Cochlear Implant Surgery: Nikki's Journey - Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital

Nikki was born severely deaf and underwent double cochlear implant surgery at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
We documented her journey from surgery, to therapy and to her hearing again.
The Cochlear Implant Center at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital assists children who have severe-to-profound hearing loss and receive limited benefit from conventional treatment options such as hearing aids.
The program uses a comprehensive team approach that includes a pediatric otolaryngologist, neurotologist, pediatric audiologist, speech therapist, social worker and team coordinator, who collaborate to make the best medical and clinical decisions and provide expert follow-up care.
