I’m sorry for your loss Laurence. 😔 Glad you got your American passport. I don’t have a passport. I realize that confuses most foreigners, however I have been to Canada, Mexico and explored this country from coast to coast. Now I’m not healthy enough to travel overseas, so I waited too long to travel. I see the world through reading and videos. I absolutely enjoy your videos!

You make me.feel vindicated, as I sacrificed saving for a home or other large purchases on several occasions, by having work pay for conference attendance, but extending a few days out of my own pocket. When people ask me why, I say because I can. I figure I can do travel in my own country when I'm older with groups, trains, buses at cetera

In my youth I used to think it was so important to fill up my passport to prove I'd been everywhere and done everything. Then life's challenges got in the way, and I realized it didn't matter if my passport was empty or full. It's what you do with your life and the relationships you have that matters at the end of the day. The world is your oyster when you have an American passport, but use it to do wonderful things, not just pass time.

All you really need is an itinerary printed by the airline(on airline stock like a ticket) showing you have an international flight within x amount of days. So sorry on the loss of your dad. From your photo you look a lot like him. I'm so glad you got to get home to your family to mourn with them. Losing daddy is still painful years later. With my prayers for your comfort, be kind to yourself.

Thank you for explaining all this. It is so much to go through at a time of immense sorrow. I appreciate your candor. Btw, I always enjoy the piano (semi-motif? quasi-motif? proto-motif? Never-thought-of-it-being-a-motif motif? lol). 🎹

My deepest condolences on the loss of your father, Laurence. That is very harsh.
This video was timely for me, because it reminded me I need to get my passport renewed if I wish to spend the summer in Manchester, as well as Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Passports, I've discovered, are extremely handy little documents. You can use then for identification in country as well as traveling to other countries.
