) with no coughing, strain, or pain. This is legit stuff that people would pay $100/hr for but you're posting it for us to watch free. Thanks again.
Man, I love you. I've been singing and screaming for over 6 years now and even though most of the time I don't feel pain, I didn't have any idea of this. Today's recording session will be better thanks to you! Love from a Venezuelan follower
Chris, could you do an analysis on some Ville Valo from HIM, who is a baritone with deep, full low notes (Sleepwalking Past Hope middle section) and present high notes (most of their ballads). His use of distortion, mostly used live, was also crazy. He also used to do that Michael Jackson hiccup which was really unique in the genre.
Hey Chris! What about dryness sensation? After screaming for about 10-15 minutes, I don't feel pain, tickling or anything else serious, but I feel like my throat is getting dry really quick, and after practicing, when I'm talking, I feel like I need to clear the throat all the time. Also, huge thanks for all the tutorials, you're making my small screaming dream come true :D
I felt that sensation especially when doing the tibetan monk type sound. It's fine, usually. But I can't really tell why sometimes it tickles. Probably when I try to vary the pitch and when I haven't done it in a while. Yet another lesson that's bang on. Keep doing your stuff, Chris.
man. These lessons are insane Chris. Blown away. I will for sure hit you up for some lessons in the future. I'd love to get some direct feedback. thanks!
This is gold! Thank you Chris! I know you get like a billion singer requests all the time... So here's another one, or two.. ;) Would be amazing to have your take on singers like Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, Brian Johnson from ACDC or Joe Elliot from Def Leppard. Even though I've actually learnt to sound more similar to them from your other videos, it would be cool just to see YOUR take on their styles, and what we can learn from that. Anyways, cheers! Hey Chris! Watching your videos for a while now and you taught me a lot! Could you make a video for singing passages with a deeper voice/ exercises to make your voice hit deeper notes / warm up deep voice area? Ild be glad!:)
Hey Chris! I'm finding that I feel this distortion coming from near my soft palate and it's very comfortable with no discomfort at all. I end up with a lot of the distortion so I'm trying to dial it back to hear more of the voice. This is great since I'm drawing my inspirations from Chester and Jon Mess. Thank you!
Hey Chris, I'm a fairly new fan to your channel and i've seen some of your "how to sing like" videos and wanted to request you do one for Jeremy McKinnon of a day to remember He's a singer I idolize and would love to hear your take on how to do his style of vocals
You’re videos are amazing! I have been singing in my band for about three years now, and I admit I haven’t used the proper techniques when it came to screaming. I’m worried I might have messed up my voice without even realizing it.
Thank you for this :) I'm also curious how much support we should be using when singing at low volume and just kind of relaxed? not really pushing anything but just singing freely, should you still bear down in that situation?
So all I have to do is push more in my abs muscles, I was doing a combination between coockie moknster and false vocal fold distortion, which I also like it but it has to be use with discretion.

I know this sounds crazy. But I had a space cookie 4 days back. An amazing experience it was tripping. But this urge to clear my throat is still there. I am a singer and I've never ever done pot edible before (I don't smoke either). It was my 1st time. I was doing my scales today and everytime I had this urge to clear my throat. Instead of coughing it out, I took warm ginger tea. I can still hit the notes. No problem. But this weird sensation will it go away? Can anyone please explain if this is normal?
I'm thinking that speech and mouth breathing increases our risk for CoV-19 infection. People should talk less and breathe through their nose, so the sinus passages protect our lower throat and trachea. You would think singing is still riskier. Singers get throat infections on tour.
I'm so glad I'm a truck driver. Makes practicing a lot easier & not embarrassing.

Not sure on this one :)
@@chrisliepe I'm fine. Now turns out it was a case of "cotton mouth" aka dry mouth. 😄 Thanks for replying tho. Hello from India 🤘😃

I'm thinking that speech and mouth breathing increases our risk for CoV-19 infection.
People should talk less and breathe through their nose, so the sinus passages protect our lower throat and trachea.
You would think singing is still riskier. Singers get throat infections on tour.
