I'm just now getting to the Oh Deer Diner and probably 2 hours in lol. I've waited a long time for a sequel and I'm just in awe of the attention to detail and the cameos.
This is my GOTY - it’s just right up my alley. David Fincher’s color palette and mood, David Lynch’s otherworldly surrealism and thrumming industrial sound design with the bat shit crazy, go for broke attitude of Lars Von Trier. I think the best compliment you could pay AW2 is that it IS an amalgamation of what the very best video games have always aimed at but rarely delivered: A narrative experience that could rival the best storytellers in film or television with the gameplay and interactivity that make games so unique. It’s incredibly cinematic from the very first moments and it just goes deeper and deeper. Incredible achievement visually as well. The Northlight engine, always promising, let loose on Alan Wake 2 with its recent massive influx of cash and resources. There is nothing that looks like it - it is firmly NEXT GEN and that just enhances every aspect of it. A must play title - and so unique, I doubt we’ll see anything approaching it until the NEXT Remedy game
Wow, as someone who was more hyped for Alan Wake 2 than Spider-Man 2, I am shocked you gave this game a higher rating. I am on chapter 3 of AW2, and so far, it's been very enjoyable.

@GForceIntel the Later PC version definitely gave it boost it needed. It was a horrible blurry mess on the 360. But looked great on the PC. And still holds up today
Everyone of remedy games have been looker's for there time. Hell even today control is probably the best showcase of ray tracing after cyberpunk and now alan wake 2
Just done the early part of the game but it’s got me a few times with jump scares and some cool twists. Very good so far. Only minor critique is some of the storytelling details in the early game pulled me out a little. For instance Saga being FBI yet she done an autopsy and touched evidence without gloves. And a reaction of a couple of the local cops after a main story point made them feel more of a caricature of small town cops than real people.
That's literally my only critique so far. The no gloves really broke the immersion in that moment. But overall the experience has been brilliant. Definitely not for everyone as it's a slow burner and more of a narrative experience then anything else. But it's a very good game.
I am waiting for buying it until they fix aliasing-like shimmering.. I would prefer bit simpler graphics/ less greenery but without that fsr2 shimmer that is very irritating for my eyes. Hopefully they will patch it.. or make version for ps5 pro if it comes out..
Careful, you might break your controller when you get stuck. Got stuck on the roof of the cinema for an hour. Had to change the scene for things to change. The wall magically became a door so I could walk down some stairs.
I understand the frustration with not being able to get the physical disc and box art etc. I would have bought this game physical instead of digital as well, IF it would have been an option. But excluding yourself from the experience completely, only because of it being a digital release really isn’t worth it in my opinion. This game is going to sell a LOT more than anticipated even if some gamers seem to cancel it. Remedy is just the first of many (or all of them really) AAA studios to go all digital, but in the long run it is inevitable. I’m sorry to say that the people who would like to try Alan Wake 2 but decide not to, JUST because there isn’t a physical version available, are really missing out big time… This game is so incredibly good!
This game sucks! It's not even remotely interesting. Some idiot in the studio took a good concept and flushed it completely down the toilet. Alan Wake II is nothing more than a glorified C.S.I. Who thought it was a good idea to turn a survival horror game into an episode of the TV show, The First 48.
It looks like what Alan Wake 1 should have been. That game was so goofy I actively wondered while playing it if the game was supposed to be more of a comedy than a horror game. I never once felt tense or scared playing it. And don't get me started on the remastered version... It's a shame Remedy is so obsessed with their shared universe and lore. I found both Alan Wake and Control to be a chore so while this game looks fun, I'm not going to waste my time on a story that requires me to know the story of those two other games. It sucks because this was more what I wanted out of Alan Wake.
Mostly just the placement of dodge. But you can manually map controls however you want. I switched up where dodge was, and it solved the problem for me.
The blurring, glitching enemies are VERY off putting, and the fact that they are bullet spunges doesnt help much. Ugly blurring red screens...nope, not for me.
